Currently -15, with wind chill from -40 to -50. Cold! State of emergency declared, no one except emergency vehicles supposed to be out. The library is closed, the local paper not publishing. Schools all closed. Interstates shut down. It's a bit of a mess here right now. But praise the Lord we have heat!

-11 at the moment (12:30 pm)

Praise God, my grandmother, who is an amputee confined to wheelchair, her furnace motor broke yesterday morning but was fixed by noon! She lives in a very small town, no one was out yesterday, all churches closed, etc. A furnace repairman lived only 4 doors down from her!

Wow!! That's cold! Finding it slightly amusing that you're all closed down - we only get weather warnings and life goes on as usual. Well, except probably the school buses won't run in the country. And we don't go door knocking. :frog:  But that's still mighty cold!! You've even got us beat! Congrats on being colder than the frozen North! :coverlaugh:

Hehehe...not a goal I had in life, for sure! It's now down to -14...

Well, the area is shut down because of so much snow (we got over 15 inches and already had about 6) and the wind. Gusts are 25-45.mph, and so as soon as roads were plowed, they would be covered again. Couple that with the extreme cold and it is very dangerous.

This is only the second time in 25 years.that roads have been closed, but this is by far the worse.

They are. Our places of employment are closed, so we are in no need of being on the road. Hope your area is ok.

Sounds dreadful over there - all that melted polar icecap falling on you as snow.

About 52°F (11°C) near Heathrow Airport.

We have had rain practically every day for weeks.  we have had 4 storms, or is it 5? since 23 Dec.  Some farms have been turned into lakes.  One TV reporter travelling down a country lane by boat said "see that ariel sticking up out of the water, that's a car down there."  One village near here has been flooded 3 times in the last couple of weeks.  They are blaming the weather contrasts in the US which has affected the Jet Stream. It has been very mild though, we have not had a real frost yet.
