  1. They go to Lanakila Baptist Church in Wiapahu.
  2. My daughter is stationed in Hawaii and there is a young soldiers wife (Debbie) in her Sunday School class that has had cancer twice in the last couple years. Debbie was doing pretty good then she got sick on CHRISTmas eve and had to be hospitalised and she has gotten worse daily. Her parents are on their way over to Hawaii and will arrive at about 8:00 our time about 4:00 Hawaii time. But we were called by our daughter about 30 minutes ago, and she said her friend Debbie just died. Her parents are in the air and can't be reached. Debbie has two small children and is from Georgia Her husband w
  3. A trillion dollars = $1,000,000,000,000. That's 12 zeroes to the left of the decimal point. A trillion is a million million dollars. The U.S. government spends more than the entire Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Australia, China and Spain combined. If you laid one dollar bills end to end, you could make a chain that stretches from earth to the moon and back again 200 times before you ran out of dollar bills! One trillion dollars would stretch nearly from the earth to the sun. It would take a military jet flying at the speed of sound, reeling out a roll of dollar bills behind it, 14 years
  4. Most seem to "nice guys" in the beginning then they turn when you challenge them.
  5. I have been encouraged to write a book on pastoring in a small town. I am interested in doing it and would like some ideas for chapters This is some of the ways God has blessed in my ministry I am now pastoring the 3rd church in a small town. After bible college I started a church in a town of about 150, and in a year we were running about 40 and they called a pastor. Then I took a church in a town of 5000, they only had three ladies. The Lord blessed and in about 5 years we were running about 85-90 with a Christian school. Then I went to Indiana and took a church of 30 in a town of 300. I
  6. Here are some of the reasons why I am KJV only Why We use The King James Version of the Bible Here at Northwest Baptist Church Our Church has decided to stick with the old "KING JAMES VERSION" of the Bible. The alarming number of English Bibles is one of the most important religious phenomena of recent years. It is our view that the production of these new translations has served to undermine the spiritual foundations of our country and weaken the message of her churches. The new versions are not really better than the old one. We are going to keep the King James Bible for sev
  7. Excellent book I have used it for Sunday School
  8. PRACTICAL REASONS _____________________________________________________________ Believe it or not, some of the features most criticized in the King James Bible are among the best reasons to keep it! For example, consider the "thee's" and "thou's." The King James Version was not written in the everyday language of people on the street in 1611. It was written in high English, a very precise form of our language. In modern English, the second person pronoun is expressed with one word, whether in singular or the plural. That word is "you." Most other European languages have both a singul
  9. Leadership in Action True leaders in our government, churches, and families have never been more needed than today. What are the characteristics of a true leader? If an EKG or an X-ray would show one?s leadership traits, what traits would be desirable? Here are just a few of the most important ones: ? Enthusiasm: Including optimism & hope ? Trustworthiness: Honest & transparent ? Discipline: To study, pray, give, & go ? Confidence: Faith in God ? Decisiveness: Not a procrastinator ? Courage: Never capitulating to fear ? Loyalty: Steadfastness & Faithfulness ? Uns

  11. When I became pastor here in Sep I knew thew could not pay me enough to live on, but I wanted to be full time so I could go door knocking about 10-20 hours/week believing that the church would grow enough in a year or so to make up the rest. I have enough in savings to last till then. the $400/week is about $100 short of what we need. So I told my wife "I think I will go find a part time job to make up the $100/week" and no one else but the Lord knew my intentions, Then yesterday the treasure came to me with a check for $500 and said it came in designated for me. So last night my wife said sh
  12. For several years, because I have had plenty of time being a full time pastor; I read 5 chapters in Psalms - to keep my heart right I read 1 chapter in Proverbs - to keep my mind right I read 1 chapter in Acts - to keep my feet moving I also read straight through 3 chapters / day Total of 10 chapters. Then what ever I study for messages
  13. Amen! Amen! Amen! Thank you, this rhetoric is fun for a round or two but then I start getting in the flesh. Which is what they are trying to accomplish. So I just read what you guys post and read some of it to my wife. Again :amen:
  14. A New Opportunity for A New Year Someone once said, ?Opportunities are seldom labeled.? However, I have always felt that every New Year is a new opportunity to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a new opportunity to move forward along life?s journey and to make one?s life more eternally meaningful. Because I believe 2009 is a new opportunity for the Lord, I have spent much time in prayer, Bible reading, and goal-setting for this year. I trust that you, too, have set some goals and you are trusting the Lord to use you in a greater way! It has been said, ?He who
