This was taken from an article by a Calvinist, teaching 'perseverence of the saints'. It is, I believe, from the RSV(Revised Standard Version). Notice the wording in the last sentence of each and tell me if you notice a subtle but drastic difference in meaning between this and the KJB. Here is what the King James says .... 2 Peter 1:10-11 10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I know this could be in the wrong forum, but it has to do wit…

In Acts 2, Peter preached the first gospel sermon after Christ ascended back to heaven. He told the Jews that they had crucified Christ who is the son of God. In verse 37 they asked men and brethren, what shall we do? We understand that they were asking what they had to do to be saved. This is the most important question that one can ask or answer. If someone were to ask you that same question today, how would you answer it?

Does anyone ever doubt their salvation? Or do you have any advice for someone who does? I am a huge worrywart, always have been. I tend to dwell on the "what if's" in life and stress over bad things. Obviously if I am going to worry so much over every little thing, something as huge and important as salvation is definitely going to be a worry of mine. I know what the Scripture says and know I am saved, but yet I always have this "what if" and fear in the back of my mind that I might not be. Is this normal or am I just weird?

This hit me Sunday morning as our Pastor was reading the text in John 3 before the message. A person who has never been saved is...."he that believeth not" right? Hypothetical question.... What if a person who ONCE believed, could stop believing? Wouldn't he now also be "he that believeth not"? But that can't be so, because this verse says that "he that believeth not"......"hath not believed" John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Any person who doesn't believe, never has.

[flash=]As I already stated when I introduced myself in the other forum. I come from a long line of radical pentecostal/ holiness/ full gospel believers. Last year I begin having questions re: many topics, I searched and searched for answers, went to my husband, then to our bible study teacher, and then to the pastor. I never could get a good straight biblical answer. With that being said here goes my first question, I hope that I am not out of line by coming here to ask instead of my husband, but I did go to him first but he did not give me a biblical answer, just what he had been taught and heard all these years..... This is actually a two part question I suppose....T…

A scenario my husband recently heard about. This was from a conservative.: Person: I know I am not saved because I do not feel sorry for the ?sins? I commit. How sorry would I need to feel? Preacher: ?Being sorry has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. It is an instantaneous event. When you believe/trust it is complete. Later on sanctification occurs where you become more Christ like and change your ways but being saved doesn?t remove the sin desires from us?.

II was asked these questions twice yesterday and thought I would get some help on answering them more fully. Which churches have Armenian doctrine (lose your salvation)? Which churches believe you must be baptized to be saved? Which churches have Calvinistic doctrine? Here is what I think ... Church of Christ ... believes you can lose your salvation and they believe that baptism is part of salvation Catholics believe that baptism is salvation (not sure) Nazarene believe you can lose your salvation Episcopal believe that baptism is salvation (not sure) Presbyterian is Calvinist Landmark Baptist is Calvinist MIssionary Baptist is Calvinist (5 point) Lutheran…

a person was saved by GRACE in the Old Testament. As far back as the Book of Genesis, God's Grace... NOT their works has saved a person. If that were not the case, then, a person could be their own god as seen in Genesis 3:1-5. Paying particular attention to verse 5... For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (The very first lie from Satan in the Bible.) I will start: Genesis 13:4... Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. King James Bible Above we see that Abram's (later... Abraham) works led up to God/J…

Like I said, these guys are cowards!(Thats why they keep deleting my posts) They believe this false Babylonian Catholic "repent unto salvation" gospel. I have already proved them to be apostate,I have given a list of every verse in the Bible with "repent" in it,and proved that not everyone repents to be saved. They refuse to give answer to the "Evidence That Demands A Verdict"! The gospel of John mentions "believe" 90 times and the word "repent" is mentioned NONE!(The same amount of verses they have to prove their false Babylonian doctrine.) "Believe" is mentioned 6 to 1 over "repent" and "repent" is one of the least talked about subjects in the Bible. They have ye…

I have been trying to determine the biblical order that occurs in salvation. Not looking to debate here but simply get your input. It seems to me that the proper order would be... Hearing the word Conviction godly sorrow (worketh repentance) confession of sin which I believe happens simultaneously with repentance (Mark 1:4-5) Baptism (not required for salvation) Walking in newness of life (evidence of salvation) Your thoughts, Orvals

