For a while now, I have been attending a Church(IFB), while I am waiting for the Lord to open a door for my next pastorate; And although(for the most part), I very much enjoy the opportunity to be “preached to”, I am not on the “exact same page” as my pastor. This can be somewhat expected, because I have never found “two Baptist” that totally agree 100%. Anyway, recently the LORD reminded me, not to loose sight of “the main thrust of ministry”; This reminder was needed because all I have been hearing, is “soul winning, soul winning, soul winning”. I was just having an interesting conversation with a co-worker who was an IFB but was led astray by Calvinism and turned Presbyterian (there were also pot-shots being thrown in by our resident Lutheran...). He asked whether regeneration came before or after salvation. I, of course, said after and explained non-Calvinist salvation to him. Why this caught me off-guard I'm not sure because I know the Reformed position, but he was completely stuck on Ephesians 2:8-9, though not in the way that we understand it. I'm posting part of response from another "Baptist" forum that was left unanswered about 2 Peter 3:9 and the Calvinist mangling of it. Feel free to add to it. Please pardon the Greek, I was dealing with Biblophobes who tried using it against me. Now this verse only says what you say it doesn't say if you read a presuppostional stance into the text. I give a co-worker a ride to work twice a week; and was wanting to witness to him. I asked the Lord to give me wisdom on how to present the gospel to him. In my tract pile I had one in titled "Wisdom from the Catholic Bible" and the thought came to me after much prayer, give this tract to billy, him being a Catholic, and ask him to read it for me over the weekend. I've listened to a radio preacher in my area a few times to make sure that I heard his "salvation plan" correctly... After his recorded sermon ends, another recording comes on that invites people to their church etc...and part of the final recording is an invitation to be saved...this is how it's presented... If you want to be saved, it's as easy as A-B-C. A - Admit that you're a sinner. B - Believe that Jesus is the Son of God. C - Confess your sins to him. That's it...and that's all that is said. I know what I think, but what do others think of this?

Recently heard a preacher say that if someone doesn't believe in the diety of Christ, or does not believe Christ is God, that person can't be saved. Does anyone know where this doctrine came from in the Bible and/or what verse(s) substantiate this statement? This is not a discussion of the trinity, or church history, or creeds. I would like to keep this focused on the question. Thanks.

How does one reconcile Matthew 18:15-17 in the realm of forgiveness except to call it reconciliation or church discipline? Mat 6:14 Mat 6:15 Eph 4:32 How has God forgiven you? 1Jo 1:9 Luk 17:3 Forgiveness sounds conditional in the sense of scripture as recorded in Luke 17:3. Psalm 82:2-3 has me wondering whether we do justice if we overlook the wrongs unrepentent people do.

We recently had some church events come up that have me wondering something. If a person has said they are saved and then it turns out they were not, what would that mean of any that have been led by them? I know that the Holy Ghost is the one convicting and that the soulwinner is a tool, but I have just never thought about that before?
