Hi all - I've been a saved believer since I was 7, and a baptist for a long time. I only use the King James, and know who the great whore is from traditional baptist beliefs. I tend to really enjoy independent baptist articles, and have for a long time, and am considering becoming an independent baptist - currently I am in a southern baptist church.

Being doctrine sound is important to me, and in the sense that we use the bible alone and are led by the Holy Spirit. I am a puritain - I do not like man made words that aren't in the bible, or doctrines, or even the emphasis - if it isn't the way God explains it. I believe in the priesthood of believers, so I do not want to be in a babylonian type of bondage, but want to be able to minister the gifts that God has given me, and receive those that He has given others. Whever Jesus is, I want to follow, and its the written word he has given us, and the Holy Spirit to guide us to take from him and give to us.

Being doctrinal sound isn't enough. Its also doing what God as written in scripture, and the spirit is love, because love is the fulfilling of the law. Having all knowledge and all prophecy isn't much when you don't have charity. That is important.

I've run into all types of apostasy. Last year, I was a president of a local university chapter of a national inter-denominational bible fellowship. One of the officers was rooming with a witch, another officer thought they had the modern gift of tongues (same thing I think now), and another was given to horrible slander (political). Never again am I going to help a non-denominational fellowship.

I'm given to various faults, some of which are prOBably present in this message. I talk to much. Although I am discerning, I tend to love regardless, and tend to get it back at me - I haven't learned to overcome this yet, I'm not even sure how to reconcile verses yet (and since this affects who you fellowship with, it goes right back to this introduction). Also, I am still learning, but I tend to know things, and God is generous in giving wisdom and knowledge when I ask :)

Thanks - hoping to talk to some people.

Max

PS - I'm also interested in celebrating the 400th anniversary of the KJB.

Howdy and welcome, from NWGA!
Seems like I heard Pastor Mike Nixon, of Brookside Baptist Church of Bristol, TN, on one of their radio broadcasts from a few weeks back, saying something about one of their missionaries almost finishing up the translation of the King James Bible, into their language, in time for the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible! When it's complete, I think they're gonna do something special, but not sure just what! You can find their link in the Missionaries and Evangelist section of the links directory, as "Charity Baptist Mission!"
Once again, welcome!
