  1. I've always like that movie. When I was very young they would play the movie on a large screen at the Greer Baptist Campmeeting (not too far from BJU) on July 4th because the [then] moderator of the camp meeting was Billy Kelly who played the still owner in Sheffey. That brings back some good memories. BJU also just put out a new movie called "Milltown Pride". I haven't seen it, but have heard it's really really good.
  2. My family and I were at a birthday party of a young man last night and of the 10+ teenagers there, the one young man there who has the respect of his peers and of adults as being an upright young man with a lot Christian character goes to public school (this was not the boy for whom the party was). The other 9+ there go to a Christian school in our area and over half of them have been into some pretty major trouble. One of which has actually been expelled from the Christian school. I commented to my husband last night on that very fact and we both agreed that while we plan to home school our c

  4. None of the churches that I've ever been have ever "OBserved" Palm Sunday. However, this year we are visiting churches, and the one that we've been visiting consistently put the emphasis yesterday morning on Calvary in the music service and the pastor's message was from Matthew 21 about Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem. It was a very good message titled "Who Is He to You?". I enjoyed the service very much.
  5. We do ours yearly escrowed with our mortgage payment and it's about $330 for a year. We've had it for 5 years and it's never gone up. Allstate. Our car insurance has actually gradually been dropping with them for the last 3 years. Can't beat that!
  6. Wow!! His work is beautiful!!! His fees are WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Colts all the way! Go Peyton! Too bad Dungy isn't still around for another Super Bowl.
  8. Woohoo!!!! Go Peyton Manning and the Colts!!!!
  9. I have been in a church in the past where a lost couple came to the church faithfully Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night for years and never got saved. They admitted to not being saved, and in that particular church they did hear a clear Gospel message fairly regularly. What happened? They got comfortable and blended in with the members of the church. People started treating them like members. I don't know if they ever got saved. I remember that bothering me at the time. I believe that if you allow lost people to come to church for months on end without confronting them about the
  10. My husband and I sang "Lord Bless Our Home" by Ron Hamilton at our wedding. A friend of mine that just got married today had "Before the Throne of God Above" sang and "How Deep the Father's Love for Us". Both talk about our relationship with God, not necessarily "love songs" for a couple, though. "The Sands of Time Are Sinking" is an old hymn with a lot of verses, but at least two of them would be neat for a wedding and I have heard these used... O I am my Beloved
  11. As the mom of only a five month old, I don't want to give parenting advice, but just share something about my own relationship with my mother. My mom and I have never been close. I always wanted to be, but there always seemed to be something between us as I grew up. I was very independent (as the oldest) and my mom always assumed that because of that, I didn't want or need her time and affection or praise (two of my other siblings are very cuddly and laid back and just make you want to be close to them). In reality, I wanted all of those things very much, I just didn't do a very good job of co
  12. Cell phones, PDAs, etc. should be turned off and there should be no texting in church. This seems to be a growing problem.
  13. Okay...I've finally taken the time to sit down and update. :-) Asa is doing good. He had his 1 month Dr. visit on Tuesday and he has grown 3 inches since he was born (he's now 22 inches) and he is now 8 lb 14 oz. He was 7 lb 14 oz when he was born, but by the time we went home from the hospital he was down to 7 lbs. The last time they had weighed him was October 2nd and he was 7 lb 10 oz. so in 20 days he gained 20 oz.!! He is changing already. He holds his head up very well and is much more alert now and focusing on things and on people. Jonathan's oldest sister had her little boy on Thursda
  14. Congratulations. We will hopefully be welcoming our little boy at some point today. :-) Jonathan's brother and his wife are having a baby in a few weeks and they are calling him Ben. We must still be in the "boy cycle"-eveybody around here lately has been having boys. There are three ladies in the hospital here that are having babies today and they're all having boys.
