Great Speckled Bird (Roy Acuff) What a beautiful thought I am thinking Concerning the Great Speckled Bird; Remember her name is recorded On the pages of pure shining gold. Al the other birds flocking 'round her And she is despised by the squad; But the Great Speckled Bird in the bible Is one with the great church of God. All the other churches are against her They envy her glory and fame; They hate her because she is chosen, And has not denied Jesus' name. Desiring to lower her standard They watch ev'ry move that she makes They try to find fault with her teachings, But they cannot find any mistakes. She is spreading her wings for a journey She is goi…

I thought this was kinda cool. Taking a secular song and transforming it into what else...the Power of God. Power of God Parody of "Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News References: Gen 1; Ps 66:3; Jer 10:12; Matt 8:23-27 Parody Lyrics by Randall Hyde (Verse 1) The power of God is an amazing thing, Took just a week to create everything. He made man, in the image of His bod, More than amazing, that's the power of God. (Verse 2) Made all the planets, you and me, Calms all the waves, of a mighty sea. Looked O'er creation, said "this is good." The power of God, it's so misunderstood. (Chorus) You don't need money, Don't take fame, Don't need a cre…

I have been greived for years over the Southern Gospel music industry. So often, especially here in the South, pastors really give rock, Christian rock, and CCM the dickens, but leave Southern Gospel music alone. We would cringe if someone wanted to sing a Christian rap song, or a Christian jazz song, in a conservative congregation, but we make excuses when it comes to the Southern Gospel crowd. Just to give you a peak into Satans true colors in the SGM crowd read the following article about Bill Gaither and his allegiance to the Southern Gospel Sodomites. http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/CCM/marsha_stevens.htm Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call ev…

Can you recall the congregational songs from yesterday's service(s)? List them here. This is a Christian social experiment. :frog

I love this song! I've heard it like 3 times in the past few days on our local Christian radio station. When engulfed by the terror of the tempestuous sea, Unknown waves before you roll; At the end of doubt and peril is eternity, Though fear and conflict seize your soul: But just think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven, Of touching a hand and finding it God's, Of breathing new air and finding it celestial, Of waking up in glory and finding it home. When surrounded by the blackness of the darkest night, Oh how lonely death can be; At the end of this long tunnel is a shining light; For death is swallowed up in Victory. But just think of stepping on…

The SWAT team has a Sunday evening slot on a community radio station. In between discussions and debates we play traditional hymns and have also started to play bluegrass and southern gospel music. Most of our listeners are Aussie IFB's. On our team we have a Bro. from Mississippi whose father has just started a church in Western Sydney, which we attend. Hence the introduction of bg/southern gospel music. We have had a number of complaints about playing this kind of music. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I personally, having recently been introduced to this type of music, love it. I understand that we have to be careful with respect to the performers an…

This is our little family band, posing on the front porch of my 3xgreat grandfather's log house. The house was removed by archaeologists, from it's original location in the piney woods to a museum in Panama City, Florida. I like to "bluegrassize" some of the old hymns and sprituals. We also do alot of Doyle Lawson's stuff and are starting to write some.

Hi everyone. I notice that most Fundamentalist Baptists are against rock and Christian rock. I can understand being against secular rock because it is often sinful but I don't understand why they are against Christian rock. Could someone please help me to understand this?

We were given this CD for Christmas, and I must say, it is absolutely great! Judy Roger's lyrics are absolutely full of scripture and fun to sing along. This is not your "1 2 3 Jesus loves me" stuff. I These are deep. Here are some lyrics:

Anyone here like to go to classical music concerts? You know, like the fancy nice ones? We haven't yet but now that we live in an area where they often have them, we are thinking about trying one. Thinking about going to see the Canadian Brass for Christmas. (Yeah to all our Canadians!!!) My DH also loves the Irish Tenors Christmas music but I don't think they are in Philly this Christmas..hmm. I also often check the John Williams website but although they occasionally have one in NYC, he rarely visits Philly.

This isn't for debating the issue of Christmas. I just wanted to see what Christmas albums are your favorites. Please post links if possible (providing that the music is God-honoring).

Since there's several "music people" on this site, I thought I'd post the piece that I'm writing for my recital next semester. It's a work for flute and piano. There's three movements (or sections). This is the second one. I will post the others as I get them recorded. Flute Piece - Movement II Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

"He Forgets" ---Legacy Five--- The first time he divided the night from the day, He remembers. The first star in heaven he set into place, He remembers. He knows each drop of water that fills up the sea, Like I'm his only child, he remembers me... But he forgets the sins he took to the cross, And when I see I can't pay, He forgets the cost. He knows who I am and all that I've done, But when I come to him and confess, Some way, some how, he forgets. My guilty heart I brought him when I was so lost, I remember. My weakness and all of the trouble I caused, I remember. But in a touch of his mercy, and a moment of grace, The next thing I know, My past is…

Here's a track I was asked to make based on a short clip I made earlier. It's sort of a mix of Asian and orchestral music I guess. AFAIK, the way I have the percussion in there is OK, right? I'm not emphasizing the backbeat like rock does. But I still wanted to ask what you guys think of it. Is it good or not? (Personally, I'm quite sure it is good, but I wanna make sure.) http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInf ... ID=4511172

I think it would be neat to hear the different songs that have had an impact in our lives. Post the lyrics to a song that has a special meaning to you. I'll post the first one. I was going through major doubts about whether or not God was calling me to full-time service, mainly because I'd only been saved for two years and living for God for less than 5 months. When I heard this song, God convicted me of the fact that He can use me however He wants to. Coupled with a message from my pastor on the same topic, I surrendered to God. You Never Know What God Can Do On a cold Sunday morning, he left the warmth of his car Cranked up an old bus, hoping one more time …

Those of you that like this beautiful work, which chorus, aria, recitative, etc. is your favorite. The Hallelujah Chorus is probably the most well-known and therefore the most popular but it isn't my very favorite. It would be in the top three, however. My favorites are the choruses: Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs Hallelujah! Worthy Is The Lamb The Amen section of Worthy Is The Lamb is so majestic and Heavenly!!! :sing:
