  1. Dude. You need to repent of your easy believism.

  2. ian paisley's site has a lot of information: http://www.ianpaisley.org/antichrist.asp
  3. by every wind of doctrine. Besides the thread itself, I wanted to say - how true it is that God's Holy Word sanctifies us and sets us apart. Amen. God bless you.
  4. I'm going to think about this a little over the weekend because I think its an important point. Many of us know that the merchants of earth are (or include if you think better) preachers and the like making money off God - ie and they.. sold the souls of men. The bible says what you freely were given, freely give. How can anyone claim to charge for it? And if God didn't give it to you, why are you charging for it - because its fraud. Freely you have received, freely give - Matthew 10. And this is how Jesus sent the apostles out. Where's the tithe collection there? Actually, the workman is worth his wages, and God will provide. That may be because someone cheerful provides for you as God directs them, or it may be something God provides more direct than that - or it may be nothing at all if you are a poor workman - but there is definately no tithing a priest here. Matthew 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. If you are charging for your gifts, this isn't how worship was conducted in the church of the New Testament. They all gave of their gifts and talents freely. Imagine if the prophets, for instance, said we want a collection. And the teachers said give me. And those with helps said only for some silver. And not one of those gifts God charged you for. Back in the old days, many people had churches on their farm, and during the week they farmed, and during the weekend they, freely, preached. I'm not saying churches should never give anything to anyone, but a lot of the problems with the lukewarm church is money, and man made things revolving around merchandising men. When I am in a church where the minister makes 70k, and is preaching a works based witnessing to his congregation instead of witnessing the Holy Bible, I tremble. And that, friend, is my current church. And least you say I should move, I don't find a lot of churches that innocent. It is the same all over, and I won't hop from one babylonian church to another, be it calling for tithes, making sacrements out of baptism or the Lord's supper, or any other of the usual man's authority over God's authority. I'm preparing to witness. I won't put my gifts where God doesn't want it.
  5. If you are reading Revelation as overcoming by doing right, you are reading it badly - God showed me this awhile ago, and has been reminding me of it recently because I am preparing myself to witness, and its great when you see it. Jesus says be careful how you hear. Revelation condemns again and again the works of man - or working your way to heaven. It is when you keep Jesus's works to the end that you are blessed - ie its by grace, not works, lest any man boast. Who overcomes the world? 1 Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? You overcome the world by being saved and washed in the blood of the Lamb - Jesus Christ saves us.
  6. God's harvest is a harvest of souls, not a harvest of money. The parable of the sower is about the kingdom of God and sowing the word of God. The bible also says you can not worship both God and mammon. I know that even from gospel songs. Our bible gives a lot of warning about messing with money as opposed to the gospel.
  7. FYI Don't you think Christ paid a great enough price when he died on the cross for you? Where are the works you are adding to this.
  8. My experience is God has not blessed my giving whenever I have put it under a law because the law is cursed. I also believe God has been showing me specifically not to be under any type of babylonian captivity. Some people already know and have taken God's word, and some people are scoffing, but the truth is just what it is. God loves a cheeful giver, and that is the gospel. Anyone that wants to put themselves or me under bondage of men for their own private gain, church made politics and witchcraft, I avoid. That particular verse along with some others was given to me by brothers who loved me many years ago, and its from the Lord who loved us completely: 2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
  9. God sometimes leds me to give less - as in the church is being mislead, don't give. I think God also doesn't direct me to make an offering to a particular place as He hasn't been directing me to give exactly 10% - which are both types of laws, and the "tithers" have been making a law about how much and where both from OT law.
  10. I'm going to emphasize the KJB in my booklet in a section on it. The other bible versions on a direct attack on faith. The perserved Word of God is as much part of the gospel story as the garden of eden - and quite rightfully part of prophecy too. If we were just teaching words of men, maybe it wouldn't matter - but that is the attack. Even the unsaved know that the wicked mess around with the words of the constitution. We are bad witnesses to the truth if we don't witness God's word, and not as our own and changeable.
  11. Bible reading time :)

  12. Uhm, ok lol. However, they were rich in heavenly treasure because they gave 100% of what they had. So Katagrl, since giving more then 10% is important, how about 100%? I've got a verse for you that could be applied here: Matthew 17:24-27 24And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 25He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 26Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
  13. I did somewhere on the thread. That is why I posted that those who teach the harvest is money, instead of God's harvest is a harvest of souls, are robbing God, from the exact same verses.
  14. I don't think they are talking about missionaries here. It says for the saints not missionaries. Other verses appear to show that the church took care of its own back then. FYI when you give your decision power over money to another church, you aren't acting like a local community of believers only. In any case, the missionaries weren't from that church or being used through that church. They were giving it whole heartedly to Jerusalem to be used however.
  15. I'm pointing out that here they were not collecting it to be used through that local church, but they sent it to Jerusalem. This is an example of the local church doctrine not being what was going on. This was at the time of the apostles, and the churches weren't divided. Even so, its percular for a local church to be collecting for the saints at another - unless it was a fund for all the saints being re-distributed through Jerusalem. Its a verse that bears studying more. I know I will later.
  16. See, this doesn't match that: 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 1Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. 3And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.
  17. Not quite, they also collected money and sent it to Jerusalem. You will also see they held everything in common. Baptist forms of governance may not be exactly the same as in the New Testament, but God doesn't care how we organize as men - I can't find how to set up the YMCA in the bible either. However, when we don't recognize what the body is or who is the head, we put ourselves into bondage to men, many of whom may not be saved and are Christians in name only. In Revelation, you will find men who followed Jesus wherever he went and were virgins. That is the way to be, and not be beholden to man made churches and man made doctrines.
  18. Actually, a tithe isn't that much money. But we are under grace, not law. "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Putting people under a law is taking away the love and cheerfulness and is not God. As pointed out earlier, God looks at the heart - the widows mite in example. I remember when I was around twelve, someone tried the tithe of mint and rue and every kind of garden herb on me. I looked at the verse, and said there was one problem with it. "What?" They said. "I'm not a pharesee" I said. I got a good laugh at that from the crowd - and its a reminder. I've been getting this type of grief in churches for a long time - and so has every other blood bought believer in Christ, because they did the same thing to him. The full verse: But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. The real problem with verses isn't just the legalistic amount from the old law, its who we're suppose to pay it to. There are no more priests. We are all the priesthood of believers, and in Acts the church held everything in common. The intent is not to just "tithe" an amount to God, but for the individual believer in Christ to give up his right to be a priest and use it under the direction God gives him. If God gives you direction to give to a local ministry, then do so. But if He gives you direction to give otherwise, follow God. Thats the intent of the tithing ideas - to set up a priesthood other than the priesthood of believers. The other problem with tithing doctrines is the prosperity ministers. They are robbing God. You can't worship both God and money. While they intently claim that the tithe is from a harvest of money, my bible says God's harvest is a harvest of souls. They have robbed God, teaching money and not soul winning.
