"But the church is also registered as a for-profit business and city officials said that means the owners must comply with state and federal regulations."

Why is this church also registered as a for-profit business?

The so-called "civil rights" laws long ago took away our rights to free association, freedom to run a business as the owner wishes, freedom to buy, sell or rent as we please. The entire "equality" movement has been all about destroying liberty, especially personal liberty, and forcing people to accept and help promote or support that which they don't want to. People allowed this to happen because they chose to vote and operate according to emotion rather than reason.

A more recent example is the mass killing in the church by one lone nut who admittedly didn't have a solid understanding of his own beliefs. Since Sharpton and the other race hustlers couldn't get the good folks of that church to go along with riots and protests, they decided to attack the Confederate battle flag. Based solely upon emotion people flocked to this idea and others either gave tacit approval or decided it wasn't any of their business. No matter the flag had nothing to do with the crime or the fact the flag being removed won't prevent another crime. Yet look all around and we see removing that flag isn't enough for them. Now they want to have all things Confederate erased from public, and not only that they are demanding statues of Washington, Jefferson, Will Rogers and many others be removed. They are going so far as to dig up the graves of General Forrest and his wife so they can move their "offending" grave site out of actual sight.

Sounds as if the communist Soviets won the cold war and have occupied America! But wait, it's Americans forcing this cultural and historical cleansing. Something Americans once said they abhorred. Just like happened in Nazi Germany, communist Russia and the Soviet Bloc, communist China, communist North Korea and elsewhere, most people either go along with it or remain silent (especially if the particular target doesn't seem that important to them) until eventually they get around to targeting things which directly effect them but by then it's too late to stop the train of eradication.

Whereas many churches across America once preached against government interference in churches in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc nations, China, North Korea, and such, now a growing number of churches are declaring churches must allow the government to dictate what the churches can and can't do. Others silently cower on the sidelines hoping not to be noticed.

Sure, give in a little here and there in the 1800s, give a little more in the early 20th century, go much further in the last half of the 20th century, now give even more at the beginning of the 21st century, and we see they are still not pleased. They won't be pleased until virtually our entire history and heritage is erased and they have transformed America into a socialist nation dominated by Third Worlders and filled with false religionists.

If it comes to jail, so be it. Anyway, the idea that preachers and churches MUST do weddings and funerals is Catholic, not Bible nor law.

Our church doesn't do weddings. If I choose to perform a wedding ceremony, the church can deny or allow my use of the facility as a personal favor.

I use an auto mechanic who has a tire repair facility. He has done more extensive auto work (and charged accordingly) as a personal favor but might not do the same work for you because the building he uses is for tire repair and sales.

I preach the gospel and deal with people's spiritual well-being. I may choose to handle your wedding or funeral as a favor but I don't charge - if you choose to give an honorarium, that's your choice. If the church allows me to use the facilities, it's a favor -- the building is for worship and teaching.

I don't do weddings with immodest apparel (mine or the church's definition of such -- whichever is more restrictive). "You can't decide if it's immodest!", we CAN decide if we won't be party to the event. We don't allow alcohol nor non-alcoholic drink in alcoholic appearing containers in the church or fellowship hall. There won't be a garter ceremony in the church nor fellowship hall. "It's HER day!", sure it is - nobody said she can't her wedding, it can be held somewhere else with someone else officiating it.

"You have to do weddings!" Cite chapter and verse (or state statute, for that matter). No, I SOMETIMES choose to do weddings.

I, as a minister of Jesus Christ, not the public mind you, have only performed 2 weddings my whole time of 25 years of being a minister.

No big deal. The church ain't no bizniss anywho.

I've only done about a half dozen or less since 1978 but MANY funerals (even for people I didn't know). However, in funeral or wedding, if you don't want the gospel preached, find someone else!!.

I dunno.  To me a whole lot of this is way to Catholic.  Their for social justice and conservative social issues too.  That church has two sides to it and what I think.  The pope will take it anyway he can get it.  lol.  So as long as he is over every King and President he will take that deal.  I also think with them the members of the RCC the pope is in charge they like it like that.  One day you just may have a Catholic majority in this country.  Some people just want to win at any cost.  Bill O'Reilly sounds oh so good to so many.  That can be a very activist "church".  I stay away from that kind of thing.  They never did things like that in the NT.  No one can find that to my satisfaction.  All I can ever find is preaching the Gospel. There is an old saying,  If you lay down with dogs your going to get fleas.   All these people that Christians follow these days seem like straight talkers however the whole thing seems to be going sideways to me. Come out from among them and be separate.  Probably means about 12 different things to 12 different Bible believing Christians these days  To me it means stay away from everybody and everything that isn't. That includes TV and also political opinion that's composed of all kinds of different people.  Preach the Gospel its what God asked you to do.

Jail ministries are scriptural, ain't they?

Yep. Be aware, however, that some states (Alabama, for example) have made it a punishable offense (loss of privilege, work detail, solitary, report in your record, etc) for an inmate to "lead in", "initiate" or "conduct" any "worship" or "religious activities".

I realize most of that stems from the numerous problems created by NOI but can highly affect incarcerated Christians.

Brother I agree , but it was our liberal mayor in his first news interview pledging to remove the flag stating it represented the hate of the young man whom had murdered those folks all the others jumped on board ,Satan put the hate in his heart not a flag, and he's using these folks to promote more hate within others hearts pulling them away from the Truth, Jesus Christ our Lord.

God Bless,

OP was deleted due to me finding out that the news article was fabricated.

But the threat is definitely real.

The gist of it is now that the SCOTUS has legalized male/male and female/female marriages, pastors will be threatened with jail and/or prison sentences should they refuse to perform ceremonies for such.

One State is now requiring Christians who counsel in State facilities sign a form agreeing not to call homosexuality a sin.

Bit by bit they are working to paint real Christians as extremists. By tagging us as fundamentalist extremists, homophobes and such they can build hate for us among the general population. This builds their ability to silence us in the public arena as a growing percentage of the population comes to think we need to be silenced.

How long before these efforts reach the point of declaring sharing the Gospel to be an act of hateful intolerance by fundamentalist extremists out to divide and destroy the country?

The Catholic connection has come up a couple times in this thread. I was thinking about, as was also mentioned, the digging up of the bodies of 'offending Confederate generals". It definitely reminds me of the old Catholics, how they dug up the body of Wycliffe a century after his death, so they could burn it and toss the remains in the river, ("That'll teach him!"), or how one pope dug up the remains of his predecessor and burned his body for being a heretic. Oh, no! PLEASE don't burn my body 50 years after I'm dead! Whatever shall I do?" Its pure symbolism-it means nothing, and if we let them start, where does it end? Whose grave will be desecrated? Will the Lincoln memorial be replaced by the Harvey Milk memorial? Will Freddy Mercury get a nice statue somewhere, after they take down the evil Jefferson statue somewhere? Or replace Washington with Malcolm X?

Jail? Prison? Might be preferable to what will be happening outside-after all, the libs are working so hard to let all the scum out and putting the God-fearing in, we might want to go in, instead. There will soon come a time that the class and quality of people behind bars will be far better than those outside.
