Or do the many typos in the Fox News articles bother you as much as they do me? They drive me crazy. :bonK: Take this article, for example. There are several errors at the beginning of the article. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,468268,00.html

I just wanted to share some thoughts about this book....I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but after the raid on the Mormon compound out west I was feeling so sorry for the women and children and was just really wanting to understand how these people can live this way. So I tried to find a Mormon book that didn't seem to sexually graphic (read reviews on Amazon). I found the above title. Its written by a girl who was married to a Morman fundamentalist leader when she was 15. But then, throughout her marriage, she realized polygamy was not of God (she actually sat down at her kitchen table one day and compared the Mormon books with the Bible and found out that Go…

I was listening to a christian radio program recently about teens and the problems they face with sex, drugs, fitting in, etc. Results of studies showed that over 90% of children today are exposed to sex and drugs at or before the time they become teenagers. This is of course very disturbing, but the statement that was made by one of the speakers shortly after that disturbed me even more in a way. He simply stated: "Our kids are just growing up too fast." At first I thought nothing of it. But, as I pondered on that statement, I was very bothered. This man is a known christian teacher and speacker and he referred to sex and drugs as part of growing up. What bothe…

To All My Democrat Friends: Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009…

Is anyone here able to translate this? I have a request from someone who would like it in Spanish. I would also like to start a foreign language section at the www.afterdeathwhat.com site so I am looking for those who might be able to help. God bless. In 100 years.... Where will you be? Heaven or Hell. The Bible says "... it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Hebrews 9:27) Are you ready for that day? Would you consider yourself a good person? Good enough for heaven? Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God's name in vain? Even once? If so, you are a liar, a thief, and a blasphemer, and you have to face God on judgment day. Will you be in…

Back in 2006 I posted about 2 elderly neighbors who were murdered, Ben and Mary Odell. They were preparing for the trial and met with Ben & Mary's family members, they agreed to take a guilty plea from him and not seek the death penalty. The prosecuting attorney actually left it up to the family, if they had chosen to seek the death penalty he would have gone for it, the charge, 2 counts of 1st degree murder. Yesterday Calvin Bennett pleaded guilty of murdering both of them. That afternoon he was transferred to the state pen, but his sentence is 2 life sentences without parole, and he cannot file no appeals, not one single appeal. Perhaps this is better than …

So we have been doing Netflix, which is actually a really cool way to watch some really great stuff, without going to Blockbuster or theaters or anything else like that that some of us prefer to avoid. Plus, its so easy just to exchange them at the mailbox! Anyway so tonight watched "Something the Lord Made". It was SUCH a great movie! Its based on a true story. It did have a little cussing in it (dr gets mad, says a couple words....its not constant though). Its the story of the dr who pioneered heart surgery, with his genius black assistant, although during segregation. Amazing documentary made into a movie (HBO movie). Other than the few curse words, very …

What was your worst or unthoughtful gift? (btw, you might want to be careful if someone you know read this site) I had good gifts, but my son got a toy meant for a girl that a family member brought on sale. It was no mix up either. Just wanted to give it to someone to get rid of it.

I just love countdown calendars and alluded to them in my Christmas Fluff thread. What are some clever ideas you have done or seen done? (An Advent Calendar is anything you can use to count down the days 'til Christmas. The gifts for these are very small in size and/or cost. Stickers, candy, activity ideas are the kinds of things that go with these calendars.) A really neat idea that I came across recently is to have 24 boxes each a little larger than the one before. You put a tiny gift inside the smallest box and wrap it. Then put that box inside a larger box along with a gift that fits. You do that for 24 boxes. Granted, it is time consuming to wrap all …

Hi everybody. Just thought I throw out some fun, Christmas fluff questions. 1. White lights, solid color lights or multi-colored lights on your tree? 2. Presents under the tree for the whole season or bring them out on Christmas Eve after the kiddos are in bed? 3. Ever gone Caroling or received Carolers? 4. Favorite well-known Chrismas hymn/song? 5. Favorite little-known Christmas hymn/song? 6. Favorite secular Christmas song? 7. Do you drive around looking at Christmas lights? 8. Is there a particularly spectacular scene/sight in your area? 9. Most of your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving? 10. What holida…

I'm starting to like Mr David Cloud more and more. I find his information abundant and most helpful. I think that in todays world most of the theology that is out there is wrong . As a kid going to an IBF school the one thing that stayed in my head was "See for yourself what the Word of God has to say. Don't just hear it from me read it for yourself." I am finding that alot of stuff I heard, learned, or was taught was wrong. I don't like some of the things that I am finding out, but it is what it is, and has been what it has been. Some of it is even jaw dropping. The bible says " Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.…

I don't have the time or the energy to do a full-blown contest this month; however, I love Christmas and games. I am going to revive a contest game we did a few years ago (did I really say years?!?!? :-S ). I hope you have fun with it. If you know the answer, please try to hold off answering a little so those who haven't seen it before can have some fun with it. Since this is a game, I'll post each game entry in the Fun and Games section. Some of us who rarely visit that forum can go bump elbows with the regulars for a few days. :Bleh I'll post each entry as Christmas Song #1,2" etc. The object of the game is to guess the name of the Christmas song that i…
