Thread split from http://onlinebaptist.com/messageboards/viewtopic.php?t=16166, which I hijacked after noticing what Kevin said about Sean Hannity: ______________________________________________________
You must not have listened to Sean very much. There isn't anything liberal about him. And he often talks about God on his program. He is very conservative and has come out against the president several times. And it's not Bortz Janet, I was thinking about Michael Savage. :)

I haven't watched his tv program, only clips. I still can't figure how he is liberal by any stretch of the imagination. A…

This is a rather Long post sorry guys I just thought it would be intresting to see your responses I wrote this a while back and thought maybe I would share it. It used to be that whenever I was in Hamilton, I would visit a charismatic church. I liked it there. The music felt great and it was noisy. There were also some really nice people with whom I hung out and I often visited their cell groups. Although these cell groups would study books and comment on them, they also encouraged me to read my Bible, which I did. Suddenly, God's Holy Spirit was doing "a number" on me as I was reading. And also suddenly, I felt a little, no, very uncomfortable at the services. I wa…

I have recently pondered a new argument against Calvinism that I would like your thoughts on. It is regarding the Calvinist belief that God controls all things based upon predestination and sovereignty, and the lack of uniformity among Calvinists and John Calvin's own beliefs. My theory is that if God forced salvation against our wills, and Jesus affirmed that if any man will do His will he shall KNOW of the doctrine, then would it make sense that God would impose salvation, but not uniformity in doctrine among Calvinists? If God forces salvation, then why wouldn't He logically force ones belief system? If God is the author of sin, He would be the author of heresy as w…

Could someone please clarify your beliefs? I notice that you list several "false" religions. I am not disputing that most of the religions you list are in fact false; clearly I and the Bible refutes your idea of the church of Christ being a false religion. But, to the point, do you believe that the IFB is the only true church? If not, what are some other true churches/religions? I thank all who provide information on this.

Hi everyone. Catholics believe in transubstantiation or the "real presence" of Christ in the Eucharist or communion. What is wrong with this belief? Please explain.

Can anyone link a few good sites that go through the history of the Catholic church persecuting the earlier Christians? Those that were called Anabaptists and before that? A website that has references would be preferred but not necessary per say.

Billy Graham Attended Reformed Presbyterian Church as a youth with his parents & while attend it he claimed to have been saved. The Presbyterian Church claims one is saved because of grace, yet they hold to lots of the same teaching of the RRC & Lutheran, that this saving grace is extended though baptizing & the Lord's Supper. I had been told that he grew up as a Baptist, that was not true, it seems his 1st experience with Baptist was the 1st church he was pastor of was 1st Baptist Missionary Church of Western Springs in IL. Now I understand where he was coming from in accepting false teaching about being saved, & joining together will the Cathol…

I've heard this many times before, but I still have yet to hear ANY evidence of such a thing. What basis do baptists have in saying they can trace their roots allll the way back to the time of Christ?

Is anyone here well-educated in refuting the heresies of the church of Christ? I see one of them often when I am downtown street preaching. He says that one must repent, believe AND be baptized to be saved. He uses the following verses: Acts 2:38 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Mark 16:16 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. and a few others. When I show him verses such as Eph 2:8,9 and so on he says that since those letters are written to christians that being b…

I am a Catholic who attends the local Catholic parish on Saturday Vigil Mass. I also attend the local Baptist Church on Sunday mornings where I was Baptized via immersion(as a public profession of faith that I gave my life to Christ some 20 years ago) on 21 May 2017. I am both Catholic and Baptist as the result of having been Baptized via immersion at that Baptist Church. In the fall I will take membership preparation class in order to become a member of that Baptist Church I attend on Sunday mornings.

While In the hospital a united methodist women minister(we won't bother w/ that!) come to visit. I' m clearly listed as Baptist so I don't know why she came to my room!!?? Felt like the Lord was telling me to just ask her Questions so I did. We were able to get really far thru salvation by grace, repentance etc. but then I ask her if they thought they could lose their salvation and she said yes!! but only if they did a a realy ,really bad thing! So I began to ask her for examples but two dr.s I HAD to see came in and our conversation ended. So can anyone tell me about this? Do United Methodist believe they can lose their salvation?? Pixiedust :puzzled:

I have known a lot of people who tell about visions and dreams and stuff like that. Some one asked me a question and keeps asking me the same question so I am going to ask it on here because I have never really looked in the bible about it so I thought I would ask on here What is the biblical interpretation of visions and dreams? Are they biblical?

Hi everyone. Did the Catholic Church start when Constantine legalized Christianity? Is that why there are so many pagan doctrines in the Catholic Church today? What do you say? :puzzled:

How many times are Christians warned against the cult of Freemasonry? I can't remember ever hearing any warnings against Freemasonry from the pulpit. Other than one time I travelled about 35 miles to hear a guest speaker from the other side of the world. Any views?

Was tracting today in a very hispanic area and ran into some Jehovah's witnesses setting up at an Hispanic shopping center. Of course I got the very very very polite. No thank you to my (our) tracts. 1 Tim 3:16 the way to start a conversation with those people. They do upset me to a degree because they love setting up in public places distributing their really bad error. So I'm not kind all the time either. That gang in Brooklyn has quite a scheme going and I let them know that in no uncertain terms. What I think of their "organizers" is not much. Jehovah's witness's in my opinion are so polite and good in appearance it defies reality. They kind of remind m…

Ok, I made this thread to learn more about Christianity. I am reading the Bible on my own but, I'm going to have questions so I hope to post them here. Hopefully, since you guys know more about your religion than I do, you can help me relate your beliefs to mine to make this easier to understand and, in the end, easier to give up my own beliefs for yours. I want you all to understand that I'm not Odinist simply because one day I just chose to be. My beliefs are all I have left of my biological parents save for a picture and a necklace. This isn't going to happen over night but, I have to start somewhere. Anyways, for my first questions. After reading Genisis a few times…

A friend and I talked to two Mormon Missionaries who approached us as we worked on my sons truck. It turned into an hour + conversation. They got very interested when I told them I attended the Mormon Church as a boy. Their Joy left when I told them I was an Assistant Pastor of a Baptist Church. I have talked to many mormons and Mormon missionaries. They all have something different to say. The last one ( about a year ago) said the Book of Mormon was just a bunch of stories to help us understand the Bible. :loco These guys had certain verses memorized which they quoted way way way out of context to fit baptism of the dead and the like. When I asked them to turn …
