Members RayJr Posted October 22, 2007 Members Posted October 22, 2007 I was watching the history channel 2 night ago and they were triing to discount the fact that God parted the red sea and dried up the ground to let his people cross, They are triing to say that it was a misinterpritation and it should have been, the reed sea and that it was only 11 in deap, and it was connected to the mediteranean sea along the nile I believe, so that it would be affected by the tides. so they said that the tide went out and then they crossed and in the morning the army walked into it and the tide came back in and they got stuck and drowned in 11 in deap water. So Which is the greater miracle God parted the red sea or God drowned the Egyptian army in 11 in of water? Quote

Members zealyouthguy Posted October 22, 2007 Members Posted October 22, 2007 Well hoot hollering heyday... I surely expect some yahoo will come one, sign up for OLB just for this discussion to tell us how the Bible really DID mean the reed sea, etc. I've seen about every other strange doctrine and false teaching pop up recently. I fully expect to hear one from someone about how the Nephilim are really space aliens... (and yes there are people who believe that too). Quote
Members Charbo Posted October 22, 2007 Members Posted October 22, 2007 I heard this more than 30 years ago. You'd think the Bible rejecters would come up with something new. Quote

Those who believe the reed sea are usually the ones who believe the flood was not global. I just don't understand it. If there was no miracles, then why do the Isrealites even bother believe that God spoke to Moses. Why do they (the scholars who claim to be christians) believe in Christ but don't believe miracles occured in the OT. Quote
Members Kubel Posted October 24, 2007 Members Posted October 24, 2007 I was watching that same show. What really annoys me about the History Channel when they do Biblical episodes like that is they try to rationalize or explain away events as being less than supernatural. They did one on Noah and explained that there was no physical way for all the animals to fit in the ark according to the Biblical measurements- and that a boat of that size made of wood would have collapsed in on itself. "What is more likely is...". Um... that's why they are miracles... because mans idea of what's possible and likely is far different than Gods abilities. But I suppose it's nice to hear the critics once in a while just so we can remind ourselves how great God is. Quote

I fully expect to hear one from someone about how the Nephilim are really space aliens... (and yes there are people who believe that too). The Bible says God parted the "Red Sea"....end of story.I've seen about every other strange doctrine and false teaching pop up recently. Well.... Let's see....among other kooky things..... I've been taught from the pulpit....in an IFB church... 1."Angels cohabited with women"(and we better not disagree)...it was THAT important. 2.. Because of "Noah's curse"..."black people are meant to be slaves"....(and he loved to use the "N" word) And the last one has...and still does SERIOUS damage. As far as the "Nephilim" subject... My Bible says "giants"....... giants were simply big people.... Do you believe these were the offspring of angels/humans? I believe that the "sons of God" in Genesis 6 were simply believers, such as myself, in the true and living God, saved by grace through faith, plus or minus nothing. And, I'll take it a step further: I have a strange hunch that ANY mention of "sons of God", in the Bible, is referring to believers.....Including Job chapters 1,2, and 38. Oh yeah, according to how I read it: the Angels in the book of Jude did NOT "go after strange flesh" ...the Sodomites did that. Is that false doctrine? Quote
