"I would have lost my soul if I had not stood up for Barrac Obama...I know that." -Oprah

Should this be an eye-opener for America - as if there hasn't been enough of them already? Is BO her savior? How much more foolish does she have to become for America to see who she is and what is happening?

Unfortunately Oprah has become so popular that here legions of fans often consider her to be virtually all-wise. Notice how even the mighty left wing feminist movement couldn't put a dent in her when she refused to back a woman (Hillary) running for president.

What's amazing is how obviously people such as Oprah and Colin Powell backed Obama based upon his race above all else yet these people are viewed as the tolerant, open-minded and wonderful ones. :puzzled:

Oprah has gone way off in her religious/spiritual beliefs and promotions but likely that's not what she was even referring to in the above quote. Many blacks do believe they are "soul brothers", and while such statements are not so much outwardly spoken anymore, they still drive their thinking and actions. It very well could be she believes she would have lost her "black soul" had she not supported Obama.

While liberals and media would have us believe only whites are racist, the fact is that American blacks are among the most race conscious people in America and they don't really even hide it.

Over 90% of blacks voted for Obama, many openly proclaiming they were voting for a "black man" as opposed to voting for who they thought was best for America or who had a platform most agreeable to them. Such was hailed as wonderful, an example of progress and pride.

Meanwhile, in areas where Hillary (during the primaries) or McCain (during the general election) received even a little over half the white vote there were accusations that racism was at play.

Unfortunately they failed to realize that his dark skin color doesn't make him all that "black". In reality, he has very little black and much more Arab. Alan Keyes and Cinthia McKiney have plenty more black, they should have voted for one of them if they wanted a truly black president.

Revelation 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
I know I am taking this verse out of context but it was the first verse that popped in my head when I hear Oprah's name.

I think we all lose a portion of our soul every time we violate our conscience. If she did not support the candidate she felt is best for the country, then she would have violated her conscience.

She was not talking about salvation, she was talking about doing what is right.

I know that if I feel strongly about something and do not do it, I feel as though I have lost a bit of my soul.

Only God is able to kill the soul.

Biblically speaking, my soul is secure even when I violate my conscience. I can't think of any verse that tells me that I lose bits and pieces of my soul here and there. I can, however, grieve the Holy Spirit.

You refer to your spirit....the essence of your being. I'm talking about your soul...your conscience....that part of you in which you intuitively know right from wrong. Each time we violate it, we lose a part of it...it becomes hardened, or whatever you want to call it. If I know it is wrong to steal, and I do it anyway, my conscience or soul is damaged, and it becomes easier to do again and again.

Can it be healed? Yes it can be, but it is much easier to destroy than to heal.

Courtesy of my computer's dictionary. Guess we should not make a judgement what Oprah meant unless we either hear the statement in a broader context, or her explanation of such. You cannot tell much by her one sentence.

soul [s?l]
(plural souls)
noun
1. nonphysical aspect of person: the complex of human attributes that manifests as consciousness, thought, feeling, and will, regarded as distinct from the physical body
2. feelings: a person's emotional and moral nature, where the most private thoughts and feelings are hidden
Her soul was in turmoil.

3. spirit surviving death: in some systems of religious belief, the spiritual part of a human being that is believed to continue to exist after the body dies.
The soul is sometimes regarded as subject to future reward and punishment, and sometimes as able to take a form that allows it to remain on or return to earth.
4. spiritual depth: evidence of spiritual or emotional depth and sensitivity, either in a person or in something created by a person
Though technically perfect, the drawing lacked soul.

5. essence: the deepest and truest nature of people or a nation, or what gives somebody or something a distinctive character
In my travels I hoped to discover the soul of the Russian people.

6. type of person: somebody of a particular type, especially one regarded sympathetically or with familiarity
Poor soul! What will he do now?

7. anyone: anyone at all (used in negative statements)
You have to promise not to tell a soul.

8. individual person: an individual person, especially when thought of as making up the number of a group (usually used in the plural)
a country of some 10 million souls

9. perfect example: a good example, or personification, of a positive quality
The hotel manager was the soul of discretion.

10. somebody essential to something: the leader of or the most influential person in a group or movement
11. African American spirit: a quality regarded as characterizing African American culture, especially as manifested in understanding and in social customs, speech, and music
12. music Same as soul music

The news media has done their best to promote BO as some kind of messianic person. And he has bought into that, with his slogans of hope and change. I do believe that a number of people voted for him because they are hoping that he will do something great. Maybe he will. I have my doubts, but we will see. [offtopic]It's interesting to note that he dwelt on the economy during the latter part of the campaign, promising help, when he was one of the ones who helped damage the economy. And now, let's look at his inaugeration. a record $150 million being spent. At the same time he's pushing for more money from congress (aka the American people's pocket books). To me, one would tighten the belt, not look for more loops. Why not have a scaled back inaugeration, in the name of fiscal economy and responsibility? That would inspire more hope for the right kind of change in me!![/offtopic] Oprah is thrilled that BO got elected, since he has black blood (his father is Kenyan...a black man). If he weren't so socialistic in his leanings, I could be happy about this historic event. But...I don't want to lose a part of my soul... :Green
