I like the Duke University men's and women's basketball teams because of Coach K's winning and motivation at a small private university. I do not like Duke University's religious views or anything like that, but I do like the basketball teams. They are 10-1 right now, and that is very good for a team with only one senior! I have pulled for Duke for over 48 years! So, go Duke University!

Hi Everybody, :Green Contrary to popular belief Google is not your friend. ((((They are somewhat "Gestapo-like" in their tactics.)))) However, a good friend told me about one that is very much our friend, and it is Goodsearch.com They will give one penny for every search you do to your favorite charity of your choice. My choice is Bearing Precious Seed, from Milford, OH. :thumb These are the people we do Seedline projects for, and get our John-Romans from.

Do any of you watch the movies made by this company? If so, what do you think of them and would you recommend them? Until recently, every movie I've ever watched by them has been decent and worthwhile for kids. We borrowed I Was A Rat from the library and never even thought it might need previewed since it was by Feature Films For Families. It is more or less a "Cinderella" type story and was decent overall but in one of the outdoor shots of the magnificent castle, a piece of art was prominently displayed in the scene and it featured a nude woman!!! :puzzled: I understand that these are commonplace pieces of art but why would FFFF display that when they know kids…

I probably should have posted this a few days ago, but anyway, did anyone attend the Kansas Baptist Men's Recharge this week (27th & 28th) near WIchita, KS? If so, what did you think? This was my first. Also, did anyone attend the October 2008 Men's Advance Retreat in Stillwater, OK? If so, what did you think? That was my first for that one as well.

Other schools close for Martin Luther King Day and Presidents' Day; I figured it wouldn't hurt if we took a break for Dr. Seuss's birthday, since we don't take those other days off. Instead of their regular school subjects, my kids are reading, reading, reading (not just Dr. Seuss stuff). Who/what are some of y'all's favorite children's authors and books--either ones you enjoyed as a child or ones you've discovered since then?

You turn on your computer and fire up an internet session. Then run over to your favorite discussion site and begin to look at some interesting threads. You open up one that interests you titled, "I think God hates people." The OP reads, "...so, that is why I say...hates us." You want to reply with a favorite scripture but, you can't remember where the scripture is. Ah, but you do remember a key word in the scripture verse. You open another session and word search, you find...1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. So, you copy and paste your reply with a few comments. No problem, right? Now, follow God's commandment and go to your local "Jer…

*DISCLAIMER* This thread is intended merely for lighthearted humor, story-sharing and laughing at ourselves. I think my pal, Murphy, deserves his own thread. You know Murphy, right? Murphy of "Murphy's Law"? This thread is strictly for our run-ins with good ol' Murphy. Feel free to share your own. My story today has a chain of events that led up to today. About two weeks ago, we bought a new pictus catfish for our aquarium. This is what he looked like: All was fine and dandy until late last week, I noticed he had gotten "ick" - a fish parasite. We treated for the "ick" but didn't realize the meds we got are dangerous to catfish. Well, we also had…

Hey, I am planning on doing a Bible study with a good friend on the doctrines of the Bible. We are going to go through many doctrines, including unbiblical ones, and hopefully come out closer to God and better informed. I was wondering if anyone can point me to sites, books, and free resources that could help. Thank in advance!

Yes, praise the Lord! I have what I hope is the common cold. I just prayed about it and gave God the glory. Why would you praise God for a cold, you may ask? I can't remember the last time I had one. I didn't want to talk about it until I knew I was sick with one. But, the Lord has been especially loving toward me in regard to sickness. I know I had a cold a couple of years back, maybe three. I hope it's not the flu...I had that about four years ago and it was terrible! So, praise God!

February 27, 2009 A Former Nun's Memoirs Rock Catholic Church After 26 years as a nun, Jesme Raphael gave up her robes and walked out of the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel, the Catholic order in Kerala, India, that had been her home for three decades. Two years later, Raphael, now 53, has come out with her memoirs, Amen: An Autobiography of A Nun, cataloging lurid details of bullying, sexual abuse and homosexuality in the oldest Catholic women's order in the idyllic coastal state in southern India. Shocking as it is, the book is only the latest in a long series of accusations and scandals afflicting the Catholic Church in the state with the largest population of …

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S AMERICA By Chuck Baldwin February 18, 2009 NewsWithViews.com America just celebrated Presidents Day this past Monday. What first began as an observance for President George Washington has (since the 1980s) morphed into the generic "Presidents Day," which is a politically correct celebration of mediocrity that forces our nation's greatest President to be lumped together with incompetents such as Ulysses S. Grant, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter. On the occasion of Presidents Day, a USA Today/Gallup poll asked the American people to select the greatest President. The top five Presidents, according to the Gallup poll, are (in order): Ronald Reaga…

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the beauty of mathematics :Green Here is a really neat puzzle for your perusal:::::::::::::::: Take a full-size sheet of paper and cut it in half. Place the cutoff half on top of the other half so that now there are two pieces of paper one on top of the other. Cut the two-piece stack in half and place the cutoff pieces on top of the other two just as you did previously. Cut he four-piece stack in half and place the four cutoff pieces on top of the other four pieces. Do it again. ...and again ...and again ...keep doing that until you have done that a total of ten times. Now for the question:::::::::::::::::;; ***Since o…

Have any of you heard about Red Envelope Day? It's where everyone who is pro-life sends a red envelope to the white house on March 31st that is empty to symbolize a life that was taken due to abortion. http://redenvelopeday.com/ has more information on it. I think if enough pro-lifers do this we can show Obama that we do not approve of his abortion/murder agenda. Do you think the mailroom clerks will just throw them all away though?

For the purpose of this poll I mean ones that were answered yes and in line with what you asked. Technically I know a no is also a answer but that isn't what I have in mind...

Generally speaking, do you feel better or worse after a visit on this forum? Another question that would be interesting to compare with this poll would be to know whether everyone who answered tends towards optimism or pessimism.

The Religious Beliefs Of Our Presidents by Franklin Steiner An account of the religious beliefs, and lack of such beliefs, of our chief executives, and a chronicle of the more important religious events and controversies of their administrations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "When the crisis came, Jefferson, Paine, John Adams, Washington, Franklin, Madison, and many lesser lights were to be reckoned among either the Unitarians or the Deists. it was not Cotton Mather's God to whom the author of the Declaration of Independence appealed, it was to 'Nature's God.' From whatever source derived, the effect of both Uni…
