Members heartstrings Posted May 16, 2008 Members Posted May 16, 2008 My main instruments are guitar and 5-string banjo. But I also play a little mandolin, violin and bass. A very good instrument to start out on, is the mountain dulcimer. They have a beautiful, sweet sound, are super easy to learn and you will be playing tunes in minutes. Quote
Members hspeer Posted May 16, 2008 Members Posted May 16, 2008 I play the piano. I've been playing for about 20 years and took lessons for 15. It's my only instrument, but I really enjoy playing both by music and by ear. Quote
Members Charbo Posted May 16, 2008 Members Posted May 16, 2008 I can play my nose . . . pick it or blow it. Quote
Moderators OLD fashioned preacher Posted May 17, 2008 Moderators Posted May 17, 2008 Banjo, guitar and autoharp. My younguns, on the other hand, play those plus harmonica, bagpipes, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, bass, piano, organ, mandolin and trumpet. Quote
Members ZacharyW Posted May 18, 2008 Members Posted May 18, 2008 I can play my nose . . . pick it or blow it. Ewwwww! :lol :lol I can play the violin and the Irish Tin Whistle (Englsh-made ). I muck around on my sister's piano, though I wouldn't say I can really play it. :puzzled: Yeah... Quote
Members RayJr Posted May 21, 2008 Members Posted May 21, 2008 I play a little on the guitar triing to relearn the piano Quote
Members Kayla Posted May 30, 2008 Members Posted May 30, 2008 So I have decided to buy a French Horn. Lord willing I will buy one next week. I would like to pick it back up again, the folks at my church have been hounding me to do a special like I used to in High School but I borrowed my instrument from the school at that time...so I never actually owned my own. If the funds come in and I get the right price I will, anyone know someone selling one? Quote
Guest Guest Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 In answer to the posted question as topic: Yes, Five string banjo yeah, it's a hillbilly thing..... :Bleh Quote
Moderators Salyan Posted June 10, 2008 Moderators Posted June 10, 2008 Piano, organ (working on), and hoping to learn the harp -- it's in the mail! For those aspiring harpists I saw earlier, have you ever heard of Harpsicles? They are very plainly made harps (look quite ugly until you get used to them), so they are cheaper than usual. I have on order a Black Fullsicle. It has all the levers, and it only cost me CAN $730. Rees Instruments makes them in the States. Quote
Members SweetCharity Posted June 10, 2008 Members Posted June 10, 2008 I play the flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, trumpet a little, and piano. My sister and I seemed to have split the music talent; I can pick up any instrument and learn how to play it in a split second but my singing voice is horrendous, she on the other hand has never been able to play an instrument but has the voice of an angel. That's great. Quote
Members anime4christ Posted June 12, 2008 Members Posted June 12, 2008 Can't believe I forgot to mention here that I play guitar. So far, I can do rhythm, fingerpicking (using chord shapes, not melody), and solos. I wanna learn to be able to play melody along with harmony. So far I'm not too good at that. Quote
Members IM4given Posted June 12, 2008 Members Posted June 12, 2008 Does a kazoo count? I am terrific on a kazoo! I can even improvise with a comb and a piece of tissue if I need to. I taught my VBS ckass how to play that instrument one year and we played a song for the last day! Quote
Members dadof4 Posted June 13, 2008 Author Members Posted June 13, 2008 I once played some of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony on a nose flute. Quote
Members Ron Posted June 13, 2008 Members Posted June 13, 2008 if you couldn't tell from my avatar, i play trumpet! :thumb Quote
