I want to grow some plants for healing and eating. I live in Mississippi. I have a heap of planters, and can get some dirt. I cannot get much else, so I don't want anything where I need trellis' or garden beds. Here are some things I want to grow: * Marigolds * Lavender * Mint (spearmint and peppermint) * Strawberries * Raspberries * Blueberries What other things can I plant in planters and dirt and require nothing else?

Homesteading with no land and no space

I am wanting to get as homestead minded as possible as I believe this will render great health and financial benefits to our family and make us more self-sufficient (although I'd prefer to say God-sufficient lol). I am interested in learning about canning like I mentioned in another thread. I want to grow some herbs and things and learn how to make tinctures and medicines and soaps and lotions for our family and maybe to sell at local markets etc. Do any of you guys do any "homesteading" activities with little land or space? What are your secrets, and what aspects of it do you enjoy?

Happy Mothers day moms. Mother's Day is a day of celebration for Moms. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and "I Love You's from the family."

Tonight my family was in a car accident (noone was hurt not dads fault). Our tire was broke and we sat on the side of the high way for nearly two hours. No big deal right? Till I called work a second time the first time I told my assistent manager ( he was the one working) I was going to try and make it in but was not sure if I could. When I called the second time I told him that I would not be able to make it at all that we could not get the van fixed right there and I had no way out there. He made the statement that he knew this was going to happen I said my family was just in a car wreck and he interrupted me and started to say something else about it so I hung up c…

What do you typically picture when the word 'love' is mentioned? Is it sweet-scented roses or gazing adoringly into the eyes of the one you want to spend forever with? If you're anything like me, that's the kind of picture of love that entered your mind. For us girls it may be the thought of securely being enfolded in the arms of the man who controls the speed of your heartbeat. For the guys it might be the thought of your sweetheart telling you how much she loves you and telling you you're her hero. Regardless of what your picture of love specifically looks like, it more than likely resolves around a person of the opposite sex, a person who can reach in and touch your he…

It's not something that I have accomplished... but something that I agree with and try to do... Anyone into sustainable living/gardening/farming here? We raise chickens, turkeys, pigs, rabbits, goats. We don't use growth hormones, we grow organically with no chemicals and we can our excess. Still have a long way to go, but I can't help but feel a lot better about our food when I hear about antifreeze in chinese toothpaste, food recall after food recall, etc.

Baseball season is here. We are one of the only churches in our community that hold services in Wednsday night. So our kids who play get singled out becuase most family honor church before baseball. I have been vocal to the Baseball committee for years. They cringe when im at a meeting because they know they are gonna hear about it. Anyone else have problems like this in your area over sports. P.S. It alarmed me but didnt suprise me to learn other churches (who used to have wednsday services dont) They are shocked when they hear we have Wednsday services.

Do any of you go to false teaching message boards such as Catholics, Pentecostals, Jehovah Witnesses for the purpose of correcting them? I ask this because of the recent invasion of RCC members on this message board. I don't. Just as I don't go to false teaching churches on Sunday morning to try and correct them, to me that would be an improper way to go about it, besides my place on Sunday morning is in my home church. A long time back I went to a United Pentecostal Board, lurked in the background and read numerous post, but I did not jump in and tell them how wrong they were. I really don't think I would have been welcomed or appreciated.

When I was growing up, I knew many women who had never worked at a public job, but I don't believe I know a single woman now who has not had a job at one time or the other.

If a child's parents, by their religious beliefs, believes in only praying for their sick children, do you think its proper for the government to intervene and take them to a doctor? If no, please give the reason why you say no and that our goverment should not have that authority.

I have already lost 3 games, I picked Kentucky over Marquette, BYU over Texas A&m, and Baylor over Purdue. No real damage yet, I am worrying about Duke almost losing to Belmont. I got Duke going to the sweet 16 and losing to Xavier. Boy is this exciting :lol

Please make sure to have your current email address listed in your profile settings. This isn't for me to send out mass emails (last one I sent out was years ago), but rather for you to take full advantage of the boards features. I only say this because I have been getting some bad emails bounced back, so I thought I would remind everyone. Have a great day.

I might plant a garden if my back improves in time! My ladder broke in two, and I fell against an oil tank! That hurts! Ouch! I enjoy gardening, running, bicycling, and weight lifting. Until my back gets better, i had to forgo running for the short duration! i love gardening, and my garden will be in a different location this year because of troublesome weeds!

I asked this on another forum, but I thought ya'll point of view would be interesting... What standards/doctrines are you not willing to disagree on in your future spouse? (IOW which do you have to agree on, or at least not be total opposites or else its a deal breaker) for example, you believe CCM is ok, they are traditional you believe drinking is ok, they don't you are for bc, they aren't etc... (clear as mud?)
