Thank you A L L for participating I appreciate and value your input!!

I decided on a BPS bible. The Lancaster Bible Pub encourages the selling of their (BPS) bibles so we'll have to see how it goes?

I will eventually get a Cambridge (the thought of India paper sounds sooo neat?!)

Hi my name is Steve and I am ..... ::sob:: a bible junkie..... :sad

I've had the BPS Bible for several years.. They give them to the male graduates of Ambassador. I've only started using it recently, since my Scofield is wearing down, and I really like having the wide margins.

Whats Ambassador?

And which Scofield do you speak of (old,II orIII)?

My church gave me a Cambridge Bible when I graduated highschool and my parents gave me the same Bible a couple days later, but with wide margins (about 1 1/2"). I still use them both regularly. The wide margin one is really nice. :thumb

[offtopic]Did you have Mrs. Rosenau for an instructor (she teaches English there - don't know if she's the only one)? She was principal of the school I attended in 8th and 9th grade in WV.

The Registrar at ABC was someone I knew when I went to college in Milton, FL, too.[/offtopic]

Yes, I had English with her, as well as a few other classes. She's been there since the college started in '89. I think she turned 80 last year.

She and my mom teach most of Elementary Ed classes.

For what I want (wide margin' date=' no concord, no maps, no commentary, leather bound and with correct spellings and capitalizations. Not to mention one that lasts (no I can't afford an R.L. Allan)) I just can't decide??[/quote']I just received the BPS Bible. Based upon what I was looking for:
WideMargin: In most cases its almost 2 full inches :-S
Concordance, Maps and Commentary:None
Correct Spellings and Capitalizations:As far as I can tell all are in check. I only noted one misspelling (winevat versus winefat).
I got what I paid for and more.

I can say based upon initial observation, BPS bible are very nice and very highly recommended. Again thanks to everyone who participated!

The Cambridge is next (do I go with Pitt Minion and what is Pitt Minion? or the Paragraph Cambridge?)

I know you already got one.

I've got 2 Scofields, both bought on sale, I like them, but I do not use the commentary in them.

My favorite is the Thompson Chain. I wore one plumb out. I really like the way it reference verses. The other one was given to me when I was ordained by my church. But I hardly use it, wearing glasses the print is still to small.

I write in my Bible some, and I'm bad about drawing lines under many verses, I think a Bible is to use, if writing and drawing lines in a Bible helps, do it.

I like what DL Moody says
"My Bible is worth a good deal to me because I have so many passages marked... Do not buy a Bible that you are unwilling to mark and use. An interleaved Bible gives the most room for notes and suggestions." ? by Dwight L. Moody, (Bible-Marking from Golden Counsels 1899.)
I've heard both good and bad on the Thompson. I have one. But, I am not real sure how to use it and its in pretty bad shape too.

The Scofield I know is pretty revered among many IFBs. I have one but I am not certain which edition it is. It seems to be ok!?

I've got one pastor friend who amazes me, he uses all different colors of highlighters in his Bible. You might see 8 different colors on one page.

But, I never put him down for it, if it works for him more glory to him, the Bible is a tool and one thing for sure, we can't use it to much.

When I got my 1st Thompson Chain, I was not going to write in it, but rather shortly I found myself writing in it and making all kinds of marks.

I believe its hard for me to change Bibles because of my marks and notes in my Bible.

I know what you mean. I have several Bibles, but the one I call my "old workhorse Bible" that's full of underlinings is never long out of my hands. That's the Bible I got when I first turned exclusively to the KJB and really began studying the Word in-depth so it's real close to my heart even though it's a hardback and in much-used condition.

I do have one Bible from "Thru the Bible" ministries which has somewhat larger print that I've never marked in. I've only ever used that Bible for reading so it's "clean".
