How do you refer to your pastor? Most everyone at our church refers to me as Brother Jerry.

Personally I like to be called Brother Jerry and I detest to be called Reverend.

Edited to add this.

Years ago thru this part of the country the pastor was referred to as Elder. I have asked around why they changed to calling them brother, but know one seems to know. I'm 60 and all I ever remember hearing is brother.

We call our current pastor Preacher, because several years ago his son came on the pastoral staff, so we would have had 2 "Pastor Voegtlin"s. We could have called him Dr. V, but as a whole we call him Preacher. Good thing, because now they are both Dr. V...

When our new pastor takes over in 3 years or so, we will probably continue to call him Pastor as we do now. Before he was on the pastoral staff, we called him Brother or just John. Now, though, out of respect for his position, we call him Pastor.

No, we do not.

The church of Christ always refer to theirs as preacher, or at least that is the way it is around here at the local churches of Christ I know of. But from what I understand, they do not believe the preacher is God called, only church called.

Suzy, not your not messing up when you use the term Brother.

I rightly don't believe using Brother, Pastor, Elder, and or preacher is wrong.

I was just wondering what terms others use in different parts of the country.

I figure Brother is my favorite because that is the term I have heard for my 60 years.

On our church sign in front of our church they have it listed,
"Pastor: Bro. Jerry Smith."

It depends on the occasion. I usually call him Preacher, but in a more "formal" setting will call him Pastor. Some of our folks call him "Reverend". On our church sign and bulletins, it has Rev. (which I frankly don't really like).

I call him pastor but probably 70% call him brother or both.
