I was just currious to see if I am in the minority on my preference of preachers. I don't think there is a right or wrong as long as they follow Gods will in their lives. That being said I prefer an animated and loud preacher one who's sermans normally scare off the feeble hearted.
so What about you What Kind of man of God do you enjoy?

I voted the third choice but if we had two options I would have voted both the third and the fourth choices. Although my husband usually stays behind the pulpit, I really really like evanglists who are more animated (to say nothing against my husband, who of course is great, but my preference is a bit more animated).

I chose none of the above. Anything but ear-splitting yelling. It is hard to concentrate when a preacher is yelling and you are on the edge of your seat preparing for the next point of the sermon executed with loudness! That said, I don't mind ups and downs with emphasis--but I've heard some yellers in my time, and it is annoying! I love it when a preacher has a predictable style and you can follow along, take notes, have the sermon wrapped up (he preaches 'til he finishes his point(s), rather than by the clock!) and you feel like you understood the message from God's Word being presented without fluff, filler, and rhetoric.....

One time I was in the nursery with my little guys a few years back, and whoever was the guest speaker was just absolutely screaming and yelling, and we could hear it over the speaker. My little son got big eyes and said "Why the preacher mad?" I didn't think it was too good to be so angry that the kids think you are angry. I do like when they raise their voice to drive a point home sometimes, but not rants and raves.

We were at fellowship meetings a couple of weeks ago, and one of the Preachers would yell to make his point. Well my four and half year old daughter turned to me and said;" Mummy, why is that preacher yelling? Doesn't he love God? Doesn't he know that it is wrong to be angry and shout? " :ooops
She listens to her Daddy every week; who is a teacher/preacher and who never yells behind the pulpit!
We have also taught our children that yelling is not appropriate and that when, and if we do, then we are sinning. She just couldn't put the two together!
Having said all this, I am not a big fan of screaming and yelling preaching. I would rather here the Word of God expounded correctly then hear the preacher scream and yell the same point over nad over in 4 different ways.

I like it when they are more conversational in their approach; not dry monotone and not yelling, but speaking similar as they would if it were one on one.

I also like it when the pastor moves about on the platform some rather than being behind the pulpit the entire time.

My pastor is more of a teacher. Interesting without having to scream and yell and jump. But he does wander around and up and down the isles, but that is a result of his ADD. :lol

I prefer my pastor to step up into the pulpit and stay protected in the pocket with an occasional roll out scramble for a play action pass. Sorry, it's gettin way too close to Superbowl time. lol :hijack:

To me much depends on the preacher. Extremely loud voice & constant shouting, no.

The most important thing to me is that the preacher preaches the truth, and you can tell that he believes what he preaches, that he is sincere.

I know of some preachers who love to brag that they don't stay behind the pulpit, that is sicking.

I've seen preachers who did not stay behind the pulpit and it was alright, I've seen others who should have stayed behind the pulpit, their walking around every where took always from their message.

I've listened to many great preaches who stood behind the pulpit.

So much of it depends on that particular person.

But then he is more of a stationary target for blitzers :tum

And I wanted to add that my pastor does not even have a pulpit. He has one of those microphones that attaches to his ear and he carries around a packet of notes. He types is notes up with the Bible verses he is going to quote puts it in a big packet.

I like the animated, enthusiastic preacher who hollars when he has to make a salient point. But, when its time (appropriately) to tone it down he does.

Our preacher is mostly at the pulpit and occasionally walks about.
