My own input here is this...BAPTISTS aren't the only ones who are saved....Sorry, and it might come as a surprise to many, but, they don't contain the lock and keys on the truth. I believe them to be closest to the Biblical teaching, so, I'm not going to call EVERYONE who doesn't agree with us 'Apostate." I've seen many Baptist churches that have doctrinal errors or extra-biblical doctrines.

Brother Jim - In my posts I didn’t mean to imply that Asbury Theological Seminary was a Church of God (Anderson) affiliated school although some of their Pastors do go there for furthering theological studies. I apologize if I started the confusion by quoting a church of God pastors experience at the revival.

Im not completely sure which denomination Asbury is connected to but it is historically Methodist. I know of Free Methodists, Nazarenes, Wesleyans, etc.. who attend there as well. Most of these groups have slightly different beliefs than the church of God.

Many of the other denominations that are affiliated with Asbury I would consider to be of “conservative holiness movement”. The Church of God today would have much more in common than the United Methodist than the other I mentioned.

I looked at the Asbury website and I did see several staff members who were from the United Methodist Church. That is somewhat surprising to me because I have always heard of it being a more conservative seminary.

The main seminar for the Church of God is Anderson University but I know several Pastors who went to Wesley Theological Seminary and Asbury to pursue doctorates.

Thank you for this clarification Luke. I was under the impression that this was a Church of God denomination.

For clarification -- Asbury University is not officially affiliated with any particular denomination, but its own statement of faith clearly centers it within the Wesleyan-Arminian system of belief.  The following are direct quotes from their statement of faith:

"Asbury University is a Christian liberal arts university which stands in the long succession of Christian orthodoxy. Although no official denominational emphasis exists at Asbury University and all may participate fully in the spiritual life of the campus, the institution maintains its commitment to an evangelical Wesleyan-Arminian perspective and requires all who affiliate with the university community to live within the guidelines of this commitment."

"Asbury University stands in the Wesleyan theological tradition—believing that an act of God’s grace upon which one receives the offer of salvation through the sacrificial life of Jesus Christ can indeed transform a human heart in such a way that through His mercy they can experience holiness of life, have a heart that exhibits His love, and become an agent of His grace for the advancement of God’s Kingdom here on earth."

"The institution maintains its historic Christian commitment and resists the public practice or propagation of beliefs alien to its Wesleyan Christian orthodoxy.  It welcomes students though who have not come to that faith but are respectful of the institution, its mission, and its commitment."

I like what Brother David Rea (IFB missionary in Zambia) said in regard to this revival and revivals in general.

"Christians are hungry for a revival that will change our nation. They are hungry for a movement that will cause young people to flock to Christ. So much so that men who should know better are posting tacit approvals of what us going on at Asbury.
Satan is not against religious experiances. He is the author of them.
We are a nation of Christians who flat put refuse to witness with over 95% never sharing their faith even one time.
We are a nation where over 50% of professing believers deny salvation is through Jesus alone.
It seems to me that many who are excited about Asbury are excited about it due to so many young people showing up and manifesting a hunger for God. This hunger must be met with sound bible preaching not feel good song services.
Absent of this, any revival, will die. It cannot be sustained on emotion.
And the absence of biblical preaching may be evidence the revival is not genuine at all.
Remember Hindus hunger for gods, Muslims hunger for a god, and Mormons worship Adam, the only god whom they have to do (doctrines and covenants, volume 1, page 50, right hand side, half way down the page). Hunger for God means little without biblical, doctrinal preaching.
Without DOCTRINE, no revival can take place.
And... NOTHING is going to replace the command of God for every church member to preach the Gosple to every creature.
There are no short cuts... GO tell them.
"

Also, this is the chapel service that was at the start of the Asbury event (Basically challenging the student body to receive and express the genuine love of God in their daily life, instead of focusing on personal hurts or offences):

The president of the college is putting the revival back into perspective for the students. Twenty-four hour worship on campus won't be allowed (at least not as it has been for the last ten days) after Wednesday. He wants to balance the student experience with the things happening now. I missed putting the link...If I can find it again, I'll post it. Not to be a wet blanket, but, only time will tell if this "revival" is real.

Actually, Biblical revival is not so much a 24 hr. day after day "worship time" wherein all other responsibilities of life are disregarded and neglected.  Rather, Biblical revival is a genuine return of walking with and for the Lord after a time of walking for self apart from Him.  It is always entered by a believer through broken-hearted repentance, wherein the believer humbles himself in repentance and returns unto the Lord with complete heart submission.  It then is engaged moment by moment, day by day through abiding in Christ, and Christ in us, through being filled with the Holy Spirit and walking in and after the Spirit, wherein the believer lives in daily fellowship with the Lord, allowing the Lord to govern the priorities, thoughts, attitudes, decisions, communication, and conduct, bearing the fruit of the Spirit in the daily responsibilities and relationships of life.  Biblical revival does not so much remove us from the daily responsibilities and relationships of life, but changes the way that we interact with those responsibilities and relationships.

I really hope it's real, ...sometimes these events turn into a healing/deliverance meetings with speaking in tongues.

Already has and phony healings with tongues and women preachers.  Jesus has left the building!

There's no talk of salvation, just experiencing the Holy Spirit.  Well, we know the real Holy Spirit's job is to point one to Christ, not himself so these folks are experiencing another kind of spirit!

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The only kind of revival that comes to God's people is one based on worshipping the true God in spirit and in truth - and it will not come to people who have left the truth to fellowship with charismatic or word faith error.
