Dress down for sure...I live in denim skirts whenever possible. I get all hot and sweaty and nervous if I have to actually wear a nice dress. :thumbdown

I've always preferred to dress up. I like to wear french cuffs and links, hats, and suits. Kind of retro, I guess. :cooldude:

Dressing down is the norm for me, though, because wearing all that stuff is too expensive.

Appropriatness is the key. For some things dressing up is appropriate for other dressing down is. If i am going to err I had rather err to the conservative side and dress up.

Although no longer a pastor, I would not considere going to church except in a suit. Some say "I can't stand that tie around my neck." Well, I am a good enough man that a little piece of cloth cant whip me. Although I would not dress down for church I am not going to look down my pharasaical nose at some one who does.

My wife and I will celebrate our 48th anniversary this week. We will go somewhere fairly nice for dinner and I will definitely have on a shirt and tie. If we were going to the local cat fish house or BBQ place I would probably wear a pair of slacks and a sport shirt.

Hmmm... interesting answers so far. I prefer to dress more down. I'll wear a cute top (usually a sweater up here!) if I want to dress it up a bit, but prefer a denim skirt. I even wear denim to church. Come to think of it, I think the only times I don't wear denim is if I'm in a strange dress up mood, it needs washed, or my night job (I'm not allowed there). :frog

I dress down just about every day. However, I enjoy dressing up now and then, but I don't have many dress up clothes especially now since I'm becoming a little greater with child every day and my maternity clothes are very limited. :uuhm: Sigh, someday I'll be thin again!

Dress Down.

I hate to dress up. The only time that I ever dress up is when I go to schools for observation (I am an education student) or for job interviews, and then the first thing I do when I have a chance is change my clothes. At my church almost everyone dress causally, so that is cool.

I didn't choose an option, 'cause it's both for me. I dress in the same way for work or church, except that at times I will wear a denim skirt to work. At home, I like to be comfortable, so it will be anything from my denim skirt to my night clothes.

I like the answer dress appropriately for the occasion. I'm not a dress up type person but I like to dress properly for where I'm going to be.

Before I was disabled when I was out taking care of the cows or chickens I did not dress up, but when I went to church and or a funeral service I did.

When the wife and I were going some where, I did not wear the clothes I wore while tending the cows and chickens, I would either wear jeans that were not faded, dress slacks and a shirt. I did not wear my work boots neither. I woudl always have my shirt tail in with a belt on.

I fail to understand why so many men hate suits and ties. One can be just as comfortable in a suit and tie at church as they can in dress slacks and a shirt or even jeans and a shirt. And why would anyone not want to dress up to go into public worship service at Jesus' Church Building gathered together with His brothers and sisters who make up His local church to show respect for our God and our Savior?

As for you women, I'm now 61 years of age, but if I remember right little girls always love to play dress up & look pretty and go places when they dress up. Did y'all out grow that?

Its amazing how sloppy many people dress in their public.

I will try to explain my feelings as to why I hate wearing suits and ties. First of all, I have never been as comfortable in a suit and tie as i have been in jeans and a shirt. Especially ties. To make the tie look decent, it has to be all the way up and to me it feels as if I am being choked.
But even more I feel as if I am trying to show off. Like I am trying to be better than those around me because of it. In my experience, and I understand that my experience is just that, and I am not trying to say that my experience is the norm or even common. But I am trying to explain my personal feelings. So please do not take offense at anything I say. At the church I grew up in one of the most Godly, kindest man in our church dressed causally. He was on the musical team and he played and sang in church wearing a Hawaiian shirt and sandals. On the other hand, some of the people who always dressed up played the church and Christian School politics game. When dressing up I feel as if I am trying to pull something over on people. In my personal experience people who dress casually are not trying to hid anything. While people who dress up are wanting everyone to think that they are better and good people.

I do know that this is not always true. It is something that I am working on.
