Curious, when did the military start accepting 16 yr olds?

My parents were willing to sign permission for me to enlist after HS graduation (17) - Vietnam era.

During the Civil War, some southern boys would a piece of paper in one boot when enlisting so the could "honestly" answer "yes sir" to the recruiter's question "Are you over sixteen?"

They accepted my brother in the US Army when he was 16, and I've had several nephews and nieces go in at that age. Ir'a not a practice they like to admit, but the will and do do it.

The liberal central government in Canada is imposing additional gun control completely opposite to the will of many of the people. You know what happened the last time they tried to make a long gun registry? Everyone simply chose not to comply. ? So they finally scrapped it, cause it wasn't working. But now they're putting it in sideways by trying to require everyone to register when they sell or purchase a firearm.

Don't copy Canada. Our government are idiots. Actually , cancel that. They're not idiots. They know exactly what they're doing to create an environment where they can exert total control over the populace. Covid gave them a marvellous excuse to start really enforcing socialist laws. Do you know that, as an unvaccinated citizen, I am not allowed to board a train or airplane in Canada? That I'm not allowed to work for the federal government, and a lot of other businesses too? But they're bringing in unvaccinated Ukrainians by the planeload, and the illegal border crossing at Roxham Road is still allowing in illegals from the US.

For anyone reading this who might actually support gun control, just remember two things. Bad guys don't follow the laws. And no matter how you feel about guns, you should educate yourself with the historical truths of disarmed populations (quote borrowed).

I've heard since Castro's son made the decree Canadians have been buying more guns than ever.

Taiwan are arming their citizens and teaching them how to use a gun. This is what happens when Nation’s ban guns, they repent during War time’s. Just like what is happening in Ukraine now. Everyone is seeking weapons.

I can see that this administration is doing it's best to disarm the law abiding gun owners from purchasing and keeping their arms. But, I know far too many who are against this, including myself. I am a law abiding citizen, and I am a registered gun owner. Most of my family members are as well, especially since many are military, or are in law enforcement. None of us are willing to just "hand over" our arms to this tyrannical administration in power, nor would we be willing to just give them up. Those who are criminals don't care about the gun laws in this country anyhow, and those of us who have guns legally need them for protection, hunting, and for recreational shooting.

Taiwan is not arming their citizens. Taiwan does not ban guns, they just have very strict gun control. Shooting ranges have already been popular here for a long time, but yes, because of the Ukraine situation more and more people are signing up at these shooting ranges so they can be better prepared just in case China stops strutting around like a peacock and actually does attack. These shooting ranges use airsoft guns, not "real" guns.
