If the Holy Spirit is the One who will guide us into ALL TRUTH (cf. 1 Kgs. 17:24; Jn. 8:32; 16:13; 17:17; cf. 18:37-38; Eph. 1:13-14; 1 Jn. 1:8; 4:6; et al.), then why are there so many doctrinal disagreements within the Body of Christ? I'm sure all of us have heard fellow believers tell us: "I know that I'm correct in my belief because the Holy Spirit told me so!" If a person is so arrogant, so lacking in basic humility, that they believe whatever they "feel" is right and that "feeling" is the presence of the Spirit validating their "feeling", then they are far out of the will of God and going their OWN rebellious way (cf. Gen. 6:3; Isa. 63:10; Ps. 106:33; Zech. 7:1…

I and my Father are one. (John 10:30) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that [they may be one, even AS we are one]: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:22-23) Does John 10:30 teach us that Jesus did NOT claim to be Deity when proclaimed that He and His Father are ONE -- because we may also be ONE "even as" they are ONE? Why are there so many doctrinal disagreements within the Body of Christ if the Holy Spirit dwells in all genuine believers who possess the Truth? Jesus could not make the statement He made …

I found this an interesting (and telling!) study on the state of Biblical knowledge in America today. The contradictions in what evangelicals believe is rather alarming. https://thestateoftheology.com/

How does the bible define TRUE WORSHIP? But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24) Is it singing? Is it ministering? Is it obedience? An interesting question indeed, because "worship" is an English word and the entire way we use that word with all of its modern-day connotations has no direct referent in scripture (cf. Mk.7:7; Jn. 4:23-24; Col. 3:16; Rev. 22:8). In the Bible, the two words in the Hebrew translated for "worship" literally means, "do work f…

PSALM 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. 7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. …

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3) For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10) The Greek noun *metanoia* and verb *metanoeo* are composed of two morphemes meaning "change" and "mind". Words, however, mean what they mean as used in the language in which they are used, so etymology only takes us so far. An abhorrence of sin is often identified as part and parcel of the act of repentance. "Hatred of sin" is nowhere present in the words or their usage, even though some people may repent for that reason. The scripture makes the …

Topic: Bad Doctrine ='s Bad Behavior. Have you ever noticed that just about ALL false teachers have a rotten attitude? They seem to go in lockstep whenever this is brought to the fore. For example: I heard an argument just today about Eternal Security over one famous passage in scripture used by Eternal Security proponents; it was dealing with John 10:27-29. This man wrote an entire book (almost 900 pages) supposedly "refuting" Eternal Security, and he began with John 10:27-29. He is an Arminian who teaches that Jesus' *sheep* in that passage can "willfully" remove him/herself from Jesus' hand. His argument was that the verb "pluck" (Grk. *harpazo*) is indicative of…

With all the garbage on TV and in the world today; it is not easy to filter out all the worldly trash that tries to enter our minds. Keeping ourselves constantly occupied with doing the Lord's will and lots of praying seems to be the best remedy to stay focused on spiritual matters so that we may grow thereby. As John says . . . And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us. And if we know that He heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. (1 John 5:14-15) So having one's prayers answered is a good sign that one is "zoned in…

A detailed analysis of the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:21-35): I have read several commentaries on this parable with each having a different interpretation of the passage in question. Some have suggested that the unforgiving servant refers to a *true* believer; while others have suggested that it refers to an unregenerate person. My take on this is that it refers to ANYONE -- whether saved or not. Jesus COMMANDS us to forgive others even if they have done NO WRONG. That is, we are not to harbor any root of bitterness within us towards our fellow human beings (cf. Ps. 51:10-13; Prov. 14:10; Eph. 4:26,31; Heb. 12:15; Js. 3:14; cf. 4:1-2; 1 Jn. 2:9). …

Brethren, I would like to do a review of the book written by Clarence Larkin, "The Spirit World." For those brethren who do not have a copy, a free PDF copy can be obtained by the following website: http://www.earnestlycontendingforthefaith.com/Books/Clarence Larkin/TheSpiritWorld/ClarenceLarkinTheSpiritWorld01.html I would suggest that those who obtain the PDF copy "The Spirit world" to read the foreword. The material contained in Larkin's, "The Spirit World," both written and how he presents it on the charts, is, except for a few notable exceptions, excellent material for a better understanding of the scriptures. In my previous study on Larkin's, …

Satan is trying to stop me from posting a thread. I was able to post here in the morning, but all of a sudden I can't even edit my post correctly or add anything to it. I have to post only 1 or 2 paragraphs in order for it to submit. I also have to post it here in the Lounge because, for some reason . . . I can't submit a thread in Biblical Issues. Are you absolutely certain without a tinge of a doubt within your heart and mind that you are TRULY born-again? And will you be on your way to heaven if you were to die today? I will attempt to make this message clear as possible to understand because there are professing Christians who have failed to see the forest for th…

All sins make my blood boil; but there is one sin in particular that angers me more than other sins -- and that's the sin of lying. I was at a non-denominational, non-profit ministry for the homeless here in Oakland when someone had asked me if I would "bear false witness" to save the lives of 100 Jewish people? My reply was that the Lord would speak to my heart at that given situation as to how to respond if such a situation would to occur. He began spouting off tirades about how Christians are self-righteous (really?). I'm still VERY ANGRY as of now, and it's very noticeable by anyone who are near me. Now the Bible explicitly says that Rahab was a woman of great faith w…

I often wonder where the fossils of Dinosaurs came from. What was the crafty old serpent up to before the fall of man? There are many Hieroglyphs that depict images of "Chimeras" (e.g., a man with a bird's head). So why did the Egyptians carve these images? Did Chimeras exist? What I've written is just a theory and NOT a fact -- nor does it contain any biblical facts contained in Scripture. I am surmising on what could have been a possibility. Who constructed the pyramids, and when were they built? There are many examples of this sort of thing in all ancient mythologies, but as far as I am aware no fossil evidence for anything of the kind. In Greek antiquity, dinosau…

A few months ago I came face to face with an image of evil that manifested itself through another, during a brief meeting at church. It is hard to adequately detail the image of evil I 'really' witnessed short of an artistic rendition. This individual came against me to the point that either satan himself or just a run of the mill demon manifested over this man and needless to say, the experience unnerved me initially while almost instantly a peace came over me. It was like nothing I had ever witnessed before! I ended the meeting and departed the room. Basically, what I witnessed was a face of evil in that a shadow fell over this man like he was wearing a lar…

And the God of peace [shall bruise Satan UNDER YOUR FEET] shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. (Romans 16:20) The Greek verb syntribo means to bruise or to crush; and in the context of this verse it means to deal a "fatal" blow to the adversary. Survivalists are known for their expertise on how to deal with deadly creatures in the wilderness. When encountering a serpent, they would often decapitate the head and bury it under a pile of dirt or sand, because the serpent can still sink its fangs into them -- even without their bodies. I thought to myself . . . why not just CRUSH the head of the serpent instead? Wouldn't the One who created ALL …

LIFE IS WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT A son and his father were walking in the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" Curious, he yells: "Who are you?" He receives the answer: "Who are you?" Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!" He receives the answer: "Coward!" He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?" The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention." And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!" The voice answers: "I admire you!" Again the…

Someone had asked me the other day: "Bro Dan . . . do you have any words of Prophecy?" I said to him, "as a matter of fact I do . . . here's one": And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be TORMENTED DAY AND NIGHT FOR EVER AND EVER.
