My children go to a public school not because I want them to, but because I can't afford to send them to private and we have just begun to talk about homeschooling.

Homeschooling all the way! I homeschooled from the time I was four(I was reading by the time I was four) until I graduated. Plan on doing it with my kids and all of my friends are previous homeschoolers. There's no two ways about it, homeschoolers are just downright cool. :cool

private, but it is prep. private, not christian...

a decision by my husband and his dad. There is nothing I can really do unless I put our son to public school

But at least this school encourages parental volunteers and involvments. They have strict rules, too. Some of the german baptists send their kids here too. (in this case, I am choosing the lesser evil :Green )

Ours go to an IFB school we are in close fellowship with and my dh stays involved by teaching a jr. high Bible class there. Its great, wouldn't have it any other way for now. We know its God's will for our family. Plus because of a pastors discount they give plus another discount for my dh teaching, its even cheaper than homeschooling.

I went to Catholic school for 9 yrs and then graduated from public HS. Now I go to WVU.

Right now, I have two brothers who are in Christian School after being in Catholic school for awhile and public school.

I also have two brothers in Catholic school right now. They were homeschooled at one time.

Hard to keep track of where they're all at.

Almost all of my friends are home-schooled... wait... I'll count them... 11 families off the top of my head and that makes it about 65 children being/have been home-schooled. They are just normal, somewhat smarter-than-average children. Oh yea, I was home-schooled too. I'm sort-of normal, but I'm not a good example :frog Anyway, some of these children are part of large families (around the 7 to 9 children mark), and the parents seem to cope with them OK. :thumb

One of my homeschool friend's family is made up of 9 kids. All of them are pretty smart kids. Being around older siblings and their parents all the time, the younger kids use words that I didn't know what they meant until I was older. One of the sons in a very good carpenter and he's in school now for engineering. I remember being amazed at some of the lego engineering another younger son came up with. The oldest got his paralegal degree at 19, I believe. He's now in college for a business degree as a stepping stone for his law degree.

I really like the idea of kids being able to develop into successful adults without having the pressure to conform to ungodly or inapproriate peer pressure.
Most of the homeschool kids I have met a creative, bright and confident individials who love the Lord. I really want this for our kids. So what exactly is stopping me?????????????? :roll

You just have to just jump in and do it. Everyone is hesitant to do something that they've never tried before. You could look for homeschoolers or homeschool groups in your area, as well, if you want to get advice from them or support. You'll learn a lot as you go too. :wink

From what I have seen, there is a stark difference between homeschool kids and public/Christian school kids. Homeschoolers have the ability to develop their own personalities more. And, from what I have seen at our church, they are the ones who are active in ministry, whereas I rarely see the Christian-schooled kids.
