One of the very few years that we have seen snow on Christmas Eve in Southwest Arkansas, but we did. It began somewhere around 10:00 PM.

Coming home from Linda's brothers house it snowed on us till we got to Murfreesboro, and many of the cars and roof tops had snow on them. But before we got to Nashville it had stopped, them started back just a bit right before we got home.

That is enough snow for me this year.

Please, that little bit was enough. We need sun, for before that snow it rained and everything is soaked, had begun to think we needed a boat.

But today the sun is shining brightly, the sky is so blue and pretty, 26

There was some roads through our area that flooded yesterday, we could not go the normal route to Linda's brother because of the road overflowing in 2 places. This evening we came back that way and the roads were OK, but there were many fields that were covered in water. Plus in one area close to a river the road nearly washed out, it was working on the shoulder of the road pretty good.

My brother in law said he saw one field of about 80 acres covered in water this morning with the wind blowing it had about 4 foot white caps all across it, said it was a strange sight to behold. He and my other brother in law had some cows they could not get to because water and more water.

We have a wonderful amount of snow up here. I love it, we got more yesterday. I drove in the driving blizzard yesterday, Some times the visibility was about 20 feet, but the Lord kept me safe :-)

How much snow does it take to have a wonderful amount?

If my memory serves me correctly, in about January 1999 we received 17 inches of snow in one day, many of the chicken houses collapsed, falling to the ground. I had baby chickens at that time, mine did not fall but they received a bit over $5,000 in damage each. PrOBably if there had been another couple of inches they would have gone down.

A close neighbor had just stepped out of one of his chicken houses, before he could close the door it went to the ground.

They were some who had up to 4 houses hit the ground. I believe nearly 100 chicken houses went down in about a 3 or 4 county area, many had chickens in them.

After that all of our insurance companies would no longer cover chicken houses that collapsed from the weight of snow. I believe they finally started covering all new houses but they had to meet a certain specifications.

That year, 17 inches was not a wonderful amount around these parts, I feel most Chicken growers are hoping we never get that much snow again. That was the most snow we ever had at one time.

We have had an unusually large amount of snow. 5 Eurostar trains from London to Paris and Brussels broke down in the tunnel causing prOBlems with travellers. Air ports were effected as well a channel car ferries and local train services. But it was more or less back to normal by the 24th, here in the south anyway. Further north they still had prOBlems.

We have about 6-8 inches...10-14 inch snowdrifts right now, just right.

Two blizzards came through Iowa in a week's time. The first one dumped about 10 inches and the second dumped another 7. Another snowstorm on Christmas Day dropped an additional 2 inches, and we're expecting another 2-3 inches on Wednesday. By the way, temperatures have been below freezing most of that time. It's pretty sad when you can wear a windbreaker and break out the suntan lotion in 26-degree weather!
