    • Caffeine can be abused but in moderation it's ok.

I have gotten to the point I was addicted to caffeine. It hit me on e weekend when I was dead tired, and once I have some coffee, I was better. I cut back, and all is well. Like anything that is addictive in nature, its use in moderation is fine.

I have nothing against it morally but a caffeinated soda gives a quick pick-up for that day but the next day I feel literally destroyed. It makes me feel like I've been run over by a Mack truck and then the truck backed up on top of me again to see what he ran over.

Amazingly enough, and I am exceedingly thankful for this is that I can eat all the chocolate I want with no ill effects.

I had a roommate in college one year who was truly addicted to it. She was popping no-doz like candy and it kept taking more and more for it to help her. We...her loving roommates confronted her and she gave us the pills very readily and soon felt much better.

I, on the other hand, have to be very careful with the stuff because it makes my heart skip beats. Can't stand the feeling.

Having a lot of caffeine sometimes gets my heart rate up and makes me jittery, which is really annoying. But it's only when I'm not used to it. I used to drink it every day before it started bothering my stomach.

What about pot?[/quote]
...or Opium.

...or Jimson weed

...or Cocaine

...or Deadly Nightshade

All of these are found in nature

HAHAHA... I suppose I should think a bit more before posting. I was specifically referencing the smoking threads.

For the record, the idea that something is addictive is not enough to make it wrong. What is morally wrong is not having control of our minds. So technically, yes.

In college, I worked in the Residence Life department. Through a few busts, we had some pot on hand. We were (though we never did because it was evidence) going to burn (not smoke it) it so that the key residence life people would know the very distinct smell of marijuana. In that case, there would be nothing wrong with doing so (IMO), and that would technically be "in moderation".

In other words, there is nothing wrong with the act of inhaling marijuana smoke (like police during a bust). The use of the word "use" in my post makes what I said incorrect, but I hope that the reasoning makes sense.

I drink coffee all the time because it taste better than water.

caffeine does not do ANYTHING to me. It used to, but now I can drink it at night and still fall asleep on it.

and I can go for days without coffee too without the crankiness. but I really hate other type of drinks, even soda (which have caffeine too) so I don't bother skipping coffee. Although, I do like sweetened Ice Tea (which is also have caffeine).

I have done decaffeinated coffee for a week too and I don't feel the difference from regular coffee.

The only time I went a long time without coffee is when I was pregnant.. I avoid coffee at all cost and I did not have a problem with it.

I think not getting enough fluid can make you cranky... and people don't drink enough of it so they make it up by drinking coffee. But then again, coffee can make you more dehydrated.
