Do you think that would be possible? Could anyone get enough power, people behind them to do this?

Do you think a president could ever go into office and refuse to step down?

Not sure, but they would have to win the law over first because they would probably be taken out by force otherwise.

They can, but it is a LONG process. States will have to come together again and hold another constitutional convention, where they draft a new foundational document. The states would have to ratify that new document.

Probably only by legal means. I would see a "coup" as only being possible by God's intervention as every elected official, all military members and civilian law enforcement members take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and they take that very seriously......

I was by no means thinking our government needs to be overthrown if McCain is not elected our next president.

My only thought was could it happen

No doubt there are plenty of power hungry people, and someone setting atop and controlling this country could have millions in his hand and would be the most powerful man in the world.

I know to there are many golden tongue taking people who have a way with people. them caring for that person and almost doing anything for them for they have done them many favors. Such a person with the right friends in the right places calling in the favors he had done for them, I was wondering if they could successful take over our government.

To me it doesn't have far to go, most of our politicians have already sold out to the big companies and so most of the things our congressmen do is so these companies can make a bigger profit, that is clear for anyone who take an honest look at our government, if it were not so our government would not be bailing out the big dogs with tax money.

Most of our congressmen love it the way it is, they actually have to work very little and they are passing out enough grants and such stuff to their home states to buy votes to keep them in the congress. I've noticed when congressman run for reelection one thing they make sure their home state knows is how much money they were able to obtain for their home state. Sad, that's buying votes, buying votes with the voters hard earned money they have had taken from them in the form of taxes. Oh, this is what they call pork barrel spending, no state really wants the pork cut out, at least not in their state, just in all the other states.

What is amazing to me as well, seems there be many who think McCain can make it better when he is actually has been a big part of the problem for many years, that problem being where our country is at this point.

Actually if we had a real honest government, real honest politicians in Washington, this country would be thriving right now and it would not be one big mess after another in Washington.

But I do feel we will have on day a man who wants to be in control of the whole thing and has worked his self into a position to do so by doing many favors and attempt at least to take over America, he just might succeed.

He will create a civilian national defense group (um, just for comparison sake - that's what Hitler's Brown Shirts started as...). And don't think it will be voluntary in the long run...

He will tax our guns and ammo to the point where we cannot afford them, and encourage local ordinances outlawing guns (he has said that it doesn't need to be done on a federal level, it is more effective on a local level...).

He will raise taxes - regardless of what people want to think, he will raise taxes. His excuse? Well, you know, one can't fund all those trillions of dollars in new programs without money. And George Soros and Warren Buffet ain't gonna volunteer!

He will appoint justices to the SCOTUS who view the Constitution in the same way he does - a living document that needs to move with the times...

Babies will continue to be murdered...and who knows about old people and handicapped? They do not contribute to society, they drain resources, so maybe they should go....

Yes, God is still on the throne, regardless of who is in office. But let's remember that He was on the throne during the Holocaust, too...and it still happened. Evil still exists and will continue to try and triumph. And this country deserves the judgment, no doubt. But my prayer has been and is still: "In wrath, remember mercy."

Yes, God is on the throne, and He doesn't always interfere, we have proof of that with all the bad things people do, like murder and rape.

When the people wanted a king, He gave them a king and warned them what would happen. Now our country seems to want Obama, those who are not in his pocket just might not like what they get.

But what happens if an increasingly corrupt government should order the military to do things that violate the Constitution that they take so seriously?
