In all humility I ask this... Is it OK for one who is saved to use prescription anti-anxiety and/or anti-depressants, under the supervision of his/her physician? If long-term use is not OK, what about temporary use? I know Jesus is the great healer, but I'm curious for input on this issue as it sort of hits close to home. Thanks to all in advance.

Prayer is a very important matter. Consider that Jesus, the very Son of God, was constantly in prayer. Look upon the many passages on the importance of prayer. One of the greatest things we can do for another is to lift them up before our Heavenly Father in prayer. Why is it that our Prayer Request forum appears to be so little used? At quick look it would appear that very few people here take the time to pray for those who have posted requests. I was just looking over that forum and noticed, looking at the first two pages, that the number of responses to most prayer requests were fewer than 10; many were far fewer than 10. In the past some have said they pray bu…

thought I wouldn't be a hijacker :hijack: , so I started a spin off thread. some friends and I have had this discussion before and I was wondering what y'all's opinion would be. this may be nosey, please forgive me if I cross a line, but who does the finances in your house? Since Michael deploys ALL the time, we thought it would be better if I took them over completely. Not to mention, I am the "accountant" of the family. I have heard it argued that the husband should take care of them, even while deployed. Yeah...like that would happen!!

I need (actually, I don't need it, but it would help a lot) a recorder for my job at the newspaper. I was wondering how to buy one. I'll use it to take interviews with people since I'll be covering my old high school's sports. I might also use it in school since I'll have it. I don't know anything about them, so if you have any advice, help me out.

Barack Obama has changed his position on gun control, over the Iraq war, over campaign financing, and on energy production. Wesley Clark's criticism against John McCain's war record is an abomination in the sight of the Lord. General Wesley Clark continues to criticize John McCain for his service in the military for his country. General Clark and John Kerry need to put up or shut up if they can not come with anything better in their criticism of a great American patriot. Go McCain! Get out and vote in November!

Don't know if anyone has an interest in scientific videos on the properties of the elements and experiments with them. Buddy Smith sent me this email: A pastor friend, Tom Hill, sent me this link. It has lots of neat videos showing what the elements are like and what they do. If you have any junior chemists or boffins at your house it may be safer to let them watch grown up boffins mess with dangerous chemicals than to let them do it themselves. On the other hand, now that I have seen what some of them do I think I will go to the chemistry shop and see if I can get hold of a few chemicals and mix them together and see what happens. Bro. Buddy http://www.periodic…

I am so ashamed that I didn't listen to the advice given to me not only on here, but also from other people I know "in real life". I am going to have to sit down w/ my daughter and tell her that momma was wrong and that we will not allow any Hannah Montana to be in this house. She started out nice enough, but she isn't staying that way. Pics of her emerged in very immodest clothing, etc. While some may say these are only photoshopped, there are other pics of her at a recent awards show that are real and the dress was just awful. I am not concerned about the music, as is not an issue around here. I am however, drawing the line at the immodesty. I can feel better in the fac…

I have the 2/3 year olds on Wednesday nights. We are going through the 10 commandments this summer, then will start AWANAs up again this fall. Anyway, I am drawing a blank when it comes to a craft tomorrow. Does anyone have any idea for a craft for "thou shall not steal?"

If I had my way, I would declare a moratorium on public preaching of "the plan of salvation" in America for one to two years. Then I would call on everyone who has the use of the airwaves and the pulpits to preach the holiness of God, the righteousness of God and the law of God, until sinners would cry out, "What must we do to be saved?" Then I would take them off in a corner and whisper the Gospel to them. Such drastic action is needed because we have gospel-hardened a generation of sinners by telling them how to be saved before they have any understanding why they need to be saved. --Paris Reidhead, Finding the Reality of God, pg. 54.

