Its too bad such a beautiful intriguing historical site is a tool of the devil. I would love to visit someday.

It's a shame the true history of Stonehenge isn't known. It would be nice to know if this were simply an elaborate calendar, some sort of monument to heroes (alive or fallen), a cemetary monument, or some sort of pagan religious site...or something else altogether.

The devil will use what he can. This is among the reasons why God commanded Israel to destroy ALL things pertaining to the false religions of those the Jews drove from the Promised Land; and this not only included idols, but altars and even groves of trees used for the worship of false gods.

Paganism is making a comeback, and places like Stonehenge which, whether right or wrong, that are associated with ancient pagan religions, are being used to prop up neo-paganism. This is occuring in Greece and elsewhere too.

I agree with you Suzy, Stonehenge is intriguing and it would be cool to visit...sometime other than pagan party time!:runforhills:

Infidels are busy worshipping this earth and everything in it, of course its the only thing they've got to hold onto and worship.

Maybe such as this ought to remind us of what kind of people we ought to be.

Most European and American pagans have specifically rejected Christianity; some even the idea there could be such a thing as the Christian God. However, they still feel that need within to search out for that "something else". Of course, only God through Christ can truly fill that void.

It's interesting that even among similar pagans there is the argument over whether there is a real "God" or "gods". Such as some followers of the Norse/Germanic religion, for instance, argue and debate over whether their gods are real or symbolic. These groups debate and argue endlessly over whether Odin, Thor, Freya, Loki and the rest of their pantheon of gods are actually real or only symbolic.

This same sort of debate is seen among followers of the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, American Indian, Wiccan/witches and other false, pagan religions.

In their search for meaning and their reaching out for the "divine", they grasp at man-made gods no more real than the golden calf the Israelites molded and Moses destroyed.

It's sad to consider just how close God is before them yet they prefer to make their own gods and worship that which doesn't exist rather than turn to Christ.

I've talked with many online and most are very familiar with Scripture, most have a Christian background, and most have hardened their hearts to the truth.

Several years back on a liberal religious forum I posted on for a short time an atheist came to it. I was quite surprised at his knowledge of the Bible. Quite amazing at the study some of them will put into the Bible, them go about seemingly trying to get Christians to deny God and Christ.

Such people as he quickly proves exactly who their father is, no doubt they work very hard for his cause.

Such atheist as this proves this very is 100% true.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 Cor 2:14 (KJV)

Yes, they may know the Bible very good, but they can't grasp the spiritual side of it and how hard of a master they be serving. But one day, like the rich man of Luke 16, if they don't repent, they will find out they will be experiencing the same type of torment as he has been suffering in some 2,000 years as of now yet he has not been cast into the lake of fire which is the 2nd death. Yes, the old devil is a very hard master to serve, and the rewards he hands out to his servants will perish with this world.

I knew a guy in university like that. He was very bright, quick witted and quick to grasp new material. He knew the Bible forward and backward, but as you say, the spiritual aspect was lost to him because he refused to allow the Holy Spirit to open his mind to such.

This guy loved to debate and he could take any side of a position and argue it equally well. I've seen him take an anti-Christian position and shred Christians handily. I've also seen him take a pro-Christian position and make those attacking Christianity look like dunces. He was actually amazing to see in action.

Of course I attempted to witness to him over the years but to no avail. He would constantly revert to the argument that he will only believe in a God who can do anything and since God can't make a rock to big for God to move then he won't believe in God.

Of course, that fails to take into account that God is also a God of order and perfectness and won't be tempted by man. It would be foolish to create a rock to big to be moved and then if such could even be done, if God could not move the rock then God would not be all powerful. This amounts to chaos and even attempting such would be an improper use of God's power.

All of this means the whole concept of the big rock is spurious and holds no merit, which this guy knew, but it's also one he couldn't be argued out of.

So very sad to see folks who believe they are too smart for God.

I actually attended a solstice party. My neighbor hosted, and there was a bonfire, good food, and a good time. It was just a party celebrating the official begining of summer.

I observe all of the soltices because it is a great way to reflect on the beauty of the earth and the seasons that God has created. For the spring solstice, I celebrate birth and life, and the rebirth that God has given us through is Son; the summer is a time to celebrate growth of life and the production of the earth to sustain us; the fall is a time to celebrate maturity and beauty; and winter is a time to celebrate death.

Solstice celebrations can be used for whatever you want to. For me, I think it is a tremendous opportunity to connect with people of pagan religions to find common ground and to seek to bring the message of Christ to them in terms that they understand. For example, at a spring solstice, there is talk of rebirth and life. That is exactely what Christ is all about.

So I see no reason to condemn people who are searching. I see my job to connect with people, to love people where they are, and to bring themessage of Christ to them on their terms in ways they can understand and relate to. What they do with that message is then up to them and God. :)

Didn't the experts recently conclude that Stonehenge was not used for pagan worship or used by the Druids for sacrifices but was nothing but a huge calendar to know when to plant crops?

It really depends upon which "experts" one cares to listen to. When it comes right down to it, the evidence regarding the purpose and use of Stonehenge over the years is very limited. They really can't say for certain whether Stonehenge was a pagan ceremonial site, a groovy calendar, a place to celebrate planting and harvest, a memorial, a cemetary configuration, a combination of these, different things during different time periods, or perhaps something else entirely.

Oh, and let's not forget that old stand-by, that Stonehenge is one of the extraterrestrial alien contact sites; perhaps even built by the aliens themselves!:runforhills:

I just know that "Hollywood" (I use it in a broad sense) tends to make things more than what they are. Example: The Hell's Angels are a direct creation of Hollywood. So Satanic rituals or UFO ceremonies in Stonehenge are all made up to bring in the tourists and sell T-Shirts. $$$
