Hoodies in church: In Sunday sermons about Trayvon Martin, calls for justice from the pulpit

In their Sunday sermons, pastors and church leaders across the country mourned the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old African-American who was killed in Sanford, Fla., last month. Some wore hoodies in Martin's honor. Many church-goers did the same.
In Atlanta, dozens wore hoodies in Martin's memory at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. once preached.
"They said his name was Trayvon Martin," a hoodie-clad Rev. Raphael Warnock said. "But he looked like Emmett Till," a reference to the 1955 case of a 14-year-old boy who was lynched for allegedly whistling at a white woman. "At least with Emmett Till someone was arrested. And that was in 1955."
Many others called for justice in the case--and for George Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch captain who shot Martin, to be arrested.
Rev. Jesse Jackson called Martin a "martyr," and led the congregation at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, Fla., in a chant: "Stop the violence. Save the children."

"Whether you are wearing a hood or a sheet, nobody has the right to kill anybody," Jackson said. "The danger of focusing on the hoodie is that he wasn't killed because of the hoodie. He was killed because he was black. The issue is not the hoodie--it's race, registration and civil rights."
Jackson also compared Martin's death to Till, as well as those of slain civil rights leaders Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King.
"There's power in the blood of Emmett Till," Jackson preached. "There's power in in the blood of Medgar Evers! There's power in the blood of Dr. King!"

What's so crazy is that people are automatically assuming that Zimmerman is guilty. Let the facts speak for themselves! If he is, it'll undoubtedly come to the surface. Give the man a fair chance.
God bless,

Trayvon Martin Death: Police Say Witnesses Back Zimmerman's Story

Now we are getting some info, if its true, them it looks as if the young man was in the wrong. One thing, even if it is proven the young man was in the wrong, I expect many will not ever accept it, & call everyone supporting it, raciest. I say that because of an event that happen in the small town down the road from me, when the ones crying loud & clear racial discrimination was the ones being raciest.

Even in this article they claim this young man is being slandered.

The media, black "leadership" and many liberals have already made up their mind. No matter how many facts may come out to prove Trayvon was in the wrong and George did act in self defense, if that's what the facts show, the race agitators won't accept it. They will claim discrimination, cover-up and racism. All the while they will make demands for some form of compensation for the "travesty of justice" and eventually they will get something handed to them whether it's a nother multi-million dollar grant or whatever.

Up until this article that I just posted, I felt there was a need for more investigation, & I cannot blame them. But I disagree with their call to arrest, try him, convict him, punish him. A call for a complete investigation would have been sufficient.

They need to be sure as best as possible to know just what took place.

And as far as I know we are still basking what we know about this matter on the media, as you have said, it cannot be trusted.

Agreed, we still don't know the whole story. What we do know is the media, most liberals and black "leaders" want George strung up; they dont' care about the facts.

It's all about political power right now. How sad that black "reverends" call out that certain mortal black men have "power in their blood", in a very clear comparison to Christ, who is the ONLY One who truly has power in the blood.

THE COLOR OF RACISM

March 27, 2012 NewsWithViews.com

By Lynn Stuter

The mainstream media has hyped it; Mama and Papa have had their faces before the mainstream media lens at every available opportunity; Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are running their mouths endlessly, pastors are hyping it, the mainstream media has turned it into a three-ring circus.

To hear all these talking heads tell it, Trayvon Martin was killed in cold blood.

Mama and Papa are screaming at the tops of their voices, echoed by the likes of the usual race-baiting duo of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, all aided and abetted by the mainstream media who has provided them abundant exposure while carefully avoiding the truth.

So hot has the situation become that the whole matter has now been handed off from local law enforcement, who have received death threats, to an outside prosecutor appointed by I'm-bending-over-backwards-to-prove-I'm-not-racist Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida; and the individual who has claimed self-defense in the matter has gone into hiding.

For the past two weeks, the American people have been led to believe, by Mama and Papa, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, the mainstream media and various other talking heads, that the death of Trayvon Martin was a senseless act of cold-blooded murder committed against a black teenage boy by a half Hispanic, half white man wielding a gun.

The terms hate crime, racist, racially-motivated, racial killing, and racism have been loosely bandied about and dropped from the tongues of these people with reckless abandon, have become the impetus and focus of the growing racially-motivated protests across America, and have been spewed forth from the pulpits of supposedly Christian churches with all caution pitched to the wind!

