Never have heard a true IFB preacher quote Calvin for anything more than to rebut his incorrect doctrine.

I'm not sure of any quoting Calvin, but they quote Calvinist preachers.

I don't know much about Calvin, and much less his conversion, but I do have a book written by Charles Eason, 1937,

that states the following, quoting from another book by T.M. Lindsay in his 'History of the Reformation':

"It was Beza, not Calvin, who was the father of the seventeenth century

doctrine of predestination - a conception which differed from Calvin's as

widely as the skeleton differs from the man - instinct with life and action."

It goes on to say: "The same opinion is expressed by Cunningham in his book - 'The Reformers and the Theology of the Reformation'."

(The 'strongly Calvinistic notes of the 1599 Geneva Bible, [being the Tomson NT, not the original Genevan NT] use the notes right from Beza's Latin NT commentary.

This is where people say that the Geneva Bible is  'overly Calvinistic', and unusable by real followers of Christ. The 1560 is not like that.)

In the end I confronted him with the use of the term "calvinism" to which he replied "I never used that name".

He also denied association with "the doctrines of grace" (so called).

In other words, whilst both he and I knew what he was pushing, he lied about his association with it,  protesting against what he was clearly arguing for, and becoming quite aggressive when I challenged him on it.

I find this common amongst those who teach Calvin's doctrine - they realise the name is not liked so they try to distance themselves from the name whilst teaching the lie.

They tend to shy away from the names applied and get angry when you use the name, but still teach their poison.

Just as many CALVINISTS get their fish (church members) from other fishtanks (churches), they are now getting their identity from others.

I was doing a little research a couple of weeks ago, and I read an article from a CALVINIST who wrote this rather lengthy explanation as to why "his church" no longer refers to themselves as "CALVINISTS" or "Reformed" since both terms are beginning to have negative connotations...so they now refer to themselves simply as "Bible believers".

That's the first time I've ever seen CALVINISTS adopt a name that (from my experience) has mostly been used by people who didn't want to associate with any type of man-made doctrine.

Just as people like Piper push to infiltrate non-suspecting churches with CALVINISTS and take over, they're probably adopting "Bible believer" so they can take that over in order to counteract those who use it rightfully.
