I put 1-10 because when someone asks "how do you feel" I answer back "Great", even if I am not. And that is a lie, even if I don't want to think of it as such. I lie, when someone wants me to do something with them, and I don't want to do it, I will say, O I can't, I'm too busy", even if I'm not. And really I don't think of them as lies. So, maybe I lie more than 10 times a day. I guess this is what you would call white lies.

The poll is flawed because it presumes that a person can't go a day without lying.

It is possible to go an entire day without telling a lie. While things like someone asking how you are and you reply "fine" when you really are not likely catches many of us many days, there are yet days when we don't even fall in such areas.

Myself, I selected 1-10 for today we went shopping and my wife asked me if I wanted something she saw me looking at and I told her "no" because I knew she hadn't budgeted for it, I didn't need it right then, and had I said, "yes, but...", she would have tried to talk me into buying it and if I did we would have spent too much money and if I didn't my wife would have felt bad about it.

That said, if the option to choose 0-10 were given, I would have chosen that.

Does anyone else believe a person can't go a day without telling a lie?

I think its possible, but I feel like there be few who really try going a day without lying.

I believe too, that for many Christians, they could do much better and not sin near as often if they really tired and did not have that thought, to use as an excuse, in their mind that we can't go 24 hours without sinning.

Yes, yes, yes.....Jerry....we know how you think about everyone else; but what about you?

As for me, with something of that nature, I will leave it up to the Judge, my Savior Jesus. I shall try with all my heart never to boast about my self, for I know I fall way to short of the glory of God.

I answered 0 but I honestly never thought about when someone ask you how your feeling and not bothering them with your aches and pains that your lying. Really don't think they want to know. Am I they only one who see's this, this way?

Like our pastor says, we shouldn't ask someone how they are if we don't really care and we aren't really willing to listen to them.

Sadly, most often we ask how someone is doing, or others ask us, as a form of greeting which they really mean as no more than "hi", and the actual question of how you are is considered rhetorical.

I put zero. Lying is just something I don't really struggle with.
God bless,
Crushmaster.

Praise God for that!

One thing we often fail to consider is that each of us not only have areas where we struggle (and most have at least one besetting sin), but we also have areas where have little or no struggle.

I know many folks have or do struggle with alcohol. That's one area I've never had a struggle with. I could sit in a bar all day listening to drinking songs and not be tempted to drink alcohol. Thanks be to God!!! (And no, I don't and wouldn't hang out in the bar:icon_mrgreen:)

I didn't answer...but would hope that it's 0! The thing about lying, though, is that we can do it by commission or omission...and sometimes just by our body language giving someone an impression that we didn't intend. That doesn't mean we all struggle with lying (like John said - glad you're back!), but we could inadvertantly be dishonest about something simply because we are all sinners.

As to when someone asks how I'm doing - I agree with John's pastor...if we don't want to know, we shouldn't ask (wouldn't a disinterested question actually be deceptive, therefore lying?). When people ask me, I usually answer, "I'm doing okay, thanks." Because if I'm there where they can ask, I am, even if if I'm in a lot of pain that particular day. I don't always return the question, because I don't want to ask it and not take the time to listen (like if I'm in a hurry to get somewhere).

I once went to tell my mother-in-law that I loved her. Then I was reminded that lying was a sin. So I did not say it...

By the way...this post is a lie. (I would never consider telling my mother-in-law that I love her!)
