Me? Hate 'em, but couldn't survive without one.

I think we need to start teaching "Cell Phone Etiquette" in schools.

I'm 19, and my dependency on a cell phone is to the point of being nauseous.. I can't wait to find an excuse to go buy a farm and ditch all these high tech equipment

My dependency is so severe that I'm not even fully dressed if I do not have my cell phone on me.

I keep mine on "vibrate" whilst in a public place wherein I'm in close proximity to other people. AT church it stays in my truck.

I waited forever to get myself one. I was actually 39 before I got my 1st. I keep it with me all the time now. It is my phone that I use all the time. I rarely pick up the house phone. I use it to talk to my wife during the day. We both have phones and the minutes are free. I also us the phone as my alarm clock in the morning, my calendar for appointments and tasks, and I even use the calculater.

So I guess I have become very dependant.

Me too, Kendo.

I have a land-line for my wife with a plan that let's her call anywhere in our area code for free.

For my own cell-phone, I have a 10,000 minute per month plan. It's a grandfather plan, wherein we have several phones on it.

I don't have one but as of late I begin to wish I had one. I am going to end up with one before I get my liscence. If payphones were around I would forget cellphones existed.

i LOVE my cell phone. We actually do not have a home phone, we just use my cell phone as our home phone number. We have a family plan so both me and my husband have one.I know that just about everyone has one. I am a liitle concerned about kids having them though. I dont know about ya'll, but i was like 17 or 18 before i even had my own phone in my room and even then it was still my parents line....i guess were just old fashioned that way. :!:

I really like the convenience of having a cell phone. My so and I have a family plan with 850 minutes plus free minutes nights and weekends. I usually us 20 to 30 minute total a month. He uses around 400 to 500 minutes a month. One of the main advantages is I can get in contact with him anytime plus I don't have to worry about him getting stranded on the road. I don

I got one last year after my old car died and I didn't have a cell phone at the time to make the necessary calls to my husband and AAA. :D I got on a prepaid plan and I add about $50 every 3 months. I haven't even come close to using up all my minutes because I only use the phone either for emergencies or to let my husband know if I'm going to be late getting home from work.

I do wish people who drive while talking on their cell phones would get hands-free devices (like wireless headsets). The extra expense is more than worth the reduced risk of getting in an accident due to losing control of the car because one hand is holding the cell phone. :verymad:

We have a cell phone and it was a gift from our kids. They didn't want us to be stranded on the road somewhere without a phone. So needless to say it is used very little, as, Praise GOD we haven't been stranded yet... :D

It is a nice convenience to have, although I often forget to turn it on so if someone is trying to reach us they have a difficult time...
We have a plan where we add $10.00 a month just to keep it active and I must say the minutes are continuing to add up because it isn't used all that often.

One of the questions that insurance companies have started to ask is whether or not anyone involved in an accident was using a cell phone. Few people tell on themselves but more drivers are telling on the other person.

The only good thing about cell phones is having them there for an emergency.

I disagree they can be huge timesavers for anyone but especially in business. I can contact service reps for equipment I maintain anytime because they have cell phones. Many times I am able to avoid a costly service calls by getting solutions to problems over a cell phone. My phone has saved me extra trips to town (20 miles round trip) many times because my wife or son can call and ask me to pick something up before I head home. There are tons of good uses for cell phones but like anything there is always the chance for misuse and abuse.

My sister-in-law and her grandmother were killed in a head-on collision in GA back in '98. My niece was left with severe brain damage. The driver of the car that came into their lane and hit them was also killed. No one knows why she did that and there were no skid marks left by either car. One thing police did find in the other driver's car was a cell phone on her floor with half a number dialed into it.

During Sunday School this past Sunday the church phone rang and it was the son of our head deacon calling on his cell phone. He had just had a tire blow out in Montana and went over a 12' embankment. He was able to crawl up to the side of the road and call 911, then call his dad. Thankfully he was not severely injured, but does have some back pain and got the wind knocked out of him.

So cell phones can be a blessing and a curse.