The illegal alien occupying the Oval Office, residing illegitimately in the White House, has proclaimed that Trayvon Martin could have been his child. As one commented, would he have made that statement if Trayvon Martin had been anything but what he was - black? Doubtful, very doubtful, given the illegal alien's racist world view that anyone black is oppressed, anyone white the oppressor, a world view that aligns with the liberation theology taught from the pulpit of his favorite pastor and friend, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

What has not been said, by any of these people, until after reported by an alternative news source in recent days, is that Trayvon Martin was not so innocent in all this; that Trayvon Martin was witnessed pummeling Zimmerman (the "trigger-happy shooter") as Zimmerman lay on the ground with Martin on top of him; that the police report bears out what the witness has reported - that Zimmerman had a bloodied face, the back of his shirt and pants wet from being on his back on the ground, and grass stains on both his pants and shirt, consistent with what the witness saw and reported, and what Zimmerman has told police called to the scene.

Let's take a very similar situation and see how the media has handled that.

In Spokane, Washington, within the past two weeks, a white man, retired high school principal, former military, patient advocate at the regional veterans center, sought to break up a party involving over 100 teenagers at the house next door. He was doing so at the request of the out-of-town home owners whose teenage son had been left at home. The party was out of control, the police had been called, arriving at the same time this white man entered the home. He was there at the request of the home owners.

This white man was slugged by a black teenage party attendee and knocked to the ground; this teenager claiming the white man shoved (others stated he nudged) the suspect's pregnant teenage girlfriend and he slugged the guy in defense of his girlfriend; further stating that he did not regret what he had done.

The white man got up with blood running from his ear and nose, soon lost consciousness, was rushed to a hospital and died within a few days from traumatic head injury.

The black teenager has now been charged with murder.

Where is Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the illegal alien in the Oval Office? Where are all the black talking heads, all the pastors, all the protestors whipping up anti-white sentiment across America in the Trayvon Martin incident?

Have the terms hate crime, racist, racially-motivated, racial killing, and racism dropped from the tongues of the very same people now exploiting the Trayvon Martin situation?

How about the mainstream media? Have you heard about this incident on the national news? How about your local news?

You've not heard of this incident?

Are you surprised?

How many senseless black on white killings have there been across America that have never reached a local media spotlight, let alone the national media spotlight?

shop-btn-anim.gif

If a white shooting a black in self-defense is racist; what is a black killing a white for no good reason? Is one not just as racist, just as much a hate crime, just as much racially motivated as the other? Yes, it is.

Has this black kid been charged with a hate crime? With a racially-motivated killing? No, he hasn't.

The hype surrounding the Trayvon Martin incident can only mean one thing - it is propaganda to achieve a political agenda.

The likes of the illegal alien in the Oval Office, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson do not want equality, they want superiority, they want special rights. And the message loud and clear, regarding the color of racism, is that those special rights make it okay for blacks to kill whites, but it is not okay for whites to kill blacks, even in self-defense.

In reflecting on this, I wonder who is being baited here?

It smells like there could be more to this than meets the eye. What is the background of both the shooter and the youngster?

Too early to make any determination that is for sure. I hope someone updates this thread as soon as more facts come in.

Too early to make any determination that is for sure. I hope someone updates this thread as soon as more facts come in.

At the moment it appears the shooter, George, was a neighborhood watch captain who was also taking college courses to become a cop.

The one killed, Travyon, it has now been reported, had been in trouble for drug related problems.

There had been problems in the neighborood George helped watch. Most often it seems by the time police showed up those who committed crimes were already gone. That's why George was trying to watch the person more closely this time, hoping he could guide the police to him before he got completely away.

As it turns out, George should have listened to the 911 operator and not followed the suspect, but he did, a judgement call on his part at the time which he likely would now like to change.

Trayvon knew he was being followed, was told to run and get away by the person he was talking with on his phone. Trayvon refused to run away, saying he would just walk fast, but then decided not to walk away either, but to turn and confront George; a decision he likely wishes he could make differently now. Upon confronting George it now seems, according to George and eyewitnesses, that Trayvon began beating George, knocked him to the ground, continued to beat on him as George yelled for help. At some point Trayvon noticed George had a gun on him George says he tried to get it but George eventually ended up with the gun as Trayvon kept pounding on him and George shot him.

So far, eyewitness testimony and police reportes all substantiate what George has said. This is why the local police didn't arrest George at the time or afterward, because all evidence pointed to a justified shooting, no matter how tragic the circumstances.

If it were not for the media turning this into a racial case, which black "leaders" and liberals were all to quick to jump on board with, this case would have been over with by now. Instead, it's been turned into a racial issue with the media and now many others ramping up racial hatred once more and demanding George be toss to the wolves, no matter the truth. Rest assured, the demands will not stop there, there will be new calls for "hate crimes" laws, more money for black organizations, etc.

