Kevin grew up with the truth, though. I don't get it? Jerry!? This is as confusing to me as well. He takes such a strong stance on the KJVO. Now, I am confused---but, thankfully, NOT about my KJVO stance. LOL. It just gets so exhausting to reason with people, though, sometimes. My feeling has always been---that either you completely believe wholeheartedly in something or you don't believe in it at all. For me, I can't have it both ways---it doesn't work. Well, the Bible even says so many times in scripture. I love this scripture---especially. James 4:7-8...Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hand, ye sinners; and purify your hears, ye double minded. KJV 1611 AV. The MV's are so watered down b/c they don't contain all of the blood scriptures. As brandplucked said, you open yourself up for attack---and how! Satan loves this game---it is a puzzle to him. That dumb master deceiver!

The difference is, I was looking for truth, taking and applying what I found - becoming more and more Biblical, becoming more conservative in every area. He is getting more liberal, going away from what he already knew. There is a pattern here. God guides when someone takes and applies, holds to, what they already know - if someone is rejecting things God has already guided about, HE WILL NOT KEEP GUIDING IN THAT AREA.

Mark 4:24-25 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

I understand, Jerry. :thumb My hubby and his second oldest brother are the only 2 brothers out of the 6 that serve the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully. My hubby, Joe was raised in the RCC and attended Parochial school for 7 years. My BIL, Mike attended Parochial school for 6 years, as well. My in-laws (both of them) were raised by "Nazi Catholics." It took my FIL 12 years after my MIL to get saved, then---they left the RCC for the Brethren Church for a period of time. I really don't know how my MIL did it for ALL those years. :puzzled: She had many Christian friends who used the KJVO Bible. They had their women's Bible study groups. It was her anchor. :bible:

Now, my 3rd oldest BIL is "gradually" coming back to the IFB after a "backslidden state." The 4th oldest one doesn't go anywhere. He definetly NEEDS prayer. Hopefully, he will surprise us all. The other 2 still need prayer. They come and they go. They are "backslidden." This group of 4 were raised with Christianity. Now, the 3 girls are the best---they have never strayed, and I pray they don't---by the GRACE of God. I call them my 3 angels. :amen: I love big families! They are so intriguing. :smile

Way to toot your own horn there, Jerry. :wink
It just so happens that my views began to change after I sought the truth for myself as opposed to simply believing and accepting what I was taught. I think I'm beginning to understand what is truly most important to God and that's where my focus is. Also, I think conservative and liberal should be defined since it's way too easy to simply say, "I'm becoming more conservative and he's going liberal." Yeah, the Amish never could stop going conservative, they must really be Biblical, right?

I didn't reject anything that I was guided about my God, to my knowledge. It's when I started allowing myself to be guided solely by God and His Word that I began changing my views on things, not rejecting anything that He convicted me about.

What is truth? Probably the greatest question in the Bible. Everything we believe should be weighed against Scripture and that is what has brought about the changes in my life and beliefs. I use the KJV in my daily devotions. I will occasionally use the NIV I have for comparison purposes but the KJV is what I use almost exclusively. I don't see the need to get any more extreme about it. If someone uses a different version, that is their choice and not mine to make. What they do is between them and God and none of my business. The problem with many KJVO'ers, however, is that they feel it is their duty to convict the world of "evil" translations.

Well, that is what I initially thought and believed about you, Kevin. :thumb Again, I know your foundation is EXTREMELY strong, and I also firmly believe you come from "good stock." :Green I know that you are doing what the Lord has called you to do. :amen:

Annie has proven that she has settled for a lowest common denominator approach to the words of the Bible - well, taken together they all say such and such. What about all the passages and words/phrases omitted? Or are those just not God's Word?...

Also, it is simply willful blindness and wishful thinking to believe that no changes or different renderings in different Bible versions affect the meaning. How about John 1:18, where some MVs render the passage as "the only begotten God." So Jesus' godhood was begotten? I would say THAT was different doctrine! How about some MV renderings that "a young woman will be with child" in Isaiah 7:14? That does away with the prophecy of the virgin birth! How about "they hacked off my hands and my feet" in Psalm 22:16? The passage is referring to Christ's hands and feet being pierced by His crucifixion - no different doctrine? How about "He did not consider equality with God as something to be grasped" in Philippians 2:6? What Jesus was not equal to God (the Father)?!? How about changing "Lucifer" to "Morning Star" in Isaiah 14:12 - making it a reference to Jesus being expelled from Heaven, instead of Satan?!? No different doctrine? What have you been smoking?

????. Whether we read the only begotten Son, or God only begotten, the sense of the passage is not affected. The latter reading merely combines in one phrase the two attributes of the word already indicated - God (Joh_1:1), only begotten (Joh_1:14); the sense being one who was both God and only begotten.
(Vincent Word Studies)

The phrase "only Begotten God" Shows two characteristics of the Word, God who is eternal, "only begotten referring to the incarnation and his human nature. He is the God-Man.

God Bless

"The Holy Bible all is the god writes down from memory shows (or does: Every god writes down from memory the Holy Bible which shows), to the lesson, supervises"

That's an automated translation so it's not the greatest. Maybe that's why I use the KJB. :wink

Oh I understand. Just like in Vietnamese, the only Bible available is translated from the Critical text and is unreliable and relatively corrupt. But it's all they have in their native language at this point. In that case, until someone translates a Vietnamese Bible from the KJB/TR, it would be good for them to learn English so they could read the KJB. But God uses what is available; there are thousands of people in different countries getting saved out of Critical text-based Bibles, and thank God for that.
