My brother and his family were here for the week. They have five children, and there were 13 of us staying in my parents house all week - what a houseful! Anyways, it was a good week overall, and they just left this morning. I'm so exhausted!!! I feel like I'll need a week to recover - both physically and mentally! I don't know how you mothers with a number of children make it, especially when you're pregnant! We ended the week on a good note last night with a birthday party for our nephew who turned 4 on August 1st, and my hubby who's birthday is today! Since my nephew already had another party for his birthday, and since he knew that he would be 5 on his next b…

Announcing the new Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge device, otherwise known as the BOOK. It's a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on. It's so easy to use even a child can operate it. Just lift its cover. Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere -- even sitting in an armchair by the fire -- yet it is powerful enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM disk. Here's how it works: each BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (recyclable), each capable of holding thousands of bits of information. These pages are locked together with a custom-fit devic…

NOAH FLOATED HIS WHOLE STOCK By Betty Freauf August 9, 2008 NewsWithViews.com In my last article, WILL PRIDE DESTROY AMERICA? I closed with a comment on Noah's Ark. Genesis 38 may not read as though it would be the most interesting chapter in the Book, but what is amazing is that our Lord Jesus came through this sinful line of Judah ? a line where all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and yet He was without sin. Of course, he was God manifested in the flesh and God cannot sin. I endeavored to show in the article how sin began and its consequences. Our entire world today seems to be on a similar collision course due to unrepentant sin. In Noah?s da…

Last night in the hot tub, the sky was clear and the stars brilliant. The falling stars I saw were magnificent. It was a wonderful time of worship with my Lord. Then at about 3:00 am a lightening storm came in. Lightening hit twice on out block by our house. IT SCARED US ALL AWAKE. The dogs freaked out and everything. The next thing I thought was how much power was in that lightening, and that it is nothing compared to God's power. Very Very humbling. Just wanted to share.

Can anyone give me some suggestions for fundamental and doctrinally sound curriculum materials for Sunday school and youth group. My church is a fundamental, independant, baptist church, and the only curriculum I have found that we like is from Regular Baptist Press. However, I don't think their materials for youth group are really what I'm looking for as they don't seem to cover a very wide range of ages effectively. Please post your suggestions or send me a private message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God Bless.

Writing Christian Fiction -- opinions
by Guest Guest- 5 replies

I didn't want to "take over" the "what are you currently reading" thread so I thought that I would start this here. I enjoy reading "real" Christian fiction...I don't like the sappy worldly romance stuff that has a few "Christian" words thrown in so that they can call it "Christian romance". I don't like regular "Christian fiction" that has a few "Jesus loves me's" thrown into a secular story to make it "Christian". I like true Christian fiction about true Christian people that are at least making an effort to live for the Lord, with good plots etc. I am looking at writing a piece of fiction myself, and I'm not sure yet exactly how long it is going to work out being…

An older man in our church went to Heaven this weekend. The funeral was today. It was a good funeral because, sad as his going is, he is in Heaven. What comfort for his family and friends. One of the groups in our church sang the song "Finally Home." The lyrics are: When alarmed by the fury of the restless sea, Towering waves before you roll, At the end of doubt and peril is eternity, Though fear and conflict seize your soul Just think of stepping on shore, and finding it heaven Of touching a hand, and finding it God's Of breathing new air, and finding it celestial Of waking up in Glory, and finding it "Home" When surrounded by the blackness of the darkes…

I read this online reccently and wondered why people would trust in someone who puts Childrens lives in danger. When I read this I was angry but I am not surprised because it is the catholic chuurch. Pope 'led cover-up of child abuse by priests' The Pope played a leading role in a systematic cover-up of child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests, according to a shocking documentary to be screened by the BBC tonight. In 2001, while he was a cardinal, he issued a secret Vatican edict to Catholic bishops all over the world, instructing them to put the Church's interests ahead of child safety. The document recommended that rather than reporting sexual abuse to the re…

A week or two ago, my hubby and I were in the city at a thrift store, and some guy came up to us inside the store asking for something like 68 cents for a bus ride I guess. He was by no means an invalid as he seemed to have this nervous energy walking around the place and asking other people for money too. My husband told him that he doesn't make a habit of giving out money, but we'd be glad to take him to the bus stop outside and pay for a bus ride for him. The guy rushed around in the store while waiting for us to leave, and then walked with us to our car. At this time he only asked for 20 cents, and then a few minutes later it was another small amount. It was clea…

I know there have been some threads with pics on them...so, I'm not necessarily talking about those people. (I haven't really looked at the pic threads in detail anyway.) So, I'm going to tell you all how I picture some of you, as you sit at your computers, interacting on this board. Trish has a heart-shaped face with a sweet smile. Her hair is shoulder length and wavy, with a few bangs. Jerry has salt-and-pepper, combed-over hair and glasses. He is wearing either a shirt and tie or polo-type shirt and khakis (and is lapping up coffee ). Jerry#s is in a comfortable sweat suit (light blue with a dark blue stripe down the sides). Seth Doty is young...maybe cowbo…

From OneNewsNows... In Matthew 10, Jesus, in regards to a specific mission trip by the disciples, not as a command to every Christian said, "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, le…

Last Wednesday (July 23rd, 2008) godsgurlie_077 and I got married. We had a very private wedding. Didn't want anything too fancy in considering the judgment seat of Christ; regarding stewardship of finances. She will be a Biblical keeper AT the home. In contrast to: 1 Tim 5:13 13And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. Not some idle woman at home. Interestingly enough The Bible describes the whorish woman as one who: Prov 7:11 11(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: My wife is meek and quiet: 1 Pet 3:1-7 1Li…