Trayvon Martin Dogged By Disciplinary Problems at School

Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager shot dead during a scuffle with a neighborhood watchman, was suspended from his Miami school three times over the past year, according to the family attorney.
The revelation that Martin, 17, was dogged by disciplinary problems at school was the latest salvo in a war of leaks meant to bolster each side amid rising tension over the Feb. 26 shooting.
Martin's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, will appear before a House panel today and rallies continue around the country demanding that George Zimmerman, the 28-year-old watchman who shot Martin, be arrested.
Martin may have cut a more imposing figure than previously known. Recent pictures on the web and social media show him with gold dental grill and making obscene gestures to the camera.
In addition, Martin's Miami school records show that he has been suspended three times.
Family attorney Benjamin Crump confirmed to ABC News that Martin had been slapped with a 10 day school suspension after a bag with suspected marijuana was found in his backpack.
Last year Martin was suspended for spraying graffiti on school grounds. The Miami Herald reported that the school guard who stopped him searched his backpack and found 12 items of women's jewelry and a flathead screw driver that the guard believed to be a "burglary implement." But Martin was never charged or specifically disciplined for the incident.
Crump alleged that the Sanford police had leaked damaging information about Martin into order to muddy the case, calling it a "conspiracy." Crump called the school disciplinary problems "irrelevant" to the case that "an unarmed 17 year kid was killed."
The case has triggered national interest with pro-Martin rallies in cities from coast to coast. Martin's mother has moved to trademark two popular rallying cries, "I am Trayvon" and "Justice for Trayvon." The family said it does not want want other people printing memorabilia.
"Sybrina Fulton has no desire to profit from her son's death, but wants to protect her son's name legacy," said family representative Ryan Julison.
Martin was shot as he made his way to his father's fiance's house while returning from a convenience store where he bought a pack of Skittles and iced tea. He was followed by Zimmerman who found him suspicious.
At some point, Zimmerman ignored the suggestion from a 911 dispatcher that he stop following Martin, left his truck and went to look for Martin.
At the same time, Martin was on the phone with his girlfriend and complained that someone was following him.
What happened then is not clear. The girlfriend has said that she heard Martin ask someone, "Why are you following me?" before the sounds of a scuffle and the phone was disconnected.
Zimmerman is described as 5-foot-9 and well over 200 pounds while Martin was 6-foot-3 and 150 pounds.
Leaks from the police report detail Zimmerman telling police he was heading back to his truck when Martin knocked him down with a punch to his nose, jumped on him, repeatedly banged his head on the ground, then tried to grab Zimmerman's gun.
In a struggle for Zimmerman's gun, the watchman shot the teenager, Zimmerman told police.

Trayvon Martin’s family looks to trademark ‘I am Trayvon,’ ‘Justice for Trayvon’

Trayvon Martin's mother Sybrina Fulton is seeking to trademark phrases with her son's name.
According to applications filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by the family's attorney last week, Fulton wants to trademark "I am Trayvon" and "Justice for Trayvon" for use in DVDs and CDs memorializing the slain teenager.

In the wake of the news that her son had been suspended from school after traces of marijuana were found in his book bag, Fulton said Monday that those leaking information were trying to blame the victim. "They killed my son, and now they are trying to kill his reputation," Fulton said.
Fulton's trademark application could be fuel for critics who contend Martin's parents—and civil rights activists like Rev. Al Sharpton—are trying to capitalize on the killing for personal or financial gain.
But Martin—who was unarmed when he was shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, in Sanford, Fla., last month—and the hooded sweatshirt he was wearing at the time he was killed, have become symbols of the country's racial divide and the pursuit of justice. Martin's family may simply be trying to gain some control over his name, which has been cropping up on t-shirts and hoodies across the country.

Zimmerman's image, meanwhile, appears on a t-shirt that is causing even more furor in Florida. Zimmerman's face appears on the shirt under the phrase "P*** A** CRACKER." A photo of a Florida rapper—Plies—wearing the shirt was posted on Twitter, sparking outrage among Zimmerman's supporters.

For me, it seems as if the authorities failed.

It SEEMS they did not release no information that I know of on why they did not charge the shooter. And it seems that when there were questions on this matter, they still did not. When things are handled in this manner, no matter who is involved, it starts looking like a cover up.

As far as I know, that was the 1st time they released any details about this matter. I had read many other articles & none of them gave any hint that this young man jumped the shooter from behind, hit him in the nose, & beat his head on the side-walk.

All the other articles, to me, made it appear that the shooter was the aggressor, & did not even hint at the young man doing one wrong thing.

That said, even if its proved the shooter did no wrong, many will not accept that, & will still call for the shooters head.

Edited, I can't spell, so I had to redo one word.