Have you ever heard of the TV Guardian and if you have are you using it? The TV Guardian is a device that connects to your cable TV, VCR, DVD player, ect. It filters out foul language from live TV and pre-recorded movies. I believe a game console can also be hooked up as well. It does not work with TVs that have VCRs or DVD players built into them. They must be separate units. It uses the closed captioning feature of programs and movies to elimate the foul language. We purchased ours last year for about $100. It is well worth the investment.

Pitbull vs. Porcupine..... A Pit bull decided he would battle a Porcupine in the backyard of his house in Southern California. But being both brave and stupid, he ultimately learned the hard way that he can't always win. No matter how tough you are... A vet sedated the dog, and then removed a total of 1,347 quills. The dog survived, and hopefully learned a valuable lesson....... but I wonder what happened to the purcupine.... Don't mess with Porcupines !!! :amen:

I have noticed a 20% to 30% increase in the Oregon/Idaho area in food cost alone. Anything that was $10.00 is now $12.00 to $13.00. Of course the store says its fuel prices to get the food trucked there. I know our activity (travel) is cut in half. Whats it like for food cost where your at?

This is the most ridiculous, most blasphemous "preaching" I've ever heard in my life. If you can get passed the first couple minutes and really listen to what this guy is saying, you will hear him speak of what sounds like demon possession, astral projection or demon impersonation of himself.....all under the disguise of "Christianity". It is scary to think that anyone like this could have a "ministry" and that anyone would be blind enough to follow him.........apparently, though not surprising, he is friends with Todd Bentley. I'm afraid this kind of nonsense doesn't appear to be going away, and it even seems to be gaining momentum.............come quickly Lord Jesus…

Labor Day is coming shortly! Is anyone out there looking forward to the return of autumn with its mild days and cool nights? Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To every thing there is a season, and time to every purpose under the heaven:" My favorite season is autumn, a cross between spring and winter! Thank the Lord for autumn!

I am curious if anyone uses this filtering software. If you don't, then what kind of filtering do you use? Covenant Eyes is a subscription based online filter and accountability software. It is only about $10 a month and filters out porn sites (and anything that resembles a porn site). We have used it about a year and it works great.

Hello all. I was wondering. How far will you go to take a stand for what is right,or against, what is not right? Would you be willing to lose friends, defending the KJV? Would you be willing to be ridiculed by saved and lost people to take a stand against homosexuality? I was asked(on another forum) what version of the bible I use. I stated the KJV. That it was the "only" one I use. Well.....this just escalated into a fairly big discussion. From how the KJV has errors,to that King James was bi-sexual. It even went to where I was sinner for promoting the KJV because they said it has errors. One person said that I was mean hearted and not open minded for my stance a…

I was recently banned from another message board. It's a secular music message board. I was told by the admin (and I quote): "You talk about Jesus too much. It's up to you to decide whether or not you want to be a part of this community but if you do, then the religion talk stops right now!" I was accused of proselytize and constantly "pushing my religious beliefs on others". Now, here's the ironic thing: I never did that. I only ever made two comments about anything to do with Christianity. One, following the death of George Carlin, in which I just said that he was an atheist who spent his life cursing God and another in a thread where we were asked what people…

Pastors to Be Sued for Not 'Marrying' Sodomites? Editor's note: After refusing to publicly hold civil officials accountable for disobeying the commandments of God concerning the crimes of homosexuality, pastors and churches in California now may face lawsuits for refusing to "marry" filthy sodomites, lawyers say. "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." (Matthew 5:13) Churches seek legal protection from same-sex activists Allie Martin - OneNewsNow - 7/15/2008 9:30:00 AM Pastors in California are learning how to a…

I was listening to Greg Locke and he gave 7 reasons why people leave churches. This was according to "Christianity" Today. 7. Preacher is not friendly 6.Nothing for the kids 5. Facilities are filthy 4. All about money 3. Not exciting enough 2. I am not getting fed 1. Somebody offended me One thing I realized, and Bro. Locke pointed out, was there wasn't one about heresy, apostasy, linking up with heretics or apsotates. What do you guys think about this list?
