I am off rock music, and hoping to set the tone in my household, but I find it difficult to find truly good music. Yes, I know hymns are great, but I am also looking for stuff that can just be going at home when doing other things. We currently listen to some classical guitar etc, and this is fine, but am looking for spiritual music. Any one know any sites, and or dowloadables? Any suggestions? Love the old stuff, but looking for music that has been recorded well, with good sound quality. In Christ, Carlos.

This song is done by a country gospel group. It is in reference to "gay" marriage...it has a good message. Be warned, though, for those who don't like it, it is definitely country. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xzp0S3yO1QA

We found a violin on CraigsList for $75. I'd seen them priced much, much higher elsewhere, so we jumped at the chance and bought it. Me, my wife and two of our four kids are wanting to learn it. My wife is posting violin lessons she found on YouTube on her blog (http://lindacarlton.net) for the family to use. So far it's been much easier to learn than we thought. While I can play the piana, the recorder and the harmonica, Linda can't play any musical instrument. Bioth of us have been struggling to learn the guitar, but there's such a hefty learning curve at the very beginning of learning it that neither of us have gotten far. I'd say I'm about 2 or 3 days away from being …

I was totally disturbed today someone was selling a cornet and french horn today...for decoration. What kind of a person would want to use a horn that only had a part that would take $26 to fix as a wall decoration... Some musically illiterate people make me sick, if you don't know about musical instruments, learn or leave it alone. Ok sorry, I will now finish my rant... I was quite disturbed... :roll

I am doing some downloading onto my son's ipod so he can have some good music and sermons when he hits AIT. There are a couple of songs that he loves that I would like to load, but haven't been able to find them. Does anyone know of a way to get "I Should Have Been Crucified" and "On My Father's Side?" Just to clarify, the words for the second song are below. WHAT'S YOUR NAME SON? ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE MY NAME IS JESUS BUT ON MY FATHER'S SIDE THEY CALL ME EMMANUEL HOW OLD ARE YOU? ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE NOW I'M 12 YEARS BUT ON MY FATHER'S SIDE I'VE JUST ALWAYS BEEN WHERE ARE YOU FROM? ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE I'M FROM BETHLEHEM BUT O…

The following videos are from "Fight the Good Fight Ministries." It is a ministry which exposes the Satanic influence in pop-culture, specially movies and music. If you have the time, watch some of the videos at the link below. They are all clips from 'They Sold Their Souls for Rock and Roll." You can watch the 4 hour version, 1 hour at a time, at video.google.com by searching for "They Sold Their Souls For Rock and Roll." http://goodfight.org/exposelist.html I strongly suggest watching the "Madonna Expose." It surprised me the most. Specially at the end when she leads thousands in a chant of going to hell and is then lowered into a ring of fire while quoting Re…

(Just a quick note: I'm and evil Calvinistic Christian, so if my tone seems a little "off" I apologize) Okay, so I know that ya'll aren't into Christian music sounding like the World's music, right? Okay. So lets say that, suddenly, the World's musical tastes suddenly changed to the current "Christian" sound. Would you allow yourselves to listen to music that was "Rock" or "Metal", then? This is a serious question.

where I can find the song "Sin Will Take You Farther Than You Want To Go?" I used to have it in a book which has disappeared. The Cathedrals sang it on one of their albums. Thanks in advance.

Adding Refrains to Hymns

Recently, I have seen some older hymns being "renovated" with a modern refrain being tagged on. A couple of instances are the addition to Come Thou Fount (of Every Blessing) and Chris Tomlin's beautiful addition to Amazing Grace. Chris Tomlin was originally asked to write the refrain for the movie, Amazing Grace, that followed the life of William Wilberforce. Obviously, it was a huge undertaking. I mean, who wants to touch Amazing Grace, right? If you watch the movie, you'll hear his version during the ending credits; I believe God used that as a springboard, and now that beautiful song and it's added refrain are all over the radio airwaves. So, what do you think?…

Question on Types of Music

I am here in this forum to learn more about what Baptists believe because I am interested in serious Christianity. I hope my asking this won't offend anyone as I am not challenging what anyone here believes - I am just trying to understand it to see if I agree with it for myself. What types of music are accepted and prohibited from a Baptist point of view? Is it just music that has bad language, or is it also non-Christian music that doesn't have bad language and Christian music too? What are the reasons? Thank you.
