Can someone help me with the name of this Hymn/Song and the author? "I met Jesus at the crossroads, where the two ways meet. Satan, too, was standing there and he said, 'come this way... Lots and lots of pleasures I will give to you this day.' But I said, 'no, there's Jesus here. See what He offers me. Down here, my sins forgiven; up there a home in heaven. Praise God, that's the way for me' "

I was wondering whose music you all enjoy listening to he most. My all time favorite group is the Cathedrals. In fact, their Sympnohy of Praise project is my all time favorite recording.

My first post! Will post again soon introducing myself. In the meanwhile, does anyone have any information on MyMusicInc.Com? I came across them while searching for real players. It doesn't seem one can simply download the real players all by itself. Their information seems almost too good to be true--so maybe it is :? They offer free downloading of tons of music and videos for a modest signup fee. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide. Thanks a million! Onesimus

The 5 Browns

Anybody else ever heard of this group? It's a group of five(5) brothers and sisters who all play the piano together. Not only do they play together, but they all went to Julliard together. Julliard! They went to that school together for 5 years, making Julliard history. They are all different ages, with seven years seperating the youngest from the oldest. They have a CD out(which has a DVD too), and they play absolutely incredible music. It's all classical, and I was absolutely blown away by how well they play. I actually found the CD by accident, while looking for a bluegrass gospel CD, and I previewed the CD and fell in love with it. They're all right about their…

heavy metal 1 2

 This is how heavy metal makes me feel. I used to listen to it all the time. But I don't anymore and it is very oppresive to me now. The bakers at work like to play it top volume for hours and the boss says I am not allowed to say anything about it because "they have done it for years you can't change what they do now, thats not fair." But I felt suicidal and everything, not only that but it made me feel violent, and it hurts my ears to the point of giving me ear infections and it hurts my head and I can't hear properly for hours afterward. This is what happened to me today. Katy-Anne

There was a cute song we have heard over the years and I think the title is Please Let Me Sing in the Choir. Obviously not one of the great hymns of the faith, but a cute song. Does anyone have the lyrics to this and the name of the songwriter? Much obliged!

Hey yall, I currently play a lot of bluegrass music. Some of it is gospel some of it is not. The stuff that is not is generally benign...talking about tractors, mountains, hogs...etc. This music does not explicitly glorify the Lord, but it talks about the human experience such as life, love, leaving home, etc. Is it bad that I play this music? Should I play nothing but Gospel? These are just subtle doubts in my mind....

Loud Music 1 2 3 4

Should Christians listen to music loud? Do you think it could possibly harm their testimony? I listen to good solid Christian music loud, especially when I am driving. Sometimes it is to block the junk others are playing, other times it is merely loud because I am tired and sometimes depending on the song, (Morning trumpet is one) it sounds great loud. I am just wondering what others thought about this

I would like to know if there is a website that I can go to to get information on certain Southern Gospel groups/people? What I am looking for is something that will give background info on the group/person and/or their testimony. Any help will be appricated.

black spirituals 1 2

Are black spirituals ok? I mean I really like them, but I don't want to listen to them if they are wrong. Yesterday I did something really bad. I was at the shops and like I saw my friend and she said hi and moved on. I was in front of a music store and when she left it was playing Abba. Now, back when I was listening to rock n roll, I loved Abba. So when I heard it I...umm...went into the shop to hear the rest of the song. I came out with two CD's of these black spirituals. So yeah they were bought in a secular music shop. And I know I shouldn't have been in there because it always makes me struggle. And I am supposed to be saving my money really hard to get ba…

Music without words 1 2
by Ron- 21 replies

Here's an interesting topic for discussion: Many people here would agree that music itself is not amoral, which is why several including myself believe you can't put Christian words with bad music and call it pleasing to God. But what about music without words? I'm not talking about instrumentals of hymns and spiritual songs where one can relate to the words by hearing the music alone. But what about something like a beautifully arranged symphony or a tune that may have all the elements of good musical style without words. Because they do not have words uplifting and praising God, does that mean the music is neutral or can it still give glory to God by the musical elemen…

I personally don't think so, but I'm not that familiar with the subject. There are many differing opinions, and I wanted to know what you thought.

Well, I'm a southern girl who plays guitar non-stop. I love it sooo much. I enjoy playing for my youth choir and just for fun! Chording is the best! breaking up chords, capos, picking.. well anything is awesome. I've had my guitar for appox. 2 years and it's the best instrument ever! I've played piano for 8 years, but this.. whoa.. the guitar is soo much better.. well this is my opinion. If anybody out there shares this same zeal post please! -kate

Many of you know I have a very special friend getting ready to leave for Iraq in a few weeks... He is leaving behind a 9 year old daughter, 2 year old son, and a wife that is due with a little girl around Feb. 10th. I found this tribute and cried my eyes out... If ANY feel it offensive, please feel free to let me know and delete it, but I cried my eyes out.. Especially those that have loved one serving in the Military right now.. Let me know what you think of this... http://home.insightbb.com/~armedforcest ... index.html Oh, and turn up your sound...

Are drums or other percussion instruments wrong to use or play in a church setting?

question about drums
by Guest Guest- 10 replies

I am not trying to cause an argument here. I have been wondering about some things though. With drums, I know that some people believe that they are wrong period. But some say its ok in worldly music but not ok in Christian music, but to me thats sort of the same as saying that rock music is bad but Christian rock is ok. (I believe ANY form of rock music is wrong!) My view at the moment is that drums are ok in moderation if you can hear the music etc and as long as it is not rock music. But can someone tell me why people say drums are ok in worldly music but not ok in Christian music? Lol I am a black and white person. If something is wrong it is wrong all the time…
