Members Popular Post Pastor Scott Markle
To all who have expressed their interest in this Bible study venture, thank you. 1. After pondering the various suggestions -- concerning a smaller New Testament epistle, concerning 1 John, concerning a passage that might exhort us on how to relate unto the church . . . 2. And after praying over the matter for guidance through the Holy Spirit for a burden and direction . . . I believe that it would be appropriate for us to do our first Bible study in the epistles of 2 & 3 John. With that in mind, I would make a request for those who desire to participate in this Bible study, either as direct contributors or as consistent observers, to join me in a reading commitment, that is -- to commit unto reading 2 & 3 John two times every day for the next 14 days. (This would "officially" begin Wednesday, January 6, in order to give all of the participants an opportunity to receive this message.) Involved in this reading commitment, I would suggest that the focus of your reading during the first week be only upon allowing God through His Holy Spirit to open your eyes unto the wondrous things of HIs Word that you personally need for your heart and life. Then I would suggest that in the second week you add a focus upon discerning the primary themes of truth that may be contained in each of these two small epistles. (Note: I recognize that there is a movement of members on the forum who believe that only Paul's epistles are specifically to the New Testament church. I do not wish to debate that matter in this thread or in the Bible study thread itself. I do wish to present my position that I shall engage the Bible study on 2 & 3 John from the perspective that these epistles were indeed written to New Testament believers in direct relation to the New Testament church. If some feel a need to discuss and debate over this matter, then this subject would serve to initiate the first "side thread" for that purpose. Thank you for your understanding and consideration concerning this matter.) 2bLikeJesus, No Nicolaitans, TheSword and 3 others
Members Musician4God1611
I would like to contribute Pastor Markle. I will commit to the reading schedule. Pastor Scott Markle
Members Ronda
I also will commit to reading 2 & 3 John two times every day for the next 14 days. (If for any reason I am unable to sit upright and read, I will listen to the KJV audio bible on http://www.hilltopbaptistnewport.net/ListenToTheKingJamesBible.html (which is free, although there are a few missing files and skipping passages, I don't think any were in 2 & 3 John, I think they were in Geneses and both 1 & 2 Corinthians and possible others). I won't bring up (in this study) my thoughts on Pauline doctrine... but I do want to clarify that I also read/study ALL of the bible, not JUST the Pauline epistles. There is wisdom and truth which can be applicable to ALL dispensations throughout ALL of the Bible... and I won't add anything further on that line of discussion, so as not to disrupt the study. Thank you so much for your time devoted to this study. God bless you and guide you in your leading of this group, and may we all benefit by learning, fellowship, and growing (in Christ). Sister Ronda, I did understand this truth concerning you -- that you study ALL for the Biblical wisdom and truth that may be found therein. 1 hour ago, Ronda said: and I won't add anything further on that line of discussion, so as not to disrupt the study. I also thank you for your consideration in this regard. On my part, I simply presented my note above in order that all might know the direction from which I would approach the study, and in order to prevent in advance a controversy that might distract from the study itself. If you or another does desire to discuss this particular matter of disagreement, I am open to doing so in an "other" thread for that purpose. Members 2bLikeJesus
I will commit to the reading schedule as well. Will we postpone discussion until the completion of the two weeks of reading and study? Where will the discussion be posted and will the thread be restricted to only those of us who have committed to the study? Bro. Garry Brother Garry, The discussion thread for the Bible study itself has not yet been started. I will start it after the two weeks of the reading commitment time with the title -- "A Bible Study on 2 & 3 John." This would mean that we will indeed postpone any discussion until the completion of the reading commitment. I intend this "postponement" specifically because I desire for the beginning of the reading commitment truly to be focused upon personal need, not upon forum comments. At this point, I do not intend to restrict the thread only to those who have committed to the study (not that I would have the power actually to do so). However, I do intend, as much as I am able, to keep the Bible study thread focused upon the study itself. Members John81
Sounds very good and I'm on board with the immersion in the selected books of Scripture prior to the actual study. Pastor Scott Markle
Members No Nicolaitans
I'm looking forward to this. Certainly, the requested commitment by Bro. Scott is a wonderful idea as a prelude to the study and discussion that will follow. Pastor Scott Markle and Ronda
Members Pastor Scott Markle
May I use this moment to ask for prayer. On Monday of this week, I was required to administer a funeral. Now on Friday of this week, I am required to administer another Funeral. Rosie

Just a little update on Friday's funeral - It was quite low in attendance (maybe 15 people ???). I had NEVER met the man who had passed on to heaven; however, because of his problem with cancer, he had asked his daughter to make "preparations." Even so, he had specifically asked his daughter to request if I would preach his funeral, not because we knew each other, but simply because he had heard some of my sermons online. Furthermore, he had asked that I preach the gospel (which I would have done anyway) and that I give a "come forward" invitation at the funeral. I did as he asked. No one came forward; however, one young (teen) man did raise his hand with interest in getting saved. Please pray concerning him. I did NOT have a chance to speak directly unto him, since the family departed so quickly.
