1. White lights, solid color lights or multi-colored lights on your tree? My mom usually likes solid white lights but I have blinky colored lights on my little fake tree this year.

2. Presents under the tree for the whole season or bring them out on Christmas Eve after the kiddos are in bed? My parents always put them out the night before and I would bring mine down in the morning. This year, I put the Christmas presents that my family sent me under the tree as soon as I got them. Not really anywhere else to put them anyway. lol

3. Ever gone Caroling or received Carolers? Unfortunately, no. If my church goes on Christmas Eve this year, I'll go with them. :smile

4. Favorite well-known Chrismas hymn/song? Joy to the World.

5. Favorite little-known Christmas hymn/song? I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.

6. Favorite secular Christmas song? Maybe...White Christmas.

7. Do you drive around looking at Christmas lights? Sometimes we would with my grandmother, otherwise we would just see them as we drove along. hehe In Korea, no one puts up Christmas lights at their...apartment. lol

8. Is there a particularly spectacular scene/sight in your area? There are some trees with lights and lights are strung up over a popular lane for nightlife but not much else. I hope to go to Seoul or Suwon to see some nice displays.

9. Most of your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving? After Thanksgiving.

10. What holiday traditions does your family have? We open our stockings before breakfast and we usually have a big breakfast, like homemade orange juice, muffins, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc. Then my dad will read Luke 2 in the living room before we open presents. Then he hands one of us a present and we all take turns opening them. For lunch, we would go to my grandparents and open presents after lunch there. We would spend the evening at my other grandparents and open more presents. This year, I'm not sure what I'll do....might spend most of the day at church.

11. Open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? All on Christmas.

1. White lights, solid color lights or multi-colored lights on your tree? Multi-colored...I have five kids!!!! Maybe white someday.

2. Presents under the tree for the whole season or bring them out on Christmas Eve after the kiddos are in bed? Whole season. We're never in our own home for Christmas.

3. Ever gone Caroling or received Carolers? Yes to both...Fun and blessings all around!

4. Favorite well-known Chrismas hymn/song? Hmmm...."The Infant King" and "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming"

5. Favorite little-known Christmas hymn/song? This isn't "little-known," I suppose (and it's really NOT LIKE ME AT ALL to enjoy something Mark Lowry has made popular, but) "Mary, Did You Know?" I love the thoughtful, poignant lyrics as well as the simple way Lowry presents the song. It brings tears every time I hear it.

6. Favorite secular Christmas song? NONE. I get soooooo tired of "department store" renditions of even the classics. Seems like they start in earlier every year. If I hear "Meli-Kaliki-Maka" or "Feliz Navidad" one more time, I'm going to go insane. Just call me Ebenezer Scrooge on this one!

7. Do you drive around looking at Christmas lights? Not really. We spend so much time in the car, though, and cover so much ground that we do see quite a few nice displays.

8. Is there a particularly spectacular scene/sight in your area? Had to laugh at this one. There is a house on the way to our church with a tiny yard that is literally CRAMMED full of all the inflatable, movable, lightable items that can be had...Last time we went by, I know we saw at least two ferris wheels, a Santa, a giant snow globe, numerous tall candy canes, stars, and (I kid you not) MUCH, MUCH MORE, with lights strung everywhere. It doesn't matter what season it is (Easter, Halloween, etc.)...This house's yard is loaded. Very amusing.

9. Most of your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving? After

10. What holiday traditions does your family have? We're trying to establish some, but haven't really been successful...The kids always sleep over at Papa and Nana's house in their new Christmas jammies the night before Christmas Eve. Then we spend C.E. with Papa and Nana. Christmas Eve night, the kids sleep over at Grammy and Poppy's, and then we spend Christmas (brunch, supper) at their house. We do not give our kids any gifts. We tell them that our gift to them is taking them to see the grandparents 14 hours away.

11. Open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Both (see above)

3. Ever gone Caroling or received Carolers? Yes! Many times growing up. Also, as a church. And, in the nursing homes.

4. Favorite well-known Chrismas hymn/song? I have two favorites: "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem"

7. Do you drive around looking at Christmas lights? Yes! We go every year around town. Also, we go to the parks, too.

9. Most of your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving? After Thanksgiving.

10. What holiday traditions does your family have? Baking Christmas cookies. Christmas Eve get together. Christmas Day dinner. "kids Christmas" and for the adults?--- A "White Elephant" exchange. 11. Open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
One gift on Christmas Eve. The rest on Christmas Day.

1. White lights, solid color lights or multi-colored lights on your tree? Multi-colored...

2. Presents under the tree for the whole season or bring them out on Christmas Eve after the kiddos are in bed? Whole season although we do keep some back until the last day...

3. Ever gone Caroling or received Carolers? Yes! Great fun...

4. Favorite well-known Chrismas hymn/song? Hmm; it is difficult to pick one. Ring The Bells, O Holy Night, Angels We Have Heard On High, The Messiah

5. Favorite little-known Christmas hymn/song? Again, hmm. :frog How Should A King Come? Behold The Babe, Sleep O Holy Child...

6. Favorite secular Christmas song? Silver Bells and a few others although I get very tired of the hack jobs I hear over and over again in the stores. They play the same 5 songs over and over again... :roll

7. Do you drive around looking at Christmas lights? Yes

8. Is there a particularly spectacular scene/sight in your area? Yes; there is a park that has a 2-mile long light display.

9. Most of your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving? Before, if I can help it. I don't like the crowds. Actually, I like to bargain shop throughout the year and also shopping online helps avoid the crowds as well.

10. What holiday traditions does your family have? Fire in the fireplace, jigsaw puzzles, Christmas movies, decorating cookies, watching a performance of Handel's The Messiah, watching a DVD of the Three Tenors sing Christmas songs, I tell the kids the stories behind some of our tree ornaments (some I've had since I was a kid), making new ornaments, an advent "calendar"*, speaking often of our King's birth (every other Monarch gets a huge celebration for their b/d---why not Jesus?) Also, this year the kids got to be in a play at church and had a great time being a shepherd and 3 sheep.

11. Open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Christmas Eve...

*I just want to say more about this advent calendar... I love them; I think they are fun. There are a zillion ways to do one - anything you can use to count down the days to Christmas works. This year I have a greenery wreath and every night I put something small on it for each of the kids. In the morning when they wake up, they run to the wreath and there might be a piece of candy or a Christmas pencil or a toothbrush, stickers and sometimes just a piece of decorated paper stating a fun activity we will do that day. Last Saturday, I hung Christmas cookie cutters on it indicating that we would be making decorated cookies that day. The kids just love it! So do I. :Green
