Hello, I am looking for a graduate school offering Greek and Hebrew courses through distance learning. Does anyone know of such a place? It seems that all the colleges I can find have either distance learning or Greek/Hebrew, not both. I'd like to find a place that would let me finish the course remotely, e.g., not like PCC which only allows one year of courses off-campus. Thanks! -Steve

ARE CHRISTIANS DRIVING CHURCH NUMBERS DOWN? By Paul Proctor April 4, 2009 NewsWithViews.com The reports are everywhere now about the declining numbers of church members and baptisms ? especially among Southern Baptists; so much so that church leaders address it at almost every opportunity as if attempting to somehow spark a zeal in remaining members like a coach might do in the locker room of a losing team at halftime. Everyone is trying to figure out what?s wrong. This might come as a shock to many, but I would suggest that the answer here might just be nothing is wrong ? that those declining numbers that are troubling the pulpits of American churches right now…

http://www.varmintal.com/trillion-dollars.htm Just something to think about. And a little simple math: 1,000,000,000,000.00(1 trillion Dollars) divided by 300,000,000(300 Million people in the u.S.A.) is $3,333.33 for everybody. C

Does anyone here have a green thumb? We are putting in a major garden this year, actually two or three of them, and I was wondering if any of you plant a veggie garden. Also, what do you know about planting strawberries, blueberry bushes, and grape vines? We also are going to put in a Spring garden with the different greens, ie, lettuce, cabbage, brussel sprouts, celery, etc. I would appreciate some tips on that as well. We turned earth on Saturday and are going to do the final tilling in the next week or so. The frost-safe date in Middle Tennessee is April 15. However, the greens will go in immediately (so I'm told that is safe.) Where's the farmers! Bro. B…

Let's All Surrender Our Weapons -- You First! by Ann Coulter 04/08/2009 The rash of recent shooting incidents has led people who wouldn't know an AK-47 from a paintball gun to issue demands for more restrictions on guns. To be sure, it's hard to find any factor in these shootings that could be responsible -- other than the gun. So far, this year's public multiple shootings were committed by: -- Richard Poplawski, 23, product of a broken family, expelled from high school and dishonorably discharged from the Marines, who killed three policemen in Pittsburgh. -- Former crack addict Jiverly Wong, 41, who told co-workers "America sucks" yet somehow was not o…

My mother's birthday was yesterday. We'll all gather at her house today and celebrate with her. She is now the matriarch of our family. She is a blessing to me. She has honored her father and mother all her life. There will be many unsaved at this gathering. I?m praying for the opportunity and the spirit to say something that will be used of God to turn some to Christ. I have a thought in mind for a birthday prayer this year.

Is Obama Afraid of the J-Word? by Chuck Norris 04/07/2009 According to a new national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, 11 percent of Americans still believe President Barack Obama is a Muslim. Seven percent of Democrats believe it. And nearly 20 percent of evangelicals do. What I find fascinating is that the same study shows only 55 percent of Democrats know or believe Obama is a Christian, even after Obama spent nearly two years on the presidential campaign trail spouting his views and beliefs on everything under the sun. Moreover, about 1 in 3 people don't have any idea what his religious convictions are. Should the percent…

Does Sarah Palin Still Matter? By David Bozeman As published by the Liberty Features Syndicate. One could well make the case that Sarah Palin's moment has passed. Whether it is fair or not, she has become a national punch line. And maybe her critics were right -- maybe she doesn't possess the gravitas to be president. Were conservatives so hungry for a national voice that they would have anointed anyone to John McCain's right 'the future of the Republican Party?' Certainly it takes more than charm, radiance, a thin resume and a propensity for enraging the left to continue Ronald Reagan's legacy. She finished fourth at CPAC in a presidential straw poll behind Mitt R…

H.R. 1444: Congressional Commission on Involuntary Servitude Posted by Sean Ryan on 04/08/09 12:26 PM Last updated 04/08/09 11:11 AM A bill was introduced last month that would create an 8-member commission to study, among other things, "The effect on the Nation, on those who serve, and on the families of those who serve, if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service." "Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would streng…

CLIMATE DENIAL IS NOW MENTAL ILLNESS Climate 'denial' is now a mental disorder [Excerpts] How odd that, [March 2], none of our media global warming groupies should have bothered to report what was billed to be "the largest ever demonstration for civil disobedience over climate change". There was talk of hundreds of thousands of protestors converging on Washington to hear Jim Hansen, the scientist who talks of coal-fired power stations as "factories of death", call yet again for all coal plants to be closed. Perhaps the lack of coverage was due to the fact that, before Hansen arrived to address a forlorn group of several hundred hippies, Washington was blanketed in nea…

March 26, 2009 Can Uncle Sam Ever Let Go? By Patrick J. Buchanan ?In 1877, Lord Salisbury, commenting on Great Britain?s policy on the Eastern Question, noted that ?the commonest error in politics is sticking to the carcass of dead policies.? ?Salisbury was bemoaning the fact that many influential members of the British ruling class could not recognize that history had moved on; they continued to cling to policies and institutions that were relics of another era.? ?Relics of another era? ? thus did Stephen Meyer, in Parameters in 2003, begin his essay ?Carcass of Dead Policies: The Irrelevance of NATO.? NATO has been irrelevant for two decades, since its raison …

