Don't recall if this was posted before or not, but Genesis 1:1 establishes 3 laws needed for anything to exist, Time, Space and Matter; in that order too!

Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning (time) God created the heaven (space) and the earth (matter)."

Poor atheists.

swathdiver,

I double-checked the previous lessons and I cannot find anything in this thread that mentioned about Genesis 1:1 and the 3 laws; Time, Space, and Matter for anything to exist. I vaguely remember something in times past here on OnLine Baptist that I heard of this. Maybe an article by Dr. Morris brought it out (or maybe I read about it somewhere else).

Either way, the scientific premise is there in Genesis 1:1. If you would like to develop it further and incorporate the lesson here, or in your own thread, I think it would be a blessing to all of us.

If you do not develop it further,  I will try and find out more information concerning Genesis 1:1: Time, space and Matter and see if I can develop it.

Brother Stafford,

Thank you for the information. The more I hear the more I feel we need to do a serious study on the scientific analysis on Genesis 1:1

Brethren,

Anybody else have anything to add? All comments, or references to materials dealing with the scientific aspect of Genesis 1:1, is appreciated.

The Physics, both known and unknown, involved in such a study is somewhat beyond my current comprehension and any help is greatly appreciated.

I have also heard the phrase, “trinity of trinities” connected to this verse.

In the beginning (time) God created the heaven (space) and the earth (matter).

Time: past, present and future

Space: length, width and height

Matter: solid, liquid and gas.

Very interesting, I wonder how many other hidden-in-plain sight trinities there are in the Word. I am thinking of a couple but it would need a new thread I reckon.

In Victorian England Herbert Spencer won an award for discovering the 5 categories of science.

Time

Force

Action

Space

Matter.

There was only 1 problem - Genesis 1 v 1 got there first.

In the beginning - Time

God - Force (of course, God is more than a force, but you get my meaning)

Created - action

Heaven- Space

Earth - Matter.

Sorry, Herbert, old son, you're about 6,000 years too late !!

Bro. Hutton,

Thank you for your comments on Genesis 1:1 and bringing out the 5 catagories of Science as discovered by Herbert Spencer. Your posting is a welcome addition to this study and your comments are always welcomed.

As a devout evolutionist, Herbert Spencer would never accept the concept that the 'force' of Science would be by the creative act of God. I am of the opinion that Spencers ideas on Philosophy (besides being one of the founders of modern evolution), hindered his scientific abilities.

Brethren,

I have not forgotten this thread. I am in the process of developing the next study on Scientific Facts in the Bible. For those who know me they understand that I am slow on a lot of things as I have too many irons in the fire (everything I do is a slow process so I appreciate your patience).

The sun, I believe, qualifies there: Light, heat, and radiation, (Yes, I know heat is a product of radiation, but it puts out other types of radiations that have other effects). We see the light, feel the heat, and experience other effects, neither directly seen nor felt, (Vit D from the sun, etc).

Ukulelemike brought out that the sun, and its physical properites, are governed by scientific laws; or as the scriptures say, ordinances.

Just now, Alan said:

The Ordinances of Heaven

Job 38:33, “Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? An ordinance is an established law or rule.

Astronomer and mathematician, Johannes Kepler 1571-1630, verified that the sun and the planets are governed by scientific laws, or ordinances. Johannes Kepler was a devout Christian. Kepler believed that God created the universe as the Bible says He did.

Psalm 119: 90 & 91, “Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.”  All of the ordinances of the physical universe were established by God. The ordinances of heaven include: the revolution of the earth the planets, the solar system, the revolution of the galaxy, and gravity. These ordinances were not understood throughout the centuries until scientists verified the ordinances of the solar system.

Johannes Kepler, and other scientists, has verified that the universe and all biological life is based on scientific fact. Evolution is based on randomness not verifiable scientific fact.

Jeremiah 31: 35-37, “Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.”

God established the ordinances of heaven, the physical universe, in Genesis chapter 1. These ordinances will continue until He creates the new heaven and the new earth: Isaiah 66: 22; 2 Peter 3:10-13 and Revelation 21:1

All of the known universe, from the stars that we can see to the radiation and the effects we cannot see, is governed by ordinances; or scientific laws.

