New thread continued from Brothers and Sisters in Christ: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Not the answer you were looking for I am guessing but there it is. The love of the world precludes doing the will of God and precludes abiding forever. The love of the world is in direct contradiction to the wil…

1 Cor. 3:10-15 10 "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon." 11 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 12 "Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;" 13 "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." 14 "If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward." 15 "If …

Some have the opinion that I am wrong in my view of eternal security. Here is one post I stated - "Hold on here fellas. Eternal life starts at death. We don't get eternal life while here, so we can't lose it! It is the promise of eternal life that Christ purchased through his death burial and resurrection. That promise is fulfilled in each one that believes in Jesus Christ with all their heart. When someone believes with all their heart, they don't just one day choose not to. That is not the type of creature we are after salvation. The scriptures say we are a NEW creature! Not the old. Yes we can choose to disobey and do ungodl…

Question: As some of you know, my father is in a critical condition right now because of diabetes. Me, my sister, Pastors and Bible students in our church shared to him the gospel many times in the hospital. In some of the questions about salvation, faith, repentance, he just answered a short reply of 'yes'. There was one time, I heard him said that Christ is his hope. My question is: Can we know if he is truly saved though he cannot show it anymore bec he is in his death bed? Can we know if he truly accept and believe in Christ if his profession of faith is not the same like us healthy people? Most of his answer is just plain and short "yes". Any thoughts on this? His h…

Taken from BO We believe in order to truly pass from death to life a person must repent of their sins. remission of sins by grace through faith in Gods promise and Christ's blood. We believe good works do not and can never have any part in salvation. So what you are saying is salvation doesn't come from doing good, but it does come from quitting bad. This is why the definition of repent is so important. This leads ppl to confusion about what salvation is. If you want to kick me off, kick me off. JONAH 3:10

I have been troubled by something I have recently seen. I hope someone can shed some light on this topic for me. I will do more research on it, but obviously there is only so much time, and i hoped that one of you have done the research already. Basically, in the video it quotes church Bishops that were directly linked to the apostles. It basically states that the early church taught salvation in 2 stages...1. Grace through Faith. (which is what we cling to) 2 After conversion it describes Eternal Security as conditional. He said the apostles didn't worry about their salvation, but taught that a person can walk away basically. I immediately thought to myself this guy is a…

II Corinthians 5:17 says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Within the past couple months at the church I am a member of has seen a few folks get saved and folks join the church. I praise the Lord for that. But something seems to be off. According to the verse above when we are in Christ old things are passed away and all things are become new. My old life is dead and buried and I'm given a new life in Christ. Why is there then for lack of a better word so many "worthless" Christians? "Christians" that would rather live like the world then live the more abundant life that they have b…

I read a debate on another forum about salvation and "Lordship salvation." Just wondering if anyone could give me some clarity on these topics. John 3:16 says "...that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." Thus, all it takes for salvation is to BELIEVE. Repentance and good works are the fruit of a faithful Christian, but without them you are still a believer and still saved? Or is repentance ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY? I repent for my sins and do what I believe to be "good works" for my friends, family, church, community and witness, educate, etc. But is that necessary to salvation? Are grace (i.e. "saved by the grace of God) and faith…

"Oops, I missed a step" Salvation. Romans 8:26-29 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. I was saved at the…