The End of Christian America The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. How that statistic explains who we are now?and what, as a nation, we are about to become. By Jon Meacham | NEWSWEEK Published Apr 4, 2009 From the magazine issue dated Apr 13, 2009 It was a small detail, a point of comparison buried in the fifth paragraph on the 17th page of a 24-page summary of the 2009 American Religious Identification Survey. But as R. Albert Mohler Jr.?president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, one of the largest on earth?read over the document after its release in March, he was struck by a single sentence. For …

March 27, 2009 "Then they came for the dishwashing detergent..." Posted by David Kramer at March 27, 2009 11:08 PM Well, that didn't take long. After my previous blog about the "progressive" Left Coast state of Washington banning certain environmentally-"unfriendly" brands of dishwashing detergent, now comes word that it's the color of your car that is environmentally "unfriendly." From the Left Coast's "most progressive" state (Do I really need to tell you that I'm referring to the People's Republic of California?) comes the possibility that black-painted cars will be prohibited: "If California regulators get their way, auto makers may soon be forced to rewrite a …

Does anyone know anything about a preacher named Steve Gregg? The office where I now work is owned by two evangelical Christians who follow Joyce Meyers and Joel Osteen and their ilk - and now they have started a morning bible study program with this Steve Gregg guy on his website called "the narrow path." One of them sent me a link to one of his sermons that sounded pretty good but I could tell he was not using the KJV Bible and he was quite critical about the way the verses were divided up ... http://thenarrowpath.com/ 1 John11. Chapter 2:28-3:3 By not participating in this Bible study I am treated as if I am a heathen or something, but since this dude does not us…

You can read this thread to refresh your memory if necessary... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24485 Stacey died back in October and her husband and parents have been waiting on the autopsy report ever since. Anyway, they finally received word that yesterday that Stacey had a brain tumor that had been growing a long time and even if she had lived, it would have been completely inoperable. She had been having bad headaches for quite some time.

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dumb they require a Bill of NON-Rights.' ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or a…

Was just wondering, I have heard about Hudson Taylor and Saint Augustine a few times recently, but really don't know much about either and was wondering if their books/biographies were good reading. Any comments would be welcomed. Thank You.

I know we've talked about books for kids before, but I'm on a mission. I am very familiar with a great number of good books. But a young lady I know, who is a voracious reader, wants good, clean books to read. I am compiling a list. Any recommendations? She doesn't want anything that is like Harry Potter, no demonism, no sex, etc. She likes historical fiction. Help, anyone?

I will be ending my study of salvation this coming Friday, April 3, 2009. We'll end with the section on Sanctification. I have some personal things to take care of including reading some books, stirring up a door-to-door program, among others. I may host one of the other doctrines using Evan's book in the future or, maybe someone else could host one for maybe "THE DOCTRINE OF GOD." I enjoyed the times others here joined me in discussing the several aspects of salvation: A. REPENTANCE. B. FAITH. C. REGENERATION. D. JUSTIFICATION. E. ADOPTION. F. SANCTIFICATION. I will not be posting anything for the following section. That's for everyone on their own. G. …

Friday, March 27 2009 Churchill, Hitler & Obama and the Centralized State Bret McAtee @ 6:02 am ?Military duty was an essential civic duty, and it was the responsibility of the Army to unify, once and for all, the population of the Reich?. Here, indeed, was the formal and legal embodiment of Hitler?s words in Mein Kampf: The coming National Socialist State should not fall into the error of the past and assign the Army the task which it does not and should not have. The German Army is not to be a school for the maintenance of tribal peculiarities, but rather a school for the mutual understanding and adjustment of all Germans. Whatever may have a disruptive ef…

TWIN CRISES: IMMIGRATION AND EDUCATION IN AMERICA By Frosty Wooldridge March 26, 2009 NewsWithViews.com Since I started teaching school in 1973, educational excellence and academic standards dropped like a brick falling from an airplane! I taught two years in the inner city where I discovered that children learn self-loathing, violence, drug use, tattoos and incest as well as verbal and emotional abuse beyond most Middle-Americans? comprehension. Within two years, my idealism turned to acid. In order to save myself from a form of emotional insanity, I fled the inner city. I taught at a reasonable, middle class school with great success. However, the principal ur…

I received a magazine from my state's homeschooling association yesterday and in it was listed 25 things about homeschooling. One of the statements puzzled me - Homeschooling is a Kingdom building effort. :puzzled: What does that mean exactly? That in the course of homeschooling children will be witnessed to and some will be saved? Or, that homeschooling brings in the Kingdom? I'm not sure what they mean because children are witnessed to in many scenarios, (not just homeschooling) and are saved. So that is my question. Below is the list of 25 things and my thoughts on them - an attempt at humor, folks. Homeschooling... 1. Will make you feel fright…