Hello Everyone, For some time now, I have been having doubts about my salvation. Every so often I will make a new profession of faith and believe I am saved; however, soon after, the doubts once again begin to arise as to whether I have truly been born again. I have prayed and studied concerning my situation, and I have come to the conclusion that if I possess a greater understanding of some key doctrines, then perhaps I can make a determination if I am saved or not. I have chosen a few terms of which I would like to possess a greater knowledge, and if anyone will contribute to my better understanding of them, I would sincerely appreciate it. If you would also pray for …

We need to pray for this Rabbi that the Lord opens his eyes and gives him the understanding of the gospel and the salvation of Jesus Christ. Also to pray for the christian missionaries and for their protection. Outreach Rabbi Singer to Challenge Missionary Aggression by IsraelNN Staff (IsraelNN.com) The Outreach Judaism organization has announced that it is launching an exhaustive four-part lecture series in Jerusalem to respond directly to missionaries who engage in Jewish evangelism. The campaign is in an effort to combat a disturbing assault by fundamentalist Christians who target Jews for conversion. Outreach Judaism is an international organization dedi…

I was wondering what you think of what I like to call "Instant" repennters, people who plan on sinning and then pray for forgiveness of that sin. They make a habit of sinning and repenting, with no intention of giving up the sinful behaviour they repented for.

This week we have been having revival services and today I thought I would share what the one Pastor was talking about. Faith is tried, it is tested and it can be true. The Pastor was pretty much talking about the man who was born a cripple. Turn to Mark 2vs1-5 As we know the four friends carried him to go see Jesus and when Jesus saw them it says in verse 5 Jesus saw their faith because they had so much of it. I mean think about it wouldn't it be great if Jesus could see our faith because their is so much of it. I don't know about you but I say too many times our minds doubt the power of God and instead we are filled with fear and this is a serious thing because it can …

I have a goal for this year. I?ve prayed about this and I know God has called me to do it. I don?t know what the outcome will be, but I am compelled. I am to go door to door in our community, as many as will receive me, I am to leave the Gospel of Christ and invite them to my local church. I am to let God use this effort to His glory and not fret over outcomes. I recall an exhortation from a previous pastor, ?A call to preach is a call to prepare,? Rod Bell, Pastor, Tabernacle Baptist Church (TBC), 1980s. My effort is not a formalized call to be a ?preacher? in the modern context; it is everyone?s call to witness and so, preaching to a certain extent. This is the rea…

People rather be peaceful and phony to do meetings with each other in the name of Jesus. Your called a bully and judgmental person if your really not a phony in the body of Christ today. Your called a negative person if your not a phony in the body of Christ too. Anybody tired of phony people and phony meetings in the name of Jesus? Who hungry to be around real bible believers like David, Amos and Paul encouraged? I'm tired of being around phony people just to be around a humble and nice peaceful person only. Who hungry for a equal yoke with bible believers like David, Amos and Paul urged? Who tired of being around phony people just to be around entertainment and s…

I too have struggled with Yes and No, Right and Wrong. It notoriously bugs me. My dads family being Salvationists, and my mother being an unfit mother. Then theres me. The struggle in my life is undoubtably crushing at times. Even so recently. I struggle with alot and often times let myself down by throwing down the fight knowing I'm going to be wrong in doing so . Throwing in the towel is no way to do it. Often times I wonder what am I trying to prove to myself. I've learned a few things since joining the board. Question is why am I kidding myself, thinking I can do it by myself. Whats wrong with me. I can give great advice but have a hard time taking advice. This is tru…

I have been gathering information for quite some time now on all the aspects of salvation and how one gets saved, with special attention to the Call from God all the way to the sinner's response to receive or reject. Here is something on repentance that I just heard yesterday from a visiting speaker to our church. Very interesting is the fact that we can learn new things everyday especially when we think we have all the details fully understood. :) When God draws a sinner to Himself for salvation, that sinner has the opportunity to reject or accept the offer from the LORD. This is the sinner's free-will. In order to receive the gift of salvation, the sinner must…

I was saved on Feb. 25, 1973. I received the Holy Ghost and spoke in another language, just like the 120 did on the Day of Pentecost in Acts the 2nd chapter. It was really wonderful... experiencing the Supernatural God for myself. Just like the 39th verse it is for us today as it was for them in Acts 2nd Chapter. The Holy Ghost will guide us into all truth and help us overcome temptation so we can have power to endure to the end to remain saved. My life really changed when I received the Holy Ghost. Peter was given the keys to the Kingdom and the keys were to unlock the way to Salvation. When the people in the 2nd Chapter of Acts, ask what they must do, he told them in t…
