It has been said by many that in the story of the widow who put her last two mites in the Temple Treasury was being commended by Jesus after she did so. I am not so sure this was the case. Notice: Mark 12:38-44 And he said unto them in his doctrine, BEWARE OF THE SCRIBES, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: WHICH DEVOUR WIDOWS HOUSES, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there cam…

Merry Christmas to all. May God bless you and your family during this holiday season. May the song, especially the meaning of the words of, "O Come, O come, Emmanuel," be a blessing to you this holiday season. If any of the brethren have a favorite Christmas song (that is traditional in music, or classical in style, and not CCC), and would like to add it this thread please do so! Alan

Been a subject for discussion between some here and I wondered just how many here do like Scofield's Study Bible and it's notes where he teaches Dispensational doctrine.

Disciples of Christ Beliefs and Practices Explore the Beliefs of the Disciples of Christ (Christian Church) By Jack Zavada, About.com Contributing Writer The Disciples of Christ, also known as the Christian Church, has no creed and gives its congregations complete autonomy in their doctrine. As a result, beliefs vary widely from individual church to church, and even among members within a church. Disciples of Christ Beliefs Baptism - Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It signifies new birth, a cleansing from sin, the individual's response to God's grace, and acceptance into the faith community. Bible - Disciples of Christ con…

This is a "poll" but I don't know the proper way to do one. I just punched a 1/2" plug out of these two "Silver Eagles" and am ready to start forming them into rings. If you had one made, would you prefer the "United States of America 1 Oz Fine Silver......" on the outside, or "Liberty, In God We Trust", and your birth year? All words should be visible, but some will be on the "inside" of the ring. These two are for Christmas gifts and I am NOT trying to sell anything to any of y'all. Just would like some opinions. (sorry for the bad cellphone pics) Thanks

I don't know if everyone celebrates Thanksgiving, but it's good to always take the time to be thankful. What are you thankful for? I am thankful for our loving Heavenly Father, my Savior, God's precious Word, and His countless blessings on me: my wonderful husband, my talented son, the rest of my family, my dearest friends, my church family and my internet friends -- just the tip of the iceberg! I'm also especially thankful that hubby and I will be leaving tomorrow for a much needed weekend away at the family cabin for my birthday. So excited!

We are living in trouble times and the wacko's are loose. Once the gay movement moves into your home town, thing are going to change my friend, and if you are preaching against them, you will be at risk. Defend your self and the ones you love. You have the right."

Today I drove onto base to collect hubby from work and saw some people out running, but they were running backwards. I had drove on base a couple weeks ago on a very nice day to find 5-7 people running backward around the building. I find it amusing because hubby inadvertently started this. When he was working with recruits he would lead them in physical fitness training, trying to get them ready to pass the physical fitness test before shipping off to boot camp. Most of these kids are involved in no physical activity at all, except that of their thumbs (video games) So leading them in the 2 mile run was challenging. Hubby would hang back with the stragglers and freq…

..................I want to pet you." She never said that but for a time, as she tried in vain to overtake them, she was holding her tiny palm up in a petting motion. So we got some feed, the tame sheep came near, and we let her pet them.

Just made this one for my 2yo grand daughter's birthday. She will have to grow into it, but her eyes lit up when she saw it. She rode it a little, then got down and petted it. The bronco-buster in the photo is my 7yo grandson.

MINNEAPOLIS (The Borowitz Report) – Scientists have discovered a powerful new strain of fact-resistant humans who are threatening the ability of Earth to sustain life, a sobering new study reports. The research, conducted by the University of Minnesota, identifies a virulent strain of humans who are virtually immune to any form of verifiable knowledge, leaving scientists at a loss as to how to combat them.“These humans appear to have all the faculties necessary to receive and process information,” Davis Logsdon, one of the scientists who contributed to the study, said. “And yet, somehow, they have developed defenses that, for all intents and purposes, have rendered those f…

Yesterday 1st Nov was the warmest November day on record in some parts of UK. Not in this part though. It was cold with a heavy mist with fog in the evening. Today was much the same although a neighbour said the sun came out for a while at midday, I didn't see it though. One lady from church said it was very thick down in town but when she went home to Canterbury 9 miles away, it changed halfway as she went over a hill and was bright sunshine. the other side. Fog and mist is usual for November in this country, which prompted Thomas hood to write this poem. No sun - no moon! No morn - no noon - No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of…

Those interested in Bible prophecy must see this. It exposes the pretrib rapture for the fraud that it is. The bible is clear, the Day of the Lord is the 2nd coming/Rapture....and it all occurs after the tribulation (Matt 24:29). Pretribbers have no clear bible verses saying it happens before the tribulation. This lie has been made mainstream by the zionist funded commentary of CI Scoefield, which has also confused christians on who is the seed of Abraham. You will learn that wrath and tribulation are 2 different things. Christians aren't appointed to wrath, but throughout the bible we are appointed to tribulation. Open your mind, take off the blinding pretrib glasses and…

Spurgeon Morning and Evening October 16 — Morning {Daily Reading: #Mr 8:1-9:50 } {Quick Study: #Mr 14:1-16:20 } Jesus says to them, “Come and dine.” {#Joh 21:12 } In these words the believer is invited to a holy nearness to Jesus. “Come and dine,” implies the same table, the same food; indeed, and sometimes it means to sit side by side, and lean our head upon the Saviour’s bosom. It is being brought into the banqueting house, where the banner of redeeming love is waving. “Come and dine,” gives us a vision of union with Jesus, because the only food that we can feast upon when we dine with Jesus is himself. Oh, what union is this! It is a depth which reason cannot fath…

Ian, I understand you may become somewhat surprised, disappointed, even have some frustration for this thread. The thread is discussing the need for knowledge of grammar to understand our Bible. Our 1769 KJV AV was for the most part written in Modern English or Early Modern English. Some sentences are straight forward in our Bible. For others we must resort to helps and a careful analysis of structure and word usage. We depend on the Holy Spirit to assist us in understanding but, sometimes personally, I believe He tells me to use the helps He has already permitted man to accumulate. Other times, I believe God just makes us wait for understanding. For example, I have a W…

Okay, this poll is not anything that is doctrinal or anything too spiritual, but rather a preference. Churches traditionally have the Mid week service on either Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Which night would you prefer for the midweek service? Since Wednesday and Thursday's are the most popular, I will only include those in the poll.

You are partly correct. Modern pre tribulational teaching developed from Ribera's work. It didn't exist before. Not one of the "Primitive Writers" taught any such thing. However much you search, you will not find it. It did not begin to develop until after 1830. The "Primitive Writers" all taught that the book of revelation was regarding the Church, that the Temple was the Church, that the Jews represented Christians. The let and hindrance in 2 Thess 2 were the Emperor and the Empire.

103-year-old Georgia woman banned from her churchFor nearly a century, 103-year-old Genora Hamm Biggs has attended the Union Grove Baptist Church in Georgia -- even working as the church's secretary for some 40 years. But Biggs -- a parishioner since she was 11 years old -- was banned last month from attending after she disagreed with the church's pastor over his preaching style, Fox affiliate WAGA-TV reported. ADVERTISEMENT On Sunday, law enforcement was called to the small, white church in Elberton, Ga., after Biggs decided to attend service anyway, according to the station. Police said there was nothing they could do because the matter is a civil dispute between Biggs…
