Our church has two Sunday morning services and the plate is passed around at both services. I suppose I should select the "once a week" as my vote choice given the options.

Every service. Is there some significance in it? :frog

Yes! Share the Scripture where they passed a plate around to collect money in the New Testament church!! :Green

We take an offering every service. If it is a guest speaker (ie. an evangelist, a missionary, a pastor or brother from another likeminded church, etc.), we pass the plate around afterwards for a special offering to that brother (and anything not specifically designated to something else - like Missions or Tithe, etc. - goes to that visiting brother and his family as a love offering.

I dislike a church having a revival service, invite everyone far and wide, them pass around the collection plate in front of them.

The local church ought to support its own revival service, after all that is who the revival service is rightly for. They should never ask none members to support their church and its efforts.

To many churches take lessons for the TV preachers and tried to get money at every turn.

Which most revival services that I have attended no collection plate was passed around.

A couple of churches did it this way, if anyone would like to give and or felt lead to give to this revival service, there is a collection plate on the table by our back door. Anything left in it will all be given to our evangelist on top of what we give him.

Someone told me one time that my church was liberal because we pass the plate. :loco

There is a movement going against it....many people are starting to believe in "collection boxes" and not talking about money in church, etc...

So now, we have to check our money in, before we enter our church.

Sounds like some of those TV preachers, trying to persuaded everyone to put all their money in the collection box before they enter church where they will get more money. :roll

I just do not see nothing wrong with taking up an offering in the church, I don't believe anyone can rightly prove it wrong.

No I think their idea is that its more private and less "pressure" if you just have a little box in the back.

We use collection plates, I was just saying I know people who don't believe in them.
