Supposedly, you have to drink a lot of water to make up for the coffee in your system. But drinking a lot of coffee and having a lot of caffeine in your system is bad for you, anyway. Decaffeinated is generally worse because of the chemicals used in the decaffeination process.

I had a friend years ago that got so addicted to coffee that he would sometimes take a handful of instant coffee and pop it in his mouth and wash it down with water or a cup of coffee and then have some more coffee! YUCK! :bonK:

I drink coffee all the time because it taste better than water.

caffeine does not do ANYTHING to me. It used to, but now I can drink it at night and still fall asleep on it.

and I can go for days without coffee too without the crankiness. but I really hate other type of drinks, even soda (which have caffeine too) so I don't bother skipping coffee. Although, I do like sweetened Ice Tea (which is also have caffeine).

I have done decaffeinated coffee for a week too and I don't feel the difference from regular coffee.

The only time I went a long time without coffee is when I was pregnant.. I avoid coffee at all cost and I did not have a problem with it.

I think not getting enough fluid can make you cranky... and people don't drink enough of it so they make it up by drinking coffee. But then again, coffee can make you more dehydrated.

I would bet they could do a test and show it effects you, but that brings up the question of alcohol then. It affects different people differently. Same thing?

I love coffee.

I drink the Folgers and after it got really expensive (like $9.00USD for a "tub") I said "no more". I still drank it occasionally at work, but not as much. Then, the missus forund it on sale for almost half the price and bought back in.

I love the taste I always have. But, consider this, I come from a long line of coffee drinkers.

I guess I'm with the majority - moderation. I no longer drink coffee because it tears me up. For the longest time I drank decaf because I didn't like the idea of putting caffeine in my system. But even that was bad, since decaf is not 100% decaf. Also, if I get too much caffeine, it makes my heart erratic.

I think moderation is the key - and I have to say that I use caffeine medicinally as well. I have migraines, sometimes pretty severe, sometimes not. When they are just beginning (I can usually tell even before the pain hits), I will take Excederin for migraines...it contains acetominohen, aspirin and caffeine. The caffeine helps to open the blood vessels, which can sometimes relieve the migraine pain, if it hits in time. Not always.

Alcohol is specifically addressed in the Bible, isn't it?

I think there is a difference. :2cents :wink

I drink de-caf. They have decaf. they use water to decaffeinate, now. You pay more for it, though. Yes, de-caf. isn't always created equal--they actually did a study and tested them--some have more caffeine (though greatly less than regular coffee) than others....some have virtually none! If you don't like the caffeine, but like the coffee.......you can find one that has been tested to be closer to zero caffeine. Folders is a good brand, and their instant coffee is NO caffeine. I think caffeine, if used, should be used in moderation in a natural product (not a pill form). I think taking a pill form is different because coffee drinkers LIKE the taste of coffee--the side effect of energy is a bonus. I had a hard time getting away from caffeine when I got pregnant. I drink caffeine free pop sometimes or decaf. coffee or tea, but still only in moderation because our bodies need WATER. Try drinking the recommended 8- 8oz glasses of water a day, and see how much room you have for other stuff.

And while we're on these types of topics.........how about all of you herbal people out there (I am most definitely NOT in that class) What do you think about people taking herbs "for energy" and such......??

So THC is cool then too since it's NOT mentioned in the Bible?

Remember, we are taught principles, not rules.

Here is my point: in the Bible the idea is plainly taught that a person cannot be controlled by "wine" and the Holy Spirit simultaneously; I believe that is the "spirit of the law" and therefore the principle we can derive from the Bible. The use of a substance becomes sinful when it takes control of the believer away from the Holy Spirit. The use of alcohol, THC, LSD, marijuana, cocaine, and a plethora of other mind-altering drugs is sin against God for this reason. As far as I know, caffeine doesn't have the same effect on people. I rarely drink coffee or eat chocolate or consume much of anything that I know of that contains caffeine nor do I really care or purposely avoid it.

God's word teaches us another principle, namely that it is not what enters the body that defiles it; it is what comes out, often specifically what comes out of the mouth.(Mark 7:20; James 3:6 ; Rev. 21:27)

I didn't have my cup of coffee today because I was too busy Christmas shopping. Didn't have time to relax and have a cup of coffee. But no jittery feeling here. It just goes to show that I am not thinking about coffee all the time :frog

But I didn't have enough to drink today either except orange juice for breaksfast.

I shouldn't really be drinking coffee because I could get stained teeth. But this applies to sodas and iced teas too. I really need to be drinking water.. I thought I liked water, but I came to realize that I don't really care the taste of water otherwise I would be drinking it all the time. I don't care to drink soda either... My husband gets mad that I leave can with 3/4 soda left in it sitting on the table (I thought I would be able to finish the drink and I never do).. says I am wasting drinks!
