Please pray for my 2 yo Andrew, we are still battling hives and nobody can figure out what they are from or how to help. We keep increasing his antihistamines and they aren't really working. The dr has changed his meds over and over again and nothing much seems to work. We are trying one more thing and if that doesn't at least help by tomorrow we will probably have to try steriods again which she doesn't want to do, but nothing helps. He woke up from his nap today extremely cranky and just scratching his poor head and we've been doing this for three months now, day in and day out. Some days are better, some worse but none completely clear of hives.

We got blood tests done and they are fine. We are getting a few allergy tests done this week but I have taken him off dairy the last few days and its not that because he is still getting somewhat worse instead of better. Its just so frustrating to see him uncomfortable and give him med after med and still keep fighting this thing. So please pray God will heal him, and that maybe this next bout of steriods (which looks like he will be having, he has been resistant to the antihistamines) could just knock this thing out of his system...or God could do it, I wouldn't mind that either!

A side note is that all these drs and meds are adding up and being expensive as well.

Thanks for your prayers.

...could he be allergic to the soap that you wash his clothes in? I am only asking because that was exactly what I went through until I finally figured out that I allergic to anything with dyes and perfumes in it!

oh and remember, hives can also be caused by nerves (my younger brother and my aunt have nerves-related hives)... So if your son is feeling stressed or nervous, try to calm him down. Sing him a soft song or something like that.

A cool soft wet washcloth or a bath helps alot. My son get hives every now and then too.

When I was little I had hives quite often from nerves. It still happens every once in a while. When my brother was small he had hives. Mom figured out he was allergic to asprin. Just a couple of thoughts. Hope he gets better!!!

Thanks all...

Surely my toddler hasn't had nerves for three months. haha. The new meds have controlled them better...not gone, but manageable. We take it a day at a time and see. He's getting a couple allergy tests this morning, although I think I've ruled out dairy. I kept him from it a couple days and then gave him some and so far as I can tell it has no bearing on his breakouts.

The Lord knows what causes the hives and He can heal if He sees fit!
