Hi there. I still lurk on this forum and read what gets posted, though I seldom post myself these days.

Those who know me on here will also know that I am not saved. If any feel like keeping me in their prayers and praying for my salvation, I'd be so grateful.

With best wishes

Carl

Hello Carl. We met on Baptist.org. If you look under the "prayer for lost family members" in post #6 you will see your name listed on 5/22/06. We have been praying for you for several years now. It is my prayer that you will come to the saving Grace of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ very soon. Amen.

I prayed.

Granted there are plenty of man made OBjections to the truth of God's word and they seem to be pressed harder and harder here of late. You could dwell on what's hindering you from accepting God's free gift for a long time. Doesn't that seem a reasonable ploy, to distract you from the truth?

That truth is...
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to OBtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

I'll add you to my daily prayer list, is Carl the correct name?

Ouch! What made you say that? That is just what I wonder if I'm doing.

Yes, Carl is the right name.

Thanks so much for everyone's comments and prayers. U4tarheel, bless you for remembering me all this time!

I am not sure what your reasons are for not accepting Jesus Christ, but I need to ask why would you not? Jesus Christ became your substitute. He laid down His life so that you could have the opportunity to have a life changing relationship with God. He did make some stipulations for this to happen. God asked us to recognize that we are born with a place in our heart's designed on for the God. When Adam sinned, from then on man was born with a sinful nature. God desires to know us intimately but because of this nature it is not possible.
In the Old Testament as you may know the law of God demanded a sacrifice for sin,a perfect spotless lamb.We know that these sacrifices didn't take away sin. God Word, His love story to us, tells us that Jesus laid down His life in our place that we could once again have a relationship with Him. Jesus became our perfect spotless sacrifice, once and for all.
All God asks of us is that we recognize that we are sinners in need of a Substitute, Jesus Christ, and believe that He died, was buried and rose again to conquer sin and death.
God offers us this free gift and all we have to do is reach out and accept it. Won't you accept it today?

Carl,

I will pray for you. I must ask this though: You believe in God? You believe He has a salvation for you? You believe in His son Jesus Christ as the Messiah sent to pay the price for your sins and the whole world's sins? What is stopping you from proclaiming His truth and accepting His salvation that you already believe is there for you? Do you not know that even today you could breath your last breath? This is the day that God has given for salvation, don't wait any longer. If He has called you - and He has - don't put him off any further. Please accept His free gift before it's too late for you.

God Bless,

Futurehope

Thanks, Futurehope. I don't know whether your questions are just rhetoric, but I'll try to answer them. I understand that part of the Biblical story of God, Jesus and man that I am told I must understand in order to be able to accept Jesus as my saviour. But I don't know whether I really believe in God and therefore His saving Grace through Jesus. I don't know if I really recognise my sins as sins--things that I have done against God. I can't say whether I'm truly repentant, in that I have a broken and contrite heart before God.

So the things that you pass off as very easy, I struggle even to comprehend. Even concepts such as 'faith' and 'belief'--I'm not sure if I really know what they are, before we even begin to talk about applying them to God.

Lastly, do I know that I don't necessarily have long left? Yes, I do understand this--my not accepting Christ isn't because I believe I have lots of time to do it later. That is one thing I am sure about. I've never seen anything in the Bible that contradicts what Jonathan Edwards said:

"...whatever some have imagined and pretended about promises made to natural men's earnest seeking and knocking, it is plain and manifest, that whatever pains a natural man takes in religion, whatever prayers he makes, till he believes in Christ, God is under no manner of OBligation to keep him a moment from eternal destruction."

Thanks so much for your prayers.

Sincerely praying for the Lord to stay his hand and give you time. This is not a light decision but it is by faith.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