Brethren,

In the preparation of the next lesson, I have decided to slowly correct the grammatical, spelling, and any scientific, historical, dating, errors in the past lessons in order to eventually present all of these lessons (free of charge), to the brethren here on OnLine Baptist in PDF format. So, if there are any errors that you discover in my usage of scripture, scientific analysis, error in reasoning or logic, in any past lesson, feel free to bring it to my attention and we will discuss your findings.

Jeremiah 33:22, The Host of Heaven Cannot be numbered.

“As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.” Jeremiah 33:22 According to Archbishop James Ussher, “Annals of the World,” this date of this passage of scripture was written in 590 B.C.https://archive.org/details/AnnalsOfTheWorld page 138

Up to this day, the statement, “As the host of heaven cannot be numbered ...” is scientifically accurate, observable through the usage of modern telescopes, and verifiable. The number of the host of heaven, the stars (not even including the planetary bodies in each solar system), cannot be numbered by man nor computer.

Therefore, the scriptures are scientifically accurate and reliable.

NASA photo - "Hubble Sees a Legion of Galaxies."

This is a 'parallel field' observation photo from the Hubble Telescope.

Included are thousands of Galaxies and a few stars from our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

Scientists, using the most modern equipment, to our day and age, cannot number the stars nor even the number of galaxies. Only God, the author, and preserver, of the scriptures, could have revealed this scientific, and verifiable fact, concerning "the host of heaven."

Brethren,

As God revealed to Jeremiah, man is unable to count the stars in the heavens.

In fact, NASA understands (and verifies), this statement.

Therefore, knowing that it is impossible to count the stars, scientists (NASA foremost), has developed a process in order to estimate (or guess), the number of stars in our Galaxy; the Milky Way. Here is a NASA article on how to estimate the number of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

NASA Logo, National Aeronautics and Space Administration

How Many Stars in the Milky Way?

Recently I was asked to help someone answer the question of how many stars are in the Milky Way – that there were differing answers out there, and which was the right one?

This question turns out to have a really interesting (and possibly frustrating?) answer. And the answer is that we really don’t know. We can make estimates, but there isn’t a firm, solid, 100% answer.

Why is this? Well, first off, there isn’t a way to simply count the number of stars in the Milky Way individually – that’s where the estimates come in. To make an estimate, we have to calculate the mass of our galaxy, and then the percentage of that mass that is made up of stars.

Then we have to decide what the mass of an average star is so we can calculate the number of stars in the galaxy. This is not trivial either – you could say our Sun is an average sized star, which would give you one estimate for the number of stars in the galaxy. But our Sun may not really be typical – there are a lot of much lower-mass stars out there. Using a low-mass red dwarf as an average-mass star will give you a totally different answer for the total number of stars in our galaxy.

It’s kind of like if you had a 10 pound bag. You can see in the top of the bag and can tell that there are coins there, mixed in with candy, dried beans, screws, rice, and other things you can’t see, but that must be heavy enough to make the bag weigh 10 pounds. Now try to calculate how many coins are in that bag – it’s hard to do because you can only really count the coins you can see – so you have to figure out if the contents of the bag that you can see is representative of the whole of the bag. Are coins evenly distributed throughout? Let’s say you can say with relative confidence that coins make up 10% of mass of the bag, or one pound. How many coins are there total? Well, you can see pennies and quarters and nickels, and each type of coin has a different mass and size. If you picked the quarter as being the average mass of a single coin, you might get one answer for the total number of coins. But if you picked the penny, which is lighter, you’d have a higher total number of coins because there are more pennies to the pound than quarters.

There are different models for estimating the number of stars in the Milky Way and the answers they give differ depending on what is used as the average mass of a star. The most common answer seems to be that there are 100 billion stars in the Milky Way on the low-end and 400 billion on the high end. But I’ve seen even higher numbers thrown around.

Brethren,

The estimates of the number of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy is between 100 to 400 billion stars.

NASA, again verifies that the scriptures are scientifically accurate. “As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.” Jeremiah 33:22
