I stupidly rented it on Itunes. It was perverse and was not a clean movie. The preview looked good, but I regretted watching it.

I saw that sometime this summer and was so disappointed with it I don't even remember much of it. There were a few funny moments but the movie didn't flow well at all and I thought each time it could have went in a good direction they failed to do so.

To me, the previews to the movie gave a totally wrong impression as to what the movie actually was.

I have to agree with John and Jerry on this. Someone bought it for our kids and, after previewing it, I decided it was hardly an adult movie, let alone children. Oh sure, there is a little humour, but most of it is ill-natured and poorly written and acted with no flow. I lacks most of the key points to making a good movie. The number one thing missing: God and any respect for Him.

This movie touched my heart. I felt that I was there every step of the way with Marley, from his puppyhood to his time of death. It had it's funny parts, and definitely had it's sad parts at the end. This movie brought tears to my eyes, it's definitely a movie worth watching.

Actually, the book was better. If you can get hold of the edition that he put out that removes the bad language (he published that one at the request of a parent who didn't want her teen to read some of what he wrote), the story line is good. The book is much funnier and sadder than the movie. I literally laughed til I cried in places and then cried at the end. Marley was the same color as a dog we got our son, and then we had a black lab that behaved, in a lot of ways, like Marley. But the movie just didn't do justice to the dog. (and the actors left a lot to be desired!!)

I agree with LuAnne's recommendation of the book. I listened to the unabridged audiOBook version and listened to it while I was in the sewing room. Like LuAnne, I laughed in some places so hard I had to stop sewing, and at the end the tears really flowed. The audiOBook was narrated by the author, so the ending was particularly poignant because the author's emotions were quite evident in the inflection of his voice. Goodness, I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about that.

I watched the movie, but oddly enough I hardly remember the movie at all. I recall that my impression after seeing the movie that the book was much better, but the movie didn't really follow the book faithfully.

If you are looking for a nice way to enjoy the book with your family, perhaps you could get the audiOBook version and listen to it all together while putting together a puzzle.

I like movies, in large part because they take you away from reality for 2 hours. I found it really frustrating to see the first half because it looked like a mirror image of my life, at the moment, (the negative pool and good employment opportunities) children / dogs. In the second half of the movie truly put it into perspective, this movie is not just a dog, its trials and tribulations of life. A very profound and inspiring film, my sore throat hold back my tears. May 5 by me!
