Let's start a discussion for those of you that went to Bible College. Here are a few questions for you to answer. Feel free to copy and paste with our answers. What Bible College did you attend? Did you graduate? What was your Major What years did you attend? What did you like best about the college? What did you least like about the college? Would you recommend that school now? In your opinion, did the school properly train you for the ministry?

I'm in the process of moving the forum directory from the home to the public_html (root) directory. You may notice a few links broken, and they will be fixed soon. You may need to update any bookmarks that you have. Old Link: https://onlinebaptist.com/home New Link: https://onlinebaptist.com I apologize about any inconvenience this may cause, but it will help me as I grow online baptist by moving things into the root directory.

I like having the denomination in the profile field as some folks are not Baptist in name but are Baptistic in doctrine, which is the important thing. This poll is to reflect the IFB check box that was removed. Would you like to see it back in uses profile? If you would like it back but done differently, just check yes and reply here with your thoughts. Poll closes on 5/25/18. All voting results are public and there will be no Russian interference with this voting process.

Wow! I just signed in, as always, at the top of the page. But just now a little box came down asking me about my denomination etc. So I entered "baptist" and immediately a little black box came up and said "SAVED". Whew...now I have assurance. :)

It's been a couple years since I have been active on Online Baptist. It seems like the amount of activity on the forum is down significantly from where it was when I was here last. Just curious as to what people think are the reasons. Has other social media taken away from this forum?

Hi, all I am seriously thinking about visiting England for 3 weeks next May/June, and I'm looking for advice! Does anyone have information on must-see sites, tourist traps to avoid, or transportation tips to share (or just your random thoughts)? So far my (very rough) itinerary includes time in the Dales and Lake Country, Hadrian's Wall, Glyn Ceiriog, and maybe York, Bath, and Walton-on-the-Naze (this itinerary has been heavily influenced by the writings of James Herriot and Arthur Ransome). I don't really like cities; I'd like to see medieval sites, Roman remains and prehistoric sites (hill forts and excavated villas!). Tentatively, I'm planning on purchasing…

In Acts 8 we read of one Simon the Sorcerer, who made a profession of faith but was then rebuked for a serious failing. Was he a false convert, or was he truly saved, but in need of repentance after a fall? (Which can happen to any of us!)

Here's one I ran across in the current book I'm reading... "If the devil cannot make you proud of your attainments in the flesh, he will make you proud that you are not proud of your attainments in the flesh." Jack R. Taylor

I have an approved Form 4361 (exemption from Social Security and Medicare taxes on ministerial earnings). I have had this for about 20 years. My question is this: How does Obamacare effect those who already have an approved Form 4361? My reason for asking this is that when I applied for the 4361 exemption I had to agree to the following statement: "I certify that I am conscientiously opposed to, or because of my religious principles I am opposed to, the acceptance (for services I perform as a minister, member of a religious order not under a vow of poverty, or Christian Science practitioner) of any public insurance that makes payments in the event of death, disability…

I’m reading Exodus now and I’m just wondering whatever happened to the Manna that God instructed Israel to put in a jar to remind the nation of what God did for the nation of Israel. Maybe it’s replaced by the Bible, the word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God. Something that you need everyday. It could also be mercy which is renewed everyday. :) Going back to the manna. Since the temples were destroyed before, it probably was destroyed as well.

More Than Meets The Eye, Richard A. Swenson, MD, NAVPRESS, Tyndale House Publishers, Inc., Copyright 2000 Disclaimer: The scripture quotations used by Dr. Swenson are primarily from the MEVs, most frequently the NIV. I will only make the quotations from the 1769 KJV. Just how terrible or awesome is our God, the creator? When we think of ‘Creator of the universe’ what reference points do we use? How does our finite 3 lb. brain allow us to envision our God or His creation? I admit much of the data and many of the numbers presented herein are beyond my comprehension but, there is much about my God I won’t understand until I see Him face to face. Richard's book atte…

Climate change 1 2

So as not to sidetrack the presidential thread, but picking up on a particular subject (plus, since he is not MY president my input to that thread should be minimal). Climate change....... I have a few opinions on various aspects of the subject. First of all - the claims of climate change are based on the world's science. This is the same "science" that tells us that over millions of years there have been several (at least two is what I remember being taught) ice ages, all of which occurred (according to their science) before man came upon the scene. The question then must be asked: what caused these climate change events? And a second questi…

So I just bought a new bible. Oh how I love the feel of a new bible. :))))) My current bible is a little bit worn out, still in one piece but I just glued the spine together so the pages won't fall out. But it's still usable. I've had for 7 years (from when I got saved) and my notes are all in the margins and note pages. However, after I bought my Study Bible (I bought it for the pictures and geographical notes, mosty), I've been visiting the Christian Bookstore almost everyday. (Because I'm a hoarder and I buy things even when I dont need them. Please pray for me.) Bibles are 50% off since it's the Holy Week and I saw this blue Thomas Nelson Bible which has th…

Is it wrong for a christian to be depressed? The bible says that we are ought to rejoice in the Lord. And I don't know why I'm always sad or at least neutral. I went to a psychiatrist last year due to my eating problems and feeling depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts. I've never acted upon it and thank God for it. The doctor prescribed a few meds for my eating problems and "suicidal thoughts" but they don't really cure anything. They just make me weak and sleepy and I feel nothing. I've prayed for God to help me but I still feel sad all the time. I'll laugh at jokes with friends but generally, I feel so empty and sad. I know I should have joy for…

Brethren, One of the main reasons why I joined OnLineBaptist was its adherence to the King James Version of the Bible as the only version in the English language to be used as a scripture reference. Most of the folks here on OnLineBaptist know my stand for the KJV and my revulsion (yes, you read that correctly: revulsion), for any of the new versions (including the NKJV). After a thorough study of the issue (privately and up to a PhD in education), of the different versions of the Bible, I have long ago came to the conclusion that since the Revised Version (RV), of 1881 until the New King James Version (NKJV), all of these versions are corrupt in manuscrip…

In Oswald J. Smith’s book, The Man God Uses, 1932, Fifth Impression, 1943 Marshall, Morgan & Scott, LTD., London And Edinburgh It can be found as a download or purchased on line. There are only 116 pages. I will caution you on overtures toward ‘Wesleyan Holiness’ and some use of MEVs of his day. Beyond those concerns, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges set forth while reading Smith’s book, The Man God Uses (TMGU). It can be found as a download or purchased on line. There are only 116 pages. I hope to put much of this to work in my own life. Any IFB will receive a challenge for their own service to Christ and ministry for His glory from r…

The statement and question below resulted from reading the introduction to a book I most recently read. I won't attempt to smooth or reformat the thought or question...here they are raw. I don’t believe you can have service where there is no Spirit and no Spirit where there is no separation. Can you show me from scripture where I might be mistaken?

The American celebration of Thanksgiving is this month. It's usually a time when we reflect on the blessings we've received, and so I thought a thread dedicated to sharing those blessings would be a good idea. For me, after five years on the mission field I didn't have a proper oven, and now I do. And I'm so thankful for it that I did the unthinkable and signed up to cook a turkey for my church's Thanksgiving banquet! I'm also thankful for the safety God has given me while traveling. There has been two clear instances when I know God had been protecting me, and I'm sure many more I'll never know about. I'm thankful for my Pastor helping me find a cell pho…
