How many congregational songs does your church sing on Sunday AM? (NOT including invitation)
We sing five and we sing every verse of every song. (Established long before I came here.) Unique?

We don't follow a menu (schedule, whatever you want to label it). I tell our song leader to follow the Lord's leading (be that 2 songs, 7 songs, 0 specials, 5 specials), we don't shorten or lengthen the message in accordance with the # of songs, we don't end "right at" a particular time.

We usually sing 2-3 congregationals, the choir usually does 2-3 songs, and then there will be anywhere from 1-3 specials. However, we don't have a specific plan which we adhere to. The pastor follows the Lord's leading in deciding how much we sing and who sings, etc... For instance this morning we sang 1 congregational and that was it.

We don't have a hard and fast rule regarding congregation singing, but we usually do two before Sunday School and two during the preaching service.

I said 4 because that's typically what we sing. However, there are times when we may sing only 2 or 3 if the sermon is longer that week or something else happens to be going on, but normally it's 4.

It varies, and I'm sooooo glad we don't sing the same 30 songs over and over. happynote.gif

:amen::thumb:I'm very glad our music selection is broad.

When I was first saved I attended an Assemblies of God church with my girlfriend who attended that church. EVERY service they sang the same song...and they repeated the chorus over and over again!

That girl and myself went our separate ways but several years later I went to church with her again (we were still friends) and to my surprise and shock, they STILL opened their services singing that same song and they still repeated that chorus over and over again.

I thank God for our church team using more than a handful of hymns from our hymnal and even printing out good songs that aren't in our hymnal for us to sing.

My church just got new hymnals so we'll be learning bunches of new ones.

I voted for three. The congregation sings the processional hymn, a hymn before the gospel is read and a recessional hymn. The Choir sings the offetory hymn (sung while the offering is being collected) and the communion hymn (sung while the congregation is taking communion). So I guess there are five songs in all, but only three are song by the choir and the congregation.

Edited to add: There are no "specials" allowed. However, it is not uncommon for a choir member to perform a solo during the offetory and commuion hymns.
